Thanks for the great content. We are doing this trip this weekend in inflatable kayaks. This video gave us a great idea of what to expect on this trip. Super Excited to hit this river!
I am really glad to have happened upon this video. I always wanted to make that trip but never did. 82 MFS, about 30 Mains, 1 commercial run on the Selway, starting in 1968. I’ll bet the fishing was pretty good! Thanks for posting😊
I have 0 mains, 0 MFS, 0 Selway, but more SFS than I can possibly count from 1.9' to 6.4'. I don't like the permit system...... Fishing is so, so on the SFS. Its hit and miss. Lots of regulations too.
@@kenjackson4471 Honestly, I expected the fishing to better than it was. I also think next time I would probably do one more day to give more time for fishing…
The frame I have was made for a friends kid so the oar towers are low and tight in. So these oars are 7.5. If I was building a frame for me I would have them higher and further out and run 8ft oars.
We ran in an Avon Adventurer with 8 ft wood oars, home welded oar locks and home made frame. The water was much higher and not clear. We had to bail a lot. Years 83, 84 and 85.
I would not really want to hardshell at those flows. Lots of opportunities to pin. Overall it would go fine I think but would not be my ideal version of a good time. That said, Devon Barker and some pals came down in hardshell boats the week after us.
Super job rowing. What a beautiful place. Really hoping to get on it next year -- perhaps at a little higher water. Great video.

Nice line in the rapid below Hettinger (Greyhound?), gotta avoid the left undercut.
Fuckin electric. Can’t believe the lines you’re hitting in that oar boat. Spud paddler also nailed every line. I hope to get on this next season!
@@kyle.mays97 Thanks. It was super fun.
What a beautiful river - one of my favorite kayak trips! I hope it gets the support and protection it deserves! Great Video!
It is an incredible river we are lucky to have. Totally agree on the protection from a mine going in upstream. Thanks so much.
absolutely fucken epic video and rowing!!! This. Is. My. Dream. #manifesting
There was a lot more water in there in 1984, on our second trip down.
Was there that summer white knuckles truly lovely place
Awesome video! Curious to know if you ran a dry box or what your seat situation was?
@@cameronholt1333 Yup - Drybox that locks in with pins is the seat. Rogue Gear Works out of Merlin Oregon did an awesome job on this little frame.
Great rowing!! I have a 9.5' trib that I have a small frame for- what length oars are you using? Planning an R2 trip for mid- July- can't wait...

5 ft is much better
