The 8.4 turn was the best I’ve ever seen! Better than the ‘nearly lose it’ turn on the 10 pointer. The 8.4 was the smoothest most powerful, critical, turn ever, with absolutely no loss of control, perfection. Yet non perfection gets the ‘perfect’ score? Something seriously wrong with judging criteria.
I’m not sure there’s ever been a better turn. I’m in awe of John’s talent. What a joy it is to watch him. And George! What a ripper. Looking forward to watching his career.
George Pittar has displayed excellent surfing - but JJ that was an absolutely sublime display of your intimacy with mother nature. Wow you are so dialled into the moment and the choices you make are just pure brilliance. 😍👋
Oh boy, oh boy where do I even begin, John john my love of my life, you are the best thing to ever come into my life. Your searing carves keep me on the edge of my seat, I have never seen such amazing things. You will always be my sunshine and in my heart. Keep on making me proud son.
@@lebowski6061 Firstly the wave. The size and shape, the critical sections it offers. Then secondly for me a tube should be part of a ten point ride. Thirdly, a 10 is in my opinion not something new and different but the same done with mastery and perfection. We have to admit that the clayback (clay marzo style layback snap) is clumsy, it's cool and different but it's aesthetically stupid
@@agathondmiurgus yea I get ya, but I don’t think 10s should be restricted to waves that provide barrel opportunities. Can we not have 10s at Bells then? That turn was as innovative and progressing as you can probably get without going to the air. Sure they’ve been done for a while but not so much on waves this big and on critical sections like that. Each to their own, I think they look sick. I think adding 2 more turns afterwards made the whole wave even more impressive.
@@lebowski6061 Not restricted to waves that provide barrel but defenitely restricted to the wave quality. Is always a combination between the sea and the surfer. The wave makes more than 50% of the 10 point ride in my view. In this contest in Margaret I think the tube should count, but of course Bells offers 10 point rides without tubes. Again every one can disagree but I think that innovation and progress is not in the new and different but in the same thing done with mastery and perfection. Bruce Lee said something like "I don't fear those who train 100 different punches, but those who train the same punch 100 times." (im not a Bruce Lee fan or a follower of quotes but this one apllies) But look, this is all subjective, I understand John's 10, it's in line with current thinking about surf culture in competition.
Congrats to George for an amazing performance throughout the comp. Would love to see him on tour.
He deserves a spot!! Been surfing out of his mind so awesome to see. Up the Pittars!!!
Cant believe he’s back on the challenger! I believe he proved himself in just 2 events! Really brought the heat to some veterans
George is killing It too......
That's the second turn JJF has done like that this comp....it's not even a one off for this guy !?
Yeah my friend check his last three surf videos. View From A Blue Moon from 2015 is a nice start

That was simply incredible!
Give this man the title already!🙌🏻
Bro came off his board twice, gets folded under the lip, and just casually rides out. Hard to fathom what he did on that 10.

Unbelievable
TB on the CT in Fiji
Clayback is cool but… common
What warrants a 10 point ride then?
That is not even close to a common turn haha
