Peter "Chap" Cleere is a Fianna Fail General Election Candidate for Carlow Kilkenny. Peter Cleere is a member of Kilkenny County Council for over 10 having been first elected in 2014
Peter topped the Poll in the new Callan Thomastown Electoral Area 2019 with 1,945 votes and was elected on the first count and again in 2024 with 2,057. Peter is the Current Deputy Chair of Kilkenny County Council and was Chair of Kilkenny County Council from 2019 to 2020 and was Mayor of Kilkenny from 2018-2019.
Outside of Politics Perer or Chap would be known through his involvement in Kilkenny GAA were he won 2 All Ireland Senior Hurling Medals with Kilkenny in the mid 2000s
Chap has also managed Carlow Intermediate Camogie team and was up to recently Kilkenny Senior Camoige Manager who bowed out at the quarter final stage after defeat to Dublin in the 2024 All Ireland Camogie Championship.
