I've just jumped on here as I've just purchased a beautiful pashley princess sovereign. The Brooks saddle is just lovely and as I'm trying to work out how to proofide it, I'm watching their local firm make bags. I can't tell you how happy I am, that you kept your factory open and in England, I was a machinist 15 years ago and the firm sent it abroad and I secretly have a love of sewing. I'm looking on line right now and getting a bag for my pashley......
I own three Brooks products, a B17 saddle and two Brooks - Challenge saddle bags (made in Italy). I am very happy with the saddle, but one bag disappoints me. The strap assemblies fell apart (still during installation) and I had to take it in for repair. This brought frustration and distrust to outsourced manufacturing.
I ride my bike a lot and the strap on Barbican started to tear almost immediately after I started to use it. This was my second bag and I could definitely notice the change in quality. Unfortunately I am not covered by warranty since I just got the bag a month and a half ago from a friend (he bought it about two years ago and used it only a few times untill he gave it to me). I think he even got his bag because at the time I couldn't stop talking how I like mine :) I hope that the issue has been solved, not sure how i can solve mine...
Bought a Barbican Bag two years ago poor quality and manufacture. After barely 2 years the strap is totally frayed and the buckles worn. Brooks is definitely not producing quality goods these days!
James, your bag is covered under warranty. We had an issue with that particular strap material and it has since been replaced. I will PM you to offer a replacement, free of charge.
Once you own a Brooks product there is no going back. Took a trip last year to buy my bag and wonderful experience - thanks.
