Eupho in concert is my strong spot. I’m a little bit of a bitch so holding up the marching Bari and the fact that it’s a Bari and not a eupho limits me a bit range wise in marching band. I just gotta get myself some man arms and I should be ight
Not only is it a gross and subtle brag but it is also unlikely true. I am a music education major with a primary in bassoon, and it drives me insane when people claim to play many instruments. Once you hit college you will realize that you don’t truly know how to play them, being able to play a few songs and knowing the fingering is not enough to say you can play all of them… there are so many different aspects that go into actually knowing how to play an instrument. Also this is coming from some one who had to take 4 classes on learning every instrument lmao, but you will never catch me saying I know how to play them
tell me your bragging without telling me your bragging, i play ever brass except horn because horns are too fucking expensive, please PLEASE humble yourself
When you think about it, Tubas are the percussions of the wind section. Back in highschool us tuba players used to ride the bus with the percussions and the majorettes. Talk about a time we had 😂
Almost all of the trumpet players at my school are the absolute weirdest people I’ve met. Don’t even get me started on their playing. There are only a few tolerable players.
As a fellow band kid, I'm gonna rate them too! This is all based off my own experience. *Piccolo:* These tend to be the really good flute players sort of "graduating" to a piccolo. They're really finicky in terms of pitch, it takes a very talented and patient person to keep a piccolo in perfect pitch. 7/10 hurts my ears *Flute:* Best or worst thing you'll hear today, depending on pitch. Lots of fast runs and riffs which are fun to listen to but tricky to play. Flute sections tend to have one or two really annoying people but everyone else is pretty nice. 9/10 will never give up this instrument *Clarinet:* They need a rating higher than 3. Sure, I'll give elementary school clarinets a 3, but when you get GOOD clarinet players, they are smoother than butter. They fill in the gaps you didn't know were there. Although most need some practice before they get to that level. 8/10. *Oboe:* They're honestly really fun! They get a bunch of funky solos that you can listen to instead of counting rests. 10/10 *Alto/Tenor sax:* These are going together, we don't have a lot of saxophones in my band. The players themselves tend to be pretty chill, but are also the most likely to miss their cues. We have some EXCELLENT saxes though. 9/10 *Bari sax:* This is a league of their own. Every bari sax player I've known has been both an amazing musician and one of the craziest people I've met/pos. They're also just an excellent bass instrument. 10/10 love them *Trumpets:* A good trumpet is amazing to listen to. However, in my experience, the good players also tend to be assholes. The other trumpets are usually chill though. 7/10 *Trombone:* Just a good instrument. Most trombone players I've known have been a perfect mix of chill and chaotic. They're very fun to be around, and the instrument I think also reflects this. Just make sure you don't give the saxophones a concussion by mistake. 10/10 excellent instrument *Tuba:* I'm scared of our tuba player. The instrument is nice though. 9/10 *French horn:* Absolutely GORGEOUS, however my french horn friend has proved that it is very capable of destroying my eardrums. 9/10 still very pretty *Euphonium & rest of low brass:* EXCELLENT EXCELLENT they bring in such pretty harmonies on slower songs! 9/10 *Percussion:* They're quite distractable (in the back, gets away with phones/laptops the most) but they bring it together when it matters. 9/10 they're the only thing holding the band together at this point If you're reading this, GO PRACTICE doesn't matter what
I’m a good trumpet player, and I am not an asshole, in fact, none of the trumpets in my current band are assholes. I have only met one asshole trumpet player, and I really wish he wasn’t in the band. Trust me, some great trumpet players are AMAZING friends, they’ll help you, they’ll put up with you, it’s almost like a teacher that works for free.
3:15 alr we’ll take it BUT a lot of it is dependent on air support and once it’s all memorized it’s such a fun instrument and ik it’s corny but once you get good it’s like an extension of yourself
Btw saxophone is top tier. I don't know about other bands out there but my band had all their melephones start as trombone or start on melephone. Another thing about my band is that the baritone always has to play lower than trombone, like I've never seen a baritone play higher than a c
It is. Maybe you could have a case if you were talking about rhythmic percussion instead of pitched percussion, but even then they are still instruments.
As a mello player, I not only feel very happy to be recognized, but I also feel awesome to actually have someone understand that mellos are amazing. Mellos are the best thing that could ever happen to a marching band or drum corps. Mellos are a blessing given by god himself. Mellos are the best.
This real asf. I started on clarinet since 6th grade bro and that shit does not project especially in marching band and is just overall not that fun. Then I tried alto sax cuz it was an easy switch and that shit was so much better. And then… I realized the tenor sax is just superior🤤.
@@leakdeo What you should theoretically be able to do on clarinet, since it works on saxophone and some mouthpieces are actually designed this way, is to raise the baffle (the very tip of the inside of the mouthpiece on the tip side) using beeswax. Should give you more projection.
I actually really liked the clarinet when I picked it lol, I ended up switching to the oboe and bassoon, so I play them too. Once you REALLY know how to play a clarinet, it sounds really good and smooth
4:38 I play my fair share of trombone and honest rating 7.9999/10. This is also coming from a euph player sooooooo. The only reason for the low rating is the only instrument worthy of going higher than 9 is euphonium and the eight spot is reserved for baritone. That being because I have a personal vendetta against b-tones but I just have to put up with it for a few months.
French horn/mello is one for the instruments that solely depends on the player to differentiate it from being extremely beautiful, to ear wrenching. The other instrument is eupho
To be honest, as someone who plays in a symphonic orchestra and a concert band, I think every instrument is good. What really matters is how good the players are and the quality of the piece. In some pieces of music, let's say the clarinets for example, have really boring parts and we barely hear them. In other pieces though, such as Asphalt Cocktail by Jhon Mackey, there is an amazing solo using the whole range of the clarinet and it's really amazing (it's my favorite part of the piece ngl). Or sometimes, the player just doesn't practice and squeaks all the time or is too quiet, which doesn't help.
trumpet and saxophone here, saxophone is only good with a jazz embrochure and tone, if your tone is bland nobody even wants you to have the melody. Trumpet is a W
