well zhongli is genshin's equivalent of fu hua, both chinese guys who lived too long lost everyone and everything and yet the years kept changing genshin's story is getting darker and darker as it goes (we can see how inazuma is messed up comparing to liyue and mondstadt), i believe mihoyo will make genshin as dark and angst as honkai until we reach snezhnaya
@@AoiHaruki09 Bro, believe me, I don't know what will happen before, but I assure you, that when we get to the Pyro Archon (Goddess of war that until now we know is called Murata) one or some very important characters are going to die and everything from then on will be much darker xd
Most Reactors when watching the cutscenes without context: "What an insane animation! I HAVE to play this game!" Most Reactors watching the cutscenes with context after playing though the story: "I swear to god, if this next CGI makes me cry again!" *proceeds to cry profusely* 10/10 story, would cry again.
Final Lesson kept showing up in my TH-cam recommends, so I finally gave in and watched it without knowing anything about the game. I immediately downloaded HI3 afterwards. It blew my mind, and I needed to see what the story was about. I've spent 743 days on Hyperion. Now, I still tear up every time a new Captain shares their experience on TH-cam. Probably HI3's biggest strength is how intimate you are with their handful of characters. You really get to know and care for each one, which makes the story even more impactful.
Also in honkai the thunder herrscherr (thunder girl fighting kiana) is called raiden mei and in genshin the god of thunder is raiden shogun (herrscher = god to make it simple)
Been playing Genshin since release and I quit before the release of 5.4 to continue playing Honkai and I'll say that I highly doubt it for a couple reasons (Might contain slight spoilers): . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1. Genshin dev team is too scared to kill some characters because it's fanbase will backlash. 2. The world building is different from Honkai to Genshin, Honkai focuses on continuing the story straight to the point while Genshin has many different points in the story like Celestia, The Abyss, Character's Story and Other side stories. 3. Honkai has an actual Prequel which is Gun Girl Z which the dev team used as an idea to build Honkai's story while Genshin is completely new, If the story in Genshin somehow connects with Honkai (Especially with Sumeru), we can expect some darkness to it
It's like most people said before. In terms of gameplay spectacle and overall cutscenes quality, H3rd was always breathtaking and wins for sure. Since the introduction of Herrscherrs, everything just oozes top quality (HoS is still my favorite.) With that said, Genshin provides more freedom (to an extent) in a open world scenario and a more diverse cast, but the story is still in its early stages (and 2.1 leaves somewhat to be desired).
Like i said to the other comments genshin is a open world game honkai in anotherhand is like a mix because it has also a open world but more focused on story side of the game
@@markgil8093 Yeah, because Honkai's gameplay is simple ARPG, the story is also straight in one direction, while Genshin's Open World type has many stories in each Quest, which causes the story to Genshin is more divided into several patterns and sections. For my personal preference, I prefer Honkai because the story is straight to the point.
Simply there is only 1 argument why Honkai is better than Genshin. And it's a never changeing fact. The universe. Honkai has so great complex universe, with many worlds ages etc. And Genshin is a part of it. Genshin is a part of the world of Honkai. This is why Honkai is always remain "better" and this is also means that Genshin has far more potential than what you may think.
Honkai story and videos are obviously better than Genshin. This just hits your every emotions in all videos and some of those get my tears away. I didn't play Honkai(only played like for a while after Genshin release, but stopped), but i follow those cinematics/videos for around 4 years since i randomly saw Will of The Herrscher video with that awesome music and it was nuts. I mainly started playing Genshin(that was my first gacha i ever played lol) because i saw they are creators of Honkai. I saw open world and that it will be released on PC which is my fav platform, then i said why not.
I'm a big fan of both genshin and honkai. In terms of story and cinematic, I like honkai better. BUT honkai has been going on for like 4-5 years, so it had more time to develop and progress. If we're comparing ONLY the first year of both game, then I have to choose genshin. I really hope genshin can make as much progress in 4 years as honkai have
Genshin already going the dark path in terms of backstories and lore cant wait to see more Same i love both games The diferences in year 1 of both games genshin had a higher budget to start with tnx to honkai players
@@joshbrosh6626 yeah true, I'm loving how genshin is taking a darker turn. Genshin does have a larger budget, I'm hoping it means lots of quality content in the future
That's what I find funny lol, like MiHoYo CLEARLY know how to do guys too (I mean tears of Themis exists) but they're just "nah, we prefer Yuri" Truly cultured
These cutscenes are far more emotional and beautiful once you follow the story. Honkai is a masterpiece in terms of storywriting, the mangas and story all together are just beautiful
Honestly watching cutscenes doesnt make much of a difference, it's the actual story that makes honkai what it is. The main story, the mangas, the visual novels, the events like "the day you vanished with the stars". One can understand honkai's masterpiece only once they get into the lore and understand the storywriting
Thank you! I hate seeing these vids. You lose soooooooo soooo much context just reacting to the cutscenes that are at are most likely at the end of the chapter. Plus you spoil yourself as you now know where in the story certain things happen.
@@ML-yn9yu ye I know a lot of ppl got into honkai bc of the cutscenes which is understandable, but it's only worth it if they actually look into the story. I'm hoping to see him get into the story, it'll be sad if it's just an empty reaction for quick TH-cam views
@@sm-yg9pz true that. I first knee of HI3rd from a sponsor mentioned from a video I watched. I then played up to chapter 4 but COVID-19 happened so I stopped. Then I was recommended a video called Lament of the Fallen and I was like Meh I'm bored, let's watch. Boy, oh boy I got hooked on the videos after. I watched all up to Reawakening and I was like F*CK it, time to play! And despite already seeing the cutscenes, I never skipped any of them and watched them out in-game. Then when Shattered Samsara came out, I was at chapter 16 and I blazed through 6 chapters in a week just to catch up and it was worth it! For me, I like ve HI for the story, characters and the emotions this game brings out in me. The combo feeling of playing out a game but at the same time watching this s story grow makes me proud to say this is by far my favorite game ever. Worth playing and every penny spent. My fav characters are Fun Hua, H.O.S, Kiana and oh yeah, Otto. The guy just has that amazing charm for a villain character and HI wouldn't be where it is without him.
When the day ypu vanished from the stars rerun be like..... noo please the memories of kongming dying. Stop... and why cant we do something aboit gray serpent
Exactly it's especially bad with final lesson cause that's where you realize the hellscape the game is since they aren't afraid to kill off characters and you don't get time to appreciate Himeko and the process of Kiana going from the naive girl to the mature woman on a mission.
As someone who played honkai for almost 4 years and Genshin since launched, i can't compare both of them. 2 completely different games and genre. Honkai is hack and slash game, so their characters movesets are more complex, meanwhile Genshin focus more on exploration part. For now the story, lore and my attachment to the characters, i have to give it to Honkai. But it's 5 years old vs 1 year old game, so it's not really fair to compare their story yet
I think it is fair to compare at this stage. I don’t think we are gonna see Monstad characters for a long time, except for Events. There are 100’s of characters in development in Genshin, a lot of them being virtually same personalities copy pasted(Jean, Ganyu, Kokomi). But in Honkai, we see multiple battlesuits for each Valkyrie showing off their story progression. With Genshin, in Archon quests, you see only a fraction of the cast involved in the main quest never to be seen again unless its an event that has no real interactions. Honkai’s excellent characters develop overtime. Whereas In Genshin, you don’t get to see that character unless some weirdo is using it and these characters do make an appearance in events.
@@RKNancy that's because both of the game had fundamentally different story that they built upon, u can't really compare them at all. The reason why genshin had so many characters is because this is the travelers journey throughout the region, there will be people come and go throughout the region, that's not surprising even in the slightest. There's just no way they can develop side characters like how honkai does, because their storytelling is just that, fundamentally different in almost every way. MC and paimon are the only true main character of the game during their journey throughout all 7 region and thus, naturally would get the most development, let's just wait and see.
@@RKNancy jean, ganyu, kokomi are really different imo. Yes, they're all overworked female officials but that doesn't mean they all have the same personalities. Honkai also have like less than ten playable characters that judt have multiple upgrades so it's easier to get attached to them. Genshin got like more playable characters in one region than in honkai overall. Honkai is about a group of friends fighting while genshin is about unlocking and understanding the world of teyvat. It's just natural that not all of characters will have a long screentime.
@@ymw1107 that's not an excuse though. If characters are memorable then it won'r matter if they appear only once in the story, they'll be memorable forever. Take for example Fate Grand Order. In the first Lostbelt (story chapter of the second arc), you meet a dude named Patxi, he's barely any different from any other citizen NPC in design and he travels with you for about a quarter of the chapter, but god damn you remember him forever. I can barely remember what the story in Monstadt was nor what roles did any of its character play, even the unique named ones you can play as like Jean, Liyue was pretty decent and I actually remember quite a bit, like how Ningguang appeared like twice but her throwing the Jade Chamber was great. Let's just forget Inazuma exists, except maybe Ayaka's chapter.
Let's goooooo!!! I used to say "don't watch before playing as it ruins it" but honestly I've now realised that when you actually get there in the story you actually get a whole new view on what the scene means! Also I watched alot of the cutscenes before playing so it's pretty hypocritical if I did so I'd also argue that Honkai has a better story with better characters and is hella more emotional but Genshin does have better world building in so yeah. I personally prefer Honkai myself as I love a good story but I do play Genshin alot too and love it so no hate to either
Honkai's world building is insane though. They rewrote the entirety of human history to explain the fact that civilization was similar to what it is now. It's just not apparent in game. The manga and Honkai Operation Center explain the history up until the events of the story very well. But that isn't to say that genshin is any different in terms of lore.
@@elainasynranelt true true, i mean more visualising I guess rather than having lore of it. Genshin you can travel to alot of the places you hear about where honkai tends to not do that as much due to being a linear game. Don't get me wrong I like that but it's cool to be able to be able to build the world around your own adventures in Genshin if you get me. Also I love Honkai alot but having some of the lore in manga separate from the game itself I can't really class as world building through the game, even though they're amazing reads
Because genshin is a open world RPG that's why it have better world building but interms of storyline and cinematics honkai would be the best and fyi there's a full manga that you can read to further understand the story of honkai and it's a looot looott loooot darker than they think it is
There are hard to compare because Honkai has a set story to tell while Genshin tone tend to fluctuate alot because there isn't a set story to tell. Its tailored as an adventute by exploring these different areas of Teyvat. With that being sad Honkai is much more emotionally devestating and I'm afraid Genshin is slowly getting there lol
Mihoyo at the beginning like... No idea at all. But as time goes on, everything change and there are more and more people in Mihoyo hq. Watching Mihoyo keep improving in Honkai makes me happy. May all the honkai haters go away.
Im still remember why mr daiwei make HI3 in the first place because he is evangelion fans, and hope get attention from author of evangelion. And when he did it he just said a fanboy with a company 🤣🤣🤣
Im a Genshin player, actually I'm obsessed with Genshin Impact lol. I watched a bunch of videos about the story and lore of Honkai, and the cinematic cutscenes. It really is a wonderful story, I was emotional about the cinematics and I haven't even played the damn game. Anyway, as a fan of Genshin, I think as a fan of a Mihoyo game, I like to show respect for the other game they made. I'm not sure why some people gotta hate on one or the other. I really really wish I can play Honkai tho...but playing it on my potato phone is laughable, and I don't have a computer. So...sad violin noises 🎻
@@_Eisley the hater r not from honkai but genshit Thats why honkai community praying that genshit player dont come to us or the game might end up being like how genshin rn They hope the new player know notin abt mihoyo so the toxicity will be less and less but GI kept pissing them off idk why We just want peace
Albz “the final lessons?” Me: *having a mental breakdown for the nth time over this cutscene* Your reaction just made the cutscenes so much more enjoyable than it already is. Can’t wait till you resume your journey with us in Honkai, commander Honkai has amazing music that you should definitely check out. They always never fail to bring tears to my eyes🤧
This makes me so happy. And to be honest, when you get to the scenes in the story there are so many emotions. It's a whole new vibe, i also feel like it makes you more exited to play and more curious as to how the story gets to these points, it makes you want to play even more and get through the story. Also It's great to see how far you've come! ✨ I've always loved watching your reactions!
Trueeee, seeing these scenes made me pick the game up again, I started playing a couple years ago and got to chapter 6 and stopped as I didn't enjoy it at first, but then I saw some cutscenes of it and thought "wow it looks like it gets amazing" and picked it back up last year... Totally worth!!!
I'm a veteran Honkai Captain and to me, it's hard to compare the two as it's pretty much apples and oranges but in terms of animation quality and story, Honkai blows Genshin out of the water but Honkai had a few years to develop it's story, give it a few years and knowing Mihoyo, Genshin's story will be on par with Honkai
honkai vs genshin is always such a difficult question, especially since honkai has been out for several years already :') although if you want to compare honkai's cutscenes/animations with genshin's character demos, i'd suggest watching honkai's version trailers too (they usually include segments of new playable characters)! love your reactions to these animations though, looking forward to more of your honkai gameplay! :D
Honkai is story driven and Genshin is world driven. Story driven games have an easier time playing with your emotions while world driven games survive through the worldbuilding. Different genres, both effective in their own areas.
According to an interview with the director of MiHoYo, "Genshin Impact" was going to be a parallel to Honkai Impact, it was going to follow the line of the Houkai Saga, and it was going to be in the hands of the Honkai Impact team, but with the projects of the saga Houkai they had, they had no more room for another project, so they hire another team to take over the project, this team changed everything, and only left some things (the character designs), and changed the entire plot of the story , as a consequence Genshin Impact was created, and therefore it was left out of the Houkai Saga, but belonging to the same world tree, they may plan to reach an intersection point in the future, but they lost many things by redoing history for Genshin , for example, the protagonists were going to be Kaslana surnames, and some other things that were removed. We will see what happens in the future, but I would not like them to connect those two worlds and that was demonstrated in the collaboration they did in 2021.
if you have a link for these interview, i would like it :) And connecting those two universe will be a really big mistake actually, the lore of genshin is really complex and need to mature more before doing something like that, but it would be really problematic to mix the two lore... each universe are really different.
@@Nako_o genshin need to reach the truth first that their civilization is built by previous era survivors(Project Ark) from honkaiverse which is the (Original Celestia) hence they named the world Teyvat which is Ark in hebrew before Genshin could partake in the never-ending complexity of honkai's multiverse that the Twins from genshin had once traversed.
Genshin impact’s greatest strength is storytelling through environment. While the story itself isn’t perhaps the greatest, it makes up for it by adding little secrets and puzzles into the map that tell you the story. In this case, only viewing genshin’s story through the lens of the archon and story quests is a mistake that is made too often
Honkai Impact’s story is phenomenal, and I prefer it to genshin’s, but I’d be lying if the world exploration and uncovering hidden lore of new islands never excited me.
well that's right. In Genshin the main story is the history of Teyvat all after every Archon quest you will unlock a piece of it. While Honkai Impact tells its stories through the development of characters (you can compare Kevin back stories to Zhongli, Kevin just has too much to dig in). It depends on which one you prefer more.
In Story in Genshin Impact is just a lore of every Archon characters, whole teyvat in old times to now, Khaenri'ah falls, and your destiny journey which is the twins journey (both twins are canon if Aether or Lumine is player protagonist and abyss twins like abyss prince/princess)... But this Honkai story makes you cry because of music, because your favorite character dies like Himeko (😭 I cried that), and awesome story... Honkai is a straight up main story than Genshin...
As someone who plays both, I can sum it up pretty concisely Honkai feels like it has more soul and depth put into it, and I have never tired of it Genshin looks nice, appeals because of the open world, and provides short-term satisfaction
That "short term-satisfaction" point hit different, ma dude. So true. "Oh, new char released, cool. Now, to wait for the next 50". Idk. Characters in Genshin legit don't feel special. More like a one and gone thing. They forgotten after their release. For months.
Majority of the "soul" of genshin is not shown actually, you have to read the books and weapons and artifacts lore to see it, and it his really promising
@@Nako_o Too bad none of that is part of the main voice acted quests with any of our favorite characters, I guess mihoyo prefers to give the spotlight to the ayaka pizza cooking segments. Like signora just randomly dying without them developing her at all or telling her back story and sure you can read about it in artifact description but you shouldn't be forced to do that maybe spend less time on a cooking contest and more on stuff that is actually interesting and not mind crushingly boring.
@@nureha-samapower6672 they're some strange choice for the story telling yes, but some part of the story is more like having a break on the world. When I play genshin it's more like I'm on a fairy tale, but lately it's starting to go on the right way, I can't wait to see how they will put dotore and his lab where he's doing human experimentation on sumeru, it will be a major twist on the story telling. For signora I think they have do it this way to be more chocking for people who don't read the deep lore but alow those who read it to confirm some theory.
22:23 in the chinese dub you can hear a voice asking seele "you wish to die?" that voice was dark "seele"/veliona also you forgot watching awakening and pre-revelation
The Cutscenes and animations are super lit, but if you wanna really get the full Honkai Impact experience, you gotta play the game (and read the manga, for full context) But beware, you're in for a serious emotional ride. *Get Final Lesson'd*
Ive personally tried honkai for first time back in april 2021 because i was a day 1 genshin hardcore enjoyer and oh boy .... Ive undersrood why honkai is the real deal and how amazin it is . Ps: ive watched final lesson for like million times and theres no time i dont cry like a baby .... Himeko we will never forget you Major.....
You missed one cinematic. Its called "Reawakening" Its a REAL shame you just missed the "the day you vanished with the stars" If you want depression, go play through that. Also, speaking as a Honkai veteran, Otto is awesome. He's so awesome he probably puts pineapple on his donuts
31:10 you missed the end credit scene where it gives you the epic cinematic of the city damn Also Honkai uses cliche stuff from shounen series usually. However, they don't overuse them like for example, flashbacks are enough within a few seconds not a full 5 episodes of flashbacks. They speed the tears up so that the next thing we realize is flood of tears. a side note that these kind of animations comes out around 2 times/year. People from genshin usually said, honkai got carried but genshin. In reality, it's wrong. Honkai is the reason why genshin exist (They used honkai budget for genshin) and Honkai hard carried itself to this point.
'Tis as if Albs is a psychic. I was rewatching his older video reacting to one of the Honkai animated shorts a few minutes ago and then this gets uploaded.
Honkai: we are better because we have the power of love !! Genshin: you mean friendship? Honkai: no.... it's yuri... Genshin: ..... Honkai: dude, you will never understand how beautiful that kind of love is. Genshin: ...................
There was "Reawakening" between "Lament of the Fallen" and "Shattered Samsara". Also, though CGI-es are great, they are mostly the endings of the in-game story arcs. You need play the game and read the dialogues to fully understand what happen.
These animations have far more emotional IMPACT when you have the context of the story. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone watch these on their own without first going through the story.
If you want to enjoy these animations a million times more, just one word; CONTEXT. I can assure you that at least you will get a knot in your throat watching some of these. I cried like a fkn idiot with Final Lesson, and I'm 43.
Well it really depends. Genshin IS honkai in a sense. Genshin exists on honkai's Imaginary Tree, (The World Tree), and the Traveler is most likely part of the ARC project created by Dr MEI, which had the goal of traversing worlds in order to find a new home for humanity before the Honkai consumed all.
@@deusmachinashirou5044 Very true. I do wonder where it all connects though. My current theory is that the massive civilization that the abyss discovered is actually genshin's iteration of the Previous Era.
I'm not trying to drag you down in any way, but I'd just like to point out that Project ARK didn't actually involve any living people being aboard. The ark in question was a ship which held a library of the human genome. It is true that the purpose of the Project was to find worlds both habitable and free from the Honkai, but it just does not fit with the story of the two siblings. For one, as I said, there were no living people on the ark, it was just a library of the human genome. Secondly, given the implication that the "worlds" used was meaning planets, it's highly unlikely to be connected, especially since there was never any indication of the Previous Era managing to break into Imaginary Space to reach the Tree. And then there's the caveat of the Traveler and their sibling's world having been mentioned to be completely destroyed, but wouldn't they have known about the cryostasis survival plan and Project EMBER if they were from Honkai's PE?
@@elainasynranelt just to clarify, from the artifact descriptions, books, manga and so on we know so far Selestia destroyed Khaenriah because it either a: was too prosperous for a nation with no god and they got envious, or b: an alchemist named Gold took her experiments too far and nearly destroyed Teivat with her sort-of-bioweapon that turns people into abyss monsters. But no hints of honkai energy, zombies, beasts or herrschers of any kind so far. Honestly speaking, it's a bit alarming how they got their technology developed so far with no honkai interference. It must mean Teivat is either not on honkai's radar or has nothing to do with Honkai's multiverse in the first place and the part where Otto sees Dvalin on the screen is just a small teaser of their future projects. Though we can't rule that out just yet.
@@Soundwave1900 The one Otto saw dvalin was in canon main stories. Also If you don't know there is another small world created by Su (previous era Mantis soldier ) called Sumera too.
Yep, its like a boxing match of a high schooler vs a grade schooler, ofc the older ones gonna win, Genshin still has a long long way to go while Honkai is at its absolute peak at the moment.
Yep but its fair to compare the first years of genshin and honkai..genshin made no impact and inazuma arc got trashed..meanwhile honkai in its first years of story writing made an impact and kept evolving..i hope genshin writers fix their sht

I've been playing HI3, and everytime new story gonna be released, I always take time to reread all notes and cutscenes from previous story to get the feel of continuation. The mangas and visual novels matter alot. It is like following a big story and the gameplay is like a side bonuses just to pump the sense of involvement.
honkai is basically a visual novel with banger gameplay and story, genshin is more focused on the exploring and is overall more relaxing, pick your poison depend on what you like

Then go into the abyss and get ur biweekly xtals! Then afterwards hop into Arknights (ik its made by Yostar, Hypergryph) and idly farm ur operators before heading to bed! What im excited about honkai is this thing call imaginary tree, it open a lot of possibility to branch out the stories, and i recalled mihiyo actually want to create something called hoyoverse, taking the imaginary tree and connect it to genshin and branches it out to honkai star rail.. That gonna be interesting
I think the "Unknown God" from the opening cutscene in Genshin is another version of Kiana/Void from one of the branching worlds. The Imaginary Tree and Sea of Quanta open many possibilities of a crossover event between the two games.
@@decade191 there is no sense of agency in Genshin for the most part, all it feels like atm is like we're playing Pokemon going around collecting gym badges (elements) while dealing with Team Rocket (Abyss and Fatui) and the fact the Archons doesn't tell us literally anything useful it doesnt give hints that lead anywhere tldr there isnt any major event happening yet, Honkai had Final Lesson
@@Kaimax61 chapter 9 of 28 (and countless manga, visual novels, event stories etc) and like even though 9 is where it really kicked off chapter 5 is where it really started to pick up when we really start to learn about Kiana etc. Genshin is over a year old now and for the most part the overall story has kinda gone nowhere...Being fair though they're very different styles of game so comparing them isn't that simple but personally I find it very difficult to get invested in Genshin at times because almost NO ONE feels like they actually matter. Like you could kill any genshin character and for the most part it would not be felt on the world in the slightest, fans might care if it was a favourite character but the story wouldn't give a shit unless MAYBE if it was Tartaglia (since he's kinda the most recurring character and somewhat of our "designated rival")
It makes me so happy to see how hyped the cutscenes made you and the moment you said “last lesson” I instantly started to cry because of Himeko. When you play the game you love Himeko and it broke my heart when I saw the cutscene for the first time. Everytime she reappears I am happy to see her but also start to cry like a Childe.
Raiden Mei = Raiden Shogun There are also lots of more similarities between the Honkai's and Genshin's characters. Take for an example, Kiana's "Herrscher form", which is the Unknown God from Genshin's opening cutscene.
I personally find that Honkai is a really fun game and beautiful animations however when you finish it it I found that Genshin is more desirable to play in end game content as a pose to Honkai. That being said whenever a new story chapter is released in Honkai it blows anything that’s happening in Genshin out of the water.
You're right there really isn't. Maybe I only have this opinion because I have better Genshin characters than Honkai. I really would love it if both games revamped or changed up some stuff in endgame as they're both getting kinda repetitive (spiral abyss, dirac sea, q-signularis. Oh also, one this I really wanna see in Honkai is more opportunities for co-op especially without using stamina. Overall though I found myself getting more invested in the characters within Honkai due to their more realistic animations and deeper exploration of emotions.

Genshin will never reach this level of "darkness" in the main quest or the world building due the simple reason of the game is now insanely mainstream and the public of Genshin is very casual, if they made the history darker as HI, lot of people will complain about it and, maybe yes they will add some more mature topics and quest but the game will always remain in the soft side, of course I would love to see GI evolve and become a better game at the caliber of HI3,but it's the Golden egg chicken of MHY, so they simply will keep it in a way where they can milk it as much as possible to continue financially supporting the other projects such as Honkai Rail and ofc HI3
@@FreePALESTINE37383 My bad. I got that 17+ from Wikipedia, but apparently Baidu Baike lists it as 12+ and it links to the official website for proof. I guess the age rating doesn't matter then
in terms of cinematics, then yes. in terms of story, subjective, but I'd say yes because honkai has had way more time to progress the story and characters. in terms of gameplay, subjective, I personally prefer genshin.
True true, they're both at different points in their life. Honkai has had much longer to mature so the story currently is at its peak and is amazing, Genshin is still in its early days so it's during the build up. So currently I prefer Honkai, but I'm interested to see where Genshin goes But yeah gameplay is whatever you prefer, I like Honkai more as it's just so much faster and it pleases my ADHD but obviously personal opinion.
I prefer honkai gameplay over genshin. The gameplay relies a lot more on skill rather than luck. You can have all the best weapons and valks but it dont mean anything if you dont have the skills to use them. In genshin, once you have good artifacts and constellation units, its pretty much just use all the skills and end the fight in just one cycle.
@@Bstrdmn yeah..pretty rough, even I can experience all emotions in honkai. especially when our beloved sacrifed her live for good and became motivation of all is real worth it. God I miss her..
I cried before watching everlasting flames, just reading the story and you can feel a lot of emotions, after all that hard journey you watch everlasting flames and it hits you directly, is so beautiful and emotional, is not sad is amazing, after all the 3 chapters of sadness, the puppet really push in you despair, even if you know they are talking of npc or the mc problems you get hit by those negative emotions that reaching the climax that is the CGs is a flow of emotional, I was happy, but very emotional. Honkai is so good
Genshin seriously needs some villains like Otto and Kevin right now cuz it's not so early game and the constant presence of a good villain through the whole game keeps it interesting. The Harbingers were turned into literally comic relief characters and the archons have done their wrongs bur then sre treated like "poor baby suffered trauma" as much as they suffer it would be nice to see them face the damage they actually create or see them in a more antagonist position.
I must say. Prepare for a lot of pain and depression when you do play. Mihoyo is NOT joking around with this game. Also make sure you play with a controller. Also, since you've watched all the animations, i guess you can also watch the latest concert at some point, its incredible.
a little fact about final lesson, when the serum go inside kiana, in the game cinematic the scream is more terrify for just mix hokai and kiana scream (the yt cinematic only have honkai scream)
You should definitly check Honkai Impact 3rd Starfire Sonorant Concert, they did a ''live'' version of all the songs you heard and annouced their new project Honkai Star rail Also thank you for all the content you've been doing, keep going man, much love and respect
At first I don't know shit about this honkai impact thing... When mihoyo release genshin, I thought honkai is released later than genshin... So I play genshin for a few month and I didn't get any hype from playing it... So, I move to the honkai, and I'm hooked... Like the valk, the story telling, the animation, and the hardest game play like ER.. I'm never getting tired of it... And mihoyo keep getting a new valk to introduce too...
Community wasn’t kidding when they say Honkai doesn’t hold back and isn’t afraid to kill off their characters. Idk if I should start getting into now after watching all these emotional cutscenes but I think I might lol
AS a veteran player that play from the game release of Honkai Impact 3 until now,I must say at the moment at 49:00,i was Fking Cry and Deep my heart saying Finally this is the moment i waiting for....after playing whole chapter story for 4 years...
They both have their charm. Genshin thrives off it’s world-building and the depth of the reaction-based combat system, and Honkai has an amazing story as well as an equally complex set of mechanics. There both great in their own ways I suppose.
After the first few seconds: There is an Honkai Anime, its called "Cooking with Valkyries" and as the name suggests is centered around cooking. Also there is a comedy-sketch anime called "ELFEN-Academy" both are fun to watch but less focused on action.
Don't ever expect genshin to have a bright story in the future. I don't know if anyone is blind enough to not see this but honkai is focused on a certain number of chars and they are slowly growing giving enough time for the main story to progress. Genshin is the complete opposite. It focuses on new char chapters for every new character release and never finishing or going forth on any of those stories. This also puts the main story on halt as you can see nothing is happening in genshin story for the past 5 patches. You have any idea how pathetic that is? The most recent quest is literally about rebuilding a fking palace. What does that have anything to do with traveler's journey? Even in the cutscene, ningguang told him that she knows nothing about his sibling so he basically wasted his fking time for the millionth time. I'm about done with genshin's story. It's dumb to expect anything from a game that has more emphasis on releasing new characters and new stories that have absolutely nothing to do with anything.
True, and the only story quest to have more parts was Zhong Li's. Though I would probably think they are gonna do this this way until the story quest is gonna tied up to one of the current events of the main story. Like Zhong Li's 2nd part, where the traveler asked him but in the end he didn't answer it due to a reason, it connects of how the archons actually destroy khaenriah, they did but why? Probably like for example, though it could happen, the main story has Klee's mother to be the main point of the story. After that, we will have another klee quest that we need more info about her mother, so probably I think their gonna make another story quest if the main brings up a topic that could relate to it in the story quest
That's why i prefer more honkai, cuz every character has their story and really explained alot not like genshin, also skills in honkai is much better and faster.Much more competitive and have open worlds. Also really love outfits in honkai. I feel like genshin is only for casual players who love open world, exploring, more in a side of freedom.
These games give me hours of malding and pain with rng specifically genshin artifacts and honkai stigmatas but cg's like these make me realize how ungrateful I can be and how this is a free game
Genshin is a baby interms of story cutscenes and progression compared to Honkai. But who knows what might happen in future? Either ways both games are good in their respective ways. What we care for the most are the WAIFUS
I'm highkey convinced that genshin and honkai are connected and that genshin is one of the worlds in the honkai universe that doesnt directly appear in the story
Bro you missed another CG before the Shattered Samsara and you didn't "fully" watch Shattered Samsara but your reaction was enjoyable :D It's always fun for a veteran captain like me to see new people react to Honkai and it kinda warms my heart 🥰
Your reactions for all of this was so good, but sad u skipped last part of Fu Hua animation and some others too. They making some really good stuff for Honkai. It clearly blows up Genshin with those videos, animations and story. Hopefully we will get more of something like this in Genshin too.
Love the gameplay, fast n satisfying. I keep playing f2p when Fu Hua first debut. Easy guide, never miss daily log in, best developer reward n already got 50+ valkyries, really cool. Btw i only play on smartphone till now. The type of suitable game i need so far. No bored.
I love ur reaction!!!! many people did honkai reaction without turn on the subtitles so they can't react how the cg animation's dialogue. I've played Honkai for a year and still got goosebumps when rewatch all the cg animation! Mihoyo did great job!
They are two different beasts on the same fantastic ship. You can't really compare the two. Honkai is propelled by pain, loss, and how you deal with that. Honkai gives us more real life aspects all while still having an insanely driven story. Character growth is truly next level. Genshin is our little sister and a absolutely stunning game with some absolutely fantastic characters. Honkai gives me depth and power. Genshin gives me playful, but powerful, and on its way to the tip. Also, without Genshin, I think Honkai would have a smaller demographic. They are both fantastic, and it's best to not compare one to the other because they are on completely different tracks for the future. These are must plays though, for any gamers!
God I would die to see Honkai as an anime. It has more plot then 90% animes nowadays. I love Flamescion and Void the most.... poor Siren though. I do love the last animation as its a throw back to Final Lesson
Seriously mistaking Himeko in 45:08 how could you after everything you seen in Honkai until this moment that sword was probably biggest indication for players who don't play Honkai because it is the on that Himeko used in Final Lesson D:
I know this is 4 days old, but that last clip was a cut from a video a couple of months ago. So he hadn't actually seen the other videos yet at the time, hence the confusion
🌸😹It could be uttered, that though late I shall yield my answer! No.. Honkai is not better than Genshin Impact, but it does do a few things far better! - Fluid Combat Animation - Superb Animation Outside of the aforementioned, it’s more staged based combat is a minus (I prefer the open world of Genshin) and it shows it’s age a bit😹🌸
Nah, I'd say Honkai is better than Genshin for sure. The game actually requires skill rather than just building artifacts, building your characters is actually fun and the game actually gives you more creative opportunities to do it. The lore is more complex and the community has no mind actually trying to explain it to you. Genshin is lowkey one of those games where you have to keep consistently grinding for hours at a time, even when you don't have the time to actually do it. It's like the game is making you spend money. Meanwhile for Honkai, you actually get login rewards where even if you only have like 15 minutes- you can still make a significant amount of steady progress for building your characters and the story. In short, Genshin is more addicting to play simply because it's like a Dark Souls effect. All because it's Open World, people can automatically think its better when the actual progression through the game is painstakingly long. For me, I actually feel more loose and like I'm actually having fun when playing Hi3. The events are cute, fun and helpful and the fact that there's more than one way to get a character BESIDES rolling for them in gacha is just overall a better aspect.
@@david_ace Just search himekos theme and play the first thing that comes up. Or search chapter 9 reaction but i suggest you dont just in case you want to perhaps try honkai in the future
You really do forget how short term this mans memory is after seeing an entire cinematic with Himeko (Red Haired girl), then calling her a dude every time after that 😂
i don't know if it's worth making another video, but there's two more animations: Reawakening (which comes right before Shattered Samsara) and Revelation (the newest one that comes after Everlasting Flames) also unfortunately honkai doesnt have an animated series (though we would love that) BUT it does have two spinoff series called cooking with valkyries and ELF academy which as you can tell by the names are much more lighthearted but still fun to watch
Honkai feels so different because it is the heart and joy of both Mihoyo and the fans. It’s been out for a long time, and even before that we had Honkai Gakuen, Zombiegal Kawaii, and FlyMe2TheMoon. All these stories based on Kiana, so she is a comfort character that so so so many people root for. Genshin doesn’t quite have that yet, which I believe is because it’s still fairly new. I know Genshin will get that one spark people will get passionate and emotional about, we just have to wait.

In terms of gameplay spectacle and overall cutscenes quality, H3rd was always breathtaking and wins for sure. Since the introduction of Herrscherrs, everything just oozes top quality (HoS is still my favorite.)
With that said, Genshin provides more freedom (to an extent) in a open world scenario and a more diverse cast, but the story is still in its early stages (and 2.1 leaves somewhat to be desired).

@@Wankomancer I agreed with you.

I used to say "don't watch before playing as it ruins it" but honestly I've now realised that when you actually get there in the story you actually get a whole new view on what the scene means!
Also I watched alot of the cutscenes before playing so it's pretty hypocritical if I did so
I'd also argue that Honkai has a better story with better characters and is hella more emotional but Genshin does have better world building in so yeah.

I think the reason why they're not kaslanas is because the traveller knows how to cook
Kaslanas don't
I think with the reveal of the Imaginary Tree it is even more of a possibility of an intersection.
As someone who plays both, I can sum it up pretty concisely
Honkai feels like it has more soul and depth put into it, and I have never tired of it
Genshin looks nice, appeals because of the open world, and provides short-term satisfaction
That "short term-satisfaction" point hit different, ma dude. So true. "Oh, new char released, cool. Now, to wait for the next 50". Idk. Characters in Genshin legit don't feel special. More like a one and gone thing. They forgotten after their release. For months.
Trueeee with so many characters into play you can't really make a lasting connection with any of them.
I love watching people's first-time reactions to Honkai cinematics! It just shows how much more appreciation Honkai deserves!

Honkai is to futuristic for my taste. But i respect the game and players cause without Honkai, Genshin would not be the game it is today. Mad respect!
Agreed. Genshin is a bigger game and will be a better game but credit for that should be given to Honkai. It provided the funds.🤔👍

Also Honkai uses cliche stuff from shounen series usually.

For someone who've played Honkai since 2017, This does put tears to my eyes 😢
Don't worry you will not be the final one
Well it really depends. Genshin IS honkai in a sense. Genshin exists on honkai's Imaginary Tree, (The World Tree), and the Traveler is most likely part of the ARC project created by Dr MEI, which had the goal of traversing worlds in order to find a new home for humanity before the Honkai consumed all.
As far as theories goes that are a lot of possibilities

I think the "Unknown God" from the opening cutscene in Genshin is another version of Kiana/Void from one of the branching worlds. The Imaginary Tree and Sea of Quanta open many possibilities of a crossover event between the two games.

I personally find that Honkai is a really fun game and beautiful animations however when you finish it it I found that Genshin is more desirable to play in end game content as a pose to Honkai. That being said whenever a new story chapter is released in Honkai it blows anything that’s happening in Genshin out of the water.
From what I heard, there isn't much end game content in Genshin tho.
You're right there really isn't. Maybe I only have this opinion because I have better Genshin characters than Honkai. I really would love it if both games revamped or changed up some stuff in endgame as they're both getting kinda repetitive (spiral abyss, dirac sea, q-signularis.
Yup that's what I had noticed too, the war in inazuma is a good example of it not being as dark as it could've been.

in terms of story, subjective, but I'd say yes because honkai has had way more time to progress the story and characters.
in terms of gameplay, subjective, I personally prefer genshin.
True true, they're both at different points in their life. Honkai has had much longer to mature so the story currently is at its peak and is amazing, Genshin is still in its early days so it's during the build up. So currently I prefer Honkai, but I'm interested to see where Genshin goes

They both have thier pros and cons so i wouldnt exactly call one better than the other.

Outside of the aforementioned, it’s more staged based combat is a minus (I prefer the open world of Genshin) and it shows it’s age a bit😹🌸
The events are cute, fun and helpful and the fact that there's more than one way to get a character BESIDES rolling for them in gacha is just overall a better aspect.
the story from both of them can make every man crying (especially Honkai, It hit harder than Genshin).
“Neeeveeer LEEEEEEEEET YOUUU GO”
@@iotaku i still dont get the joke can u explain me pls ?
@@david_ace Just search himekos theme and play the first thing that comes up. Or search chapter 9 reaction but i suggest you dont just in case you want to perhaps try honkai in the future
@@iotaku *ITS WHY I DID THEM ALLL*
@@_simplejared_1992 **FOR A CHAAAANCE AT LEAST**
Albsterz : WOAH WOAH WHAT IS THAT YO?
Me : *mentally breaking down and crying*
You really do forget how short term this mans memory is after seeing an entire cinematic with Himeko (Red Haired girl), then calling her a dude every time after that 😂
i don't know if it's worth making another video, but there's two more animations: Reawakening (which comes right before Shattered Samsara) and Revelation (the newest one that comes after Everlasting Flames)
also unfortunately honkai doesnt have an animated series (though we would love that) BUT it does have two spinoff series called cooking with valkyries and ELF academy which as you can tell by the names are much more lighthearted but still fun to watch
Diluc may be strong but he has nothing compared to our Miss Himeko. **Nothing**
