    This particular whisky is very alcohol feeling at the begin for me, I used to keep it rest for a 30 mins at least (without any water) and the evolution is so much better, more notes, smoothness, etc; probably the oxigen change a little bit the liquid, it is my theory, some drinks are like that, needs a time to be made, also needs a time to be drink.

      Interesting! Sounds like you've got a pretty sensitive palate. But, we have definitely learned that everyone has sensitivities towards different things. I for one have a sensitive nose for the rubbery smelling sulfers (sniff a Macallan 12). Pay attention to your senses and they'll steer you toward what you will find to be awesome scotch!

      We just did a Glenfiddich comparison recently and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this glass. It’s got great flavor for the money. Glad to have you with us on your scotch journey.

    While visiting Scotland in 2014, I did a tour of the Glenfiddich distillery. Part of the tour includes going to the warehouse that contain the solera vat. Its HUGE. About the same size as an above-ground swimming pool, but much deeper. The smell is amazing.

    Guys I love this bottle! $49.00 here!😀 Might be my next daily drinker! I would score it higher because of my price range!😁 Cheers!

    I really like this expression. But I think it has changed over the years. I recentky opened a bottle I bought 10 years ago and it is much more complex and deeper in flavor then current bottlings.

      @Scotch4Dummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +cato cato That's really interesting as it makes sense with the Solera process. We were discussing after the recording that over time the vat will eventually move closer and closer to 15 year old scotch whereas when they first started the contents were older....it's a good bottle and a safe pour for any guest!

      And still it's one of their best whisky's even today.

    Please clarify what does it mean by 2.5 in term of scoring.?. Base on what scale from you ?. Thanks.
    I am a beginner scotch. I would like to be on Sweet Taste scatch side,, any recommendations ?. CHEERS.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do our reviews based on how much scotch we would like poured in our glass. Our highest score is a 4 so a 2.5 would be an above average scotch. We try to take all the factors into account that anyone would think about when standing in a store deciding on a bottle including price, availability, flavor and nose and give it a score based on if we would want to buy the bottle ourselves.

    Look out for the new 14 year old Bourbon Barrel Reserve (basically bourbon cask matured Glenfiddich that was finished in new oak casks). I'd say Glenfiddich is trying their hand at a dessert Scotch because it was easily sweeter (heavy vanilla notes) than the other members of the range.

      +shuboy05 We actually reviewed that one already. It was our Halloween episode. We have another bottle of this on the bar right now. It was good but if you want our full review m.th-cam.com/video/w4cG0aokIPM/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!

    Hi , I am a kind of winexcited drinker ym yum🙄🤒. Anyhowe, I would like to try this scouch as my first scotch timer drinker. Regardless about the alcohol content , I am wondering does this Gfdidich 15 yes taste sweet as semi dry , haLe sweet wine ?. I am a kind of sweet tooth person . I hope thieverything glenfiddich15 is not bitter, is it sweet a bit ?, please let me knowith. Thanks for the review,.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are looking for a really sweet scotch, I think there are others that may fit the description better. This is a more full bodied scotch, but since it is a speyside it is not overwhelming. You should be able to find this one at a bar and try it out for yourself before you buy it. I would point you to Dalmore 12 yr or 15 yr as a sweeter fruiter scotch if that is the way your preference runs.

    Interesting that you mention that you smell more alcohol when you added water... that's very common due to the water separating the oils and other components from the alcohol... so initially the alcohol will be more prevalent...

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ironically, more often than not I get sweeter smells after a drop or three....so this one caught me off guard.

    LOVE the GLENFIDDICH 15 Solera! Very Floral with Spice in the right places. Classic Speyside. Not sure if I shared my notes. but here they are:
    When I opened the Bottle a Strong Nose of warm heated Raisins as in Raisin Toast hit my Nose, Beautiful introduction. I let the Pour Sit for an hour while I showered and did the dishes, etc.
    COLOR: Golden Brown with many Legs moving Slowly Down the Snifter.
    NOSE: After the Rich Raisin Nose at Bottle opening; there were Floral Notes and Sweet Bread Dough and Malt. The Floral Notes grow as the Whiskey sits in the Glass.
    PALATE: Light Sweetness, mixed with Light Pepper. As I Swirl the Whisky in my mouth Floral Notes Come to the Fore and Sweet Malty notes arise as I take air in.
    FINISH: Drying Sweetness mixed with Slight Pepper.
    This is a Beautiful Floral and Fruity Dram. Perfect for Spring and Summer or anytime one wants to be transported to Spring/Summer. I was transported back to the Tasting as I enjoyed my Glass tonight. Love the Fruity/Floral Nose that invites one to savor the Flavor and Slowly Explore the the Sweet Floral, Fruity Complexity. I was Blown away by the Raisin notes that hit my Nose as I opened the Bottle.

    You hit the nail on the head with the banana on the nose. Really like this stuff but it's just too damn easy to drink.
    Its also a pity that glenfiddich feel the need to color it.
