Love the Brothers but Tom has to work on hip and core strength/stability if he's going to pull those big deadlift and push those big squats that are going to get him up there. Luke is much more stable on the safe press, DL and squat. My view, you gotta weigh north of 170kg at Tom's height. If Tom puts on 15 kg around the core, ass and shoulders he'll challenge for the WSM and Arnold titles.
@@ShayanGivehchian Absolutely but so is Kieliskowski. Licis isnt old, Thor is only 30, and there are other young guys coming up. They are all going to be around for years. If he wants to beat them he has to improve quicker than they do. Simple. I'm not having a go at him, he's amazing, he's the UK's best chance of a WSM in the near future... but I'm just being honest.

Really excited for the future of the sport though. The lineup for the future WSM contests are gonna be stacked with so many great guys, including the Stoltman's.
Difference is bodybuilders lift weights to look good and for perfect symmetry Whereas strongman lift weight to get strong Conclusion: obv most of bodybuilder get cocky coz they know they look good.

I see this on every video, and I have to say, it has an effect on those who watch as well. Bodybuilding/physique channels, though surely well-meaning, always make me feel like I'm either not lean enough, not strong enough, or both, but strongman just makes me feel good about working out, no matter what I'm doing. I stopped working out to look a certain way, or for the scale to show a certain number, and started doing it just for the fun of it.

The Hercules Hold is one of my favourite strongman events. It is just a proper old school event in my opinion. No bullshit just hold those pillars for as long as you can. It really is a shame to hear about Larry's injury but hey that is a part of the game of strongman. I wish him a speedy recovery and he will come back better than ever.
@Distinctly - ST MD - Average If I'm not mistaken Martin's Licis ( New WSM Champion ) only stands at 6'2. Larry Wheels is 6'1. I believe hard work is what wins championships not size. That's why there are more events than just stones ( Which height plays a role in)

Darren Sadler does a fantastic job of making sure each athlete is comfortable enough with the equipment and understands everything about the implement. This is how WSM should have been run IMO.
It is too funny that On the title it shows " Road to Wembl" . For a second I thought they were talking about Wimbledon. I was like what in the hell are they doing at Wimbledon this year. Now here is some tennis I can watch. This is going to be awesome and I'm going to DVR this for sure.
It's amazing how much more preparation/notice the strongmen get in advance of Giants Live as opposed to WSM. At WSM, it seemed like the strongmen had little or no advance notice of the events and no chance to get acquainted with the equipment.

I'm sure you guys know what you're doing, and I know very little about world-level lifting, but it always looks like both your grips for the overhead are very narrow. This must be something you've experimented with and optimised though right?

Great set of lads the Stoltmans, always a smile and a laugh, when I trained with my brother back in the late 80's early 90's it only took one wrong word and we'd end up scrapping 😆. ( I was only 15/16 he was 16/17). Its great how the strongman is a community that are ready to help each other and mostly ego's are checked. Such a difference to bodybuilding where everyone bitches about everyone and acts like a c##t.

@Kenneth Wilburn fair point, he has good power lifting credentials though which is like to think that's why he was invited. It's not like they've just invited a body builder , he actually lifts heavy shit just not in the strongman style yet 👍

How do you feel about Larry being involved? Am I right in saying you don't mind but it would have been nice if he had earned it?
@Kenneth Wilburn I don't know what to say lol, I guess I can admit I now have a better understanding of the annoyance of Larry being involved in Strongman. Time will tell how well he'll do in the future I wonder who his replacement if any will be.
@@marcmurphy5819 big Loz did a video about it, he thought it was good for the sport since it is still quite a niche sport, just look at the amount of fans Larry has brought over from both bodybuilding and powerlifting. As a long-term fan of strongman I have noticed a massive movement towards strongman in the last 10 months due to Larry, he g Has Definitely made the sport more mainstream. Still, as Loz says he understands the frustration of the guys on the fringe of the pro events as he has been there, and many of them would easily beat him in a true strongman show, even the likes of radjikovski, heinla weren't there. Paul Smith is probably a better strongman. Loz says that we should not get on Larry's back because even though he is jumping the que, he is changing strongman for the future (more popularity = more money, more events and more top level competitors) big Loz's channel is good you should follow him, but he has his injury so no more training bids for a while.

Larry has his feet too far away from the stone, it's pulling away and putting too much pressure on the arms & lats. Sadly, this is probably the source of the arm injury but hey, it's a learning process. I would rep out an 80kg stone to get used to throwing them around a little. how scary do the Stoltmans look in this ha! Podium soon for sure and probably 100k subscribers to go along with it!!!
he explained that he wasn't placing the stone properly and he was focused on speed so during the movement he would "pull" the stone in with his arms which is notorious for causing bicep tears with the stones
