It's so he can practice ladder climbing a lot.
We shall invoke it as the "Our Ladders are different" trope.
Probably has less issues with these, given he designed them to be Duncan-proof :D
Playing TTT a lot more, I've not had problems with ladders themselves.
I have however had problems with 'rope' ladders. Like in the Woodshop map. It's a ladder on all sides, and climbs just fine, it's just that it's in the center of a hole, and it's hard to reach the platform when you jump off.

We should get everyone in Yogs to make a map of their own if theyve got the time for it

"If they've got time for it" they play games like Gmod for a living and have extra people to edit content for them, I think they might find some time ... ( The question is if they decide to do/not do it )
I think you're underestimating the amount of time it takes to build one of these.

Based on what Sjin said it took him it's 6-8 hours, maybe even 21 hours.
That's 3 hours a day for a week.
Considering their workload is 2-5 hours a day on average, I think adding another 3 hours on top of that for a week won't be too much.
(How I estimate their work day length):
On average most yogs everyday produce a video for the main channel and one for their personal channel - so that's some 1-2 hours of content they produce per day. Sometimes a 2-3 hour stream. That's max 5 hours of work daily. I think they do have time.
Genuinely a really impressive map, I don't feel like Duncan got enough love in this episode. Sjin needs to step up his game.

As a semi-retired Source engine map maker, Duncan's map is far, far more impressive and more optimized than Sjin's is.
I love it, for, the Yogscast TTT standard that is.

I love Sjin and his antics but his map was... and now that Duncan has proven how good a yogs map can be. well. we all need to head over to reddit to sort out how to settle this.

Duncan did great on this map, the laser gimmick is a great idea.
With all the maps we've seen through years of TTT videos, I genuinely think Duncan's map is amazing. It looks good, it's functional, it's a good size and even has a puzzle bit. The only critical point would be the merge rocket, but it was entertaining to watch. Very nice!

I love that Duncan IMMEDIATELY gives himself away, by starting to explain why he set off the temple, before the intro finished.
Think this may actually be one of the best, cleanest, coolest maps they've played. Nice job Duncan!
Eh, it's good in that it uses TTTs tools well with the traps and objectives (it's obviously well made), but it's extremely linear.
Every round plays similarly once everyone knows the map because there's a set linear path of obvious objectives.
It obviously looks better than those dev_measure orange maps, but those maps typically play a lot better and have a lot more creativity in what the players actually do.
(Same applies to why I dislike traitor testers: they're a static, obvious objective that makes people play less creatively.)
Oh, and it also obviously doesn't have much cyclic design, but TTT is *the* gamemode where that's most a non-issue. (Though it does, again, tend to reduce creativity.)

Im glad others are commenting on the ladder aspect! I am impressed Duncan, you really show great aesthetic taste and placement of detail! I was blown away by the intricacies but just the simple layout was placed very well! I think most would have left places too empty or too cluttered and you killed it!

This map is great! Duncan did a brilliant job on it. I love all the complex sequences and traps. I’m a bit surprised he put so many ladder in it though.
