I used to be the latter but I'm the first now. I'm amazed how they made that explosion. Although, I wonder why they didn't used the actual Moffat line which is the route that comes into Denver from the mountains which was where the train was headed to.
I started to see some downsides with the film over the years but even with that I still enjoy watching this film, even if a few scenes and the music can be a bit hard to watch or listen to.
Say what you want about this film but rob lowe did an amazing job. Plus the camera work and all the explosions that go on I think makes it pretty epic.
Hello David here from Sebring Florida USA, I just watched the movie, it was fantastic, long and sad, just to let to let you know American Pickers went to the house of the 2 brothers that made the model train, just look For the show called Movie Magic, Please let me know your thoughts here 😀
Feels weird watching this after seeing the movie so many times over the years. Still, I adore seeing how these things become a reality and the challenges faced when doing them.
The producers of this movie tried to pass off Vancouver BC as Denver. Denver does not have a seaport. Also what usually trips up such fakery is fire equipment in Denver are painted in a white livery, not red.
does anyone think the runaway should've had a somewhat longer consist then what was shown in the movie or know if they really run short trains that far IRL ??????? honestly, 2 engines pulling 9 cars and a caboose seems way to short for a 300 mile long trip in my opinion, maybe something like 3 engines, with the third unit being a cab-less B-unit sandwiched between 642 and 644, while pulling a minimum of 35 cars and a caboose
I think because the company that made atomic train movie could not do that because if they did then it would take John seger longer to get to bomb boxcar and then TCNR 4920 would need 4 units

@@southwestwashingtonrailfan6110 Well these engines were owned by BC Rail. 642 was sold to MHWA Railroad now numbered to 2042 but still in it's BCOL Colors. 643 was Scrapped and 644 now works with the CFS Railway in Quebec.
There's two kinds of people: people who love Atomic Train, and people who despise Atomic Train.

I adore it.
The stunts and special effects are impressive for a made-for-TV movie, real explosions, no CGI 😁
They executed the train derailment, *perfectly.*
I literately thought the scene when the train crashes into the building and derails was all done with real locomotives but seems to be I was incorrect
11 years before Unstoppable.
In 2010.
Today marks the films 20th Anniversary
I loved this movie
I Love It.
@@kevinmills8437 totally amazing footage

In terms of how the train starts losing its brakes That’s pretty unrealistic but I do have to admit this movie is very well-made
Is after Twister and Under Siege 2 for Warner Bros Pictures and
This is film for NBC Home Video in 1999.

This is a made for tv movie so I expected it to be awful but it's actually pretty good
I'm almost done with an animation! I should upload it in the span of 1 day to 1 week because it is drawn frame by frame.
Nice! Sounds like a lot of effort is going into it!
Even though I didn't like the movie it still would have been fun to work on. Messing with trains and blowing stuff up cool
Cheers for posting this
I'm from 01 so I think I was 5or6 when my dad rec it on VHS and God I love it 🥲🥲

Too bad they didn't know how railroad air brakes work, or that trains have hand brakes.
Still a brilliant movie today
That movie used to be here from 2014 until 2019
Tv shows were good back in the days
anyone realize in the movie they failed twice due to people having the wrong radio station?
I want the 1:6 scale model of the locomotives LOL period or what's left of them anyhow!

Has Rob Lowe seen Unstoppable?
MY FAVOURITE MOVIE IS UNSTOPPABLE
forget it Atomic Train is the best
I never saw that movie Unstoppable 2010 , but I already had heard of it
Runaway Train (1985) is the best train film
8:14 lmao💀
They cloud have added more but ok
8:29 Why would a LUMBER company need a magazine to store tnt?
Great question

¡Sí!
OH MY GOSH
The Runaway West Rail 642 train, that had derailed, what building do you think it tore up?
If you're talking about where it was scrapped, I don't know.

What happened to 641?
@@Stan_ETA Ex BC Rail 641 is still around at the Ontario Southland Railway. Its used for part stripping to keep the other M420s running.
@@BNSFTrains10 Check out 6:48 ! In the back is a real locomotive.
anyone know what happened to the model used in the crash scene ?????
I doubt it, people don't usually keep track of models used in movies. I'm willing to bet they just threw it away.
@@southwestwashingtonrailfan6110 that sucks, if they had 642's model for sale, i'd buy it
