You have found the secret to being happy, for about 50 years I have refused to jump and run into my day. I feed the birds, eat a slow breakfast and think what is important to do next then I sit down and read my Bible.
Gabe, grabbed a journal one of my kids gave me, wrote down the most important things to me, then made a conscious choice to reschedule my life so that I can include them, rather than have regrets later. Learned about 24-hour scheduling when in college. It included scheduling free time.
Hi Gabe, I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and appreciate what you have to say in this. I’m in my last semester of graduate school and over the last six years been trying to simplify as much as possible in life since a relationship ended and also focus on sustainability, supporting local, buying less, etc. This episode brought a lot of value because the stress is on in my life to finish graduating in April and I’m trying to resist the tide of what everyone else expects me to be doing after school, and instead carve my own path of more simplicity and satisfaction to live more slowly, instead of succumbing to societal or family pressure currently pushing to be this or do that or make this much money in order to be successful. My chosen career is as a librarian, and I hope others get to see this video and realize they don’t have to live competitively for others, in order to live effectively for themselves. While I’m not yet fully minimalist yet, I’m still on the life journey to be, and so I thank you for creating content like this to keep inspiring others on their own journeys. Please take care, and well wishes to your family.
Thank you so much I tried to live simple but I’ve been holding onto a lot of clothes shoes and books that I don’t need . toda I am making the decision to let those things go. I feel a tad bit lighter already.❤❤❤
Great vid man! Kinda aligns with what I've always had in the back of my mind but never put into fruition. I might try this out instead of trying to stimulate myself all the time
I always enjoy your videos and have been dialing in my finances, clutter, and time for a while now. I have a long ways to go, but am still headed in the right direction. My hope would be that younger people learn the lesson you are teaching in this video. I've run run run my entire adult life. At 57 years old, I'm starting to understand t he value in slowing down. Wish I would have got this when I was younger. I still have a long ways to go.
I started taking my little kids to the pool 4 months ago. It's so mindful! My only job is keeping an eye on the three girls and it's just enough work that I can't do anything else. I come out feeling so relaxed :)
Thank you for the video. I started watching your channel in December and it has helped me quite a bit. I've made it my goal for this year to reduce the amount of stuff I have. It's just one small space a day, like a shelf or a storage bin. Taking these small steps to decluttering reduces the stress of the process and helps me to stay on track. It'll be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year.
I love this idea, & after watching so many decluttering videos I am thinking “why haven’t I thought of that?”😵💫Decluttering can be so overwhelming at times, even though I really have gotten rid of so many things we do not need. Thank you for a truly valuable nugget of inspiration!
Im 55 and feel like I've been living somebody else's life for most of it bc of the fast relentless pace. Thanks for posting these vids! Feel like I'm finally waking up!
Gabe were we separated at birth we have been living a similar life albeit I'm a 60 yr old Brit I'm not into the gym and I've no where near the liquidity you have . Only wish i had begun my journey 30 years ago it would have stood me in goodstead. You are doing a good thing in the world lots of people will benefit from the messages you are getting out there xx
I love your content gabe!!! addicted to learning how to live slowly - I have a little one and the chaos can really take over! You are an inspiration. 🎉
No to hiking barefoot outdoors. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a shard of glass and a rusty nail in the bottom of my Merrells. A friend picked up a parasite through the bottom of her feet while vacationing in Cancun a few years back, sick for 1+ years!
As usual, you give me a lot to think on. Thank you. Have you ever done a video where you look at moving into a new place and not creating clutter in the first place?
Great Video 🎉 I am now 60 year old and I do not know what it is to work full time. My wife and I have never work more than 2 days/week (All we kept is a 6 months emergency fund) So we could enjoy the most important things: making good friends, hiking, reading, learning new things, listening & playing music…
Thank you, I have ADHD and I feel like I'm constantly running after a version of me I'll never be and always regret after. I want to keep it up with my studies but also not do too much because I know I'll burn out. I want to have time to spend with my friends, with myself, with my mother. I'll definitely try to do what it is important RIGHT NOW, while I sleep well, do my workouts that I love and set a little time a day to study English (it's not my first language). I'm 20 years old and I feel like I was never happy in my own skin and I WANT TO!!! Thank you for the videos
I need to watch this again and make some note cards that I can stock around my mirror. I already practice some, but others a gentle nudge reminder OR my husband happening to read them and think about making changes 😁 I love being barefoot and wearing minimalist/zero drop shoes, but being a Neurodivergent I can think like 8 things at once; it takes literal effort and work or 100% interest to silence/singular focus my mind.
I love your videos. So engaging and a fresh perspective ❤ I also love how you to talk about how important your family is to you. As a fellow content creator, i’ve found so many people that will suggest that over grinding lifestyle and its exhausting
Good Habits I've adapted thank you fir your guidance! You have a great calmness about you its been about 6 months since I've listened to you. All the best & congrats
"Calmly" : awesome, this is what i really needed to hear, from you, thank you for sharing. thank you for your energy for getting this out here : ))))) Thank you
The concept of slowing down and being in the present, as well as defining one's values, are all the most important things that our society must do to live in peace and save the earth. I hope that your videos will reach millions of people who will follow your advice.
I’ve just subscribed ! Great content, getting you that tiny bit closer to your Tesla goal. I am finding it hard to do investments, you work hard to make that tiny bit of money which you know you should invest but are too scared Becuase it’s taken you so long to make and you don’t want to loose it fast. However i know 100% that it needs to be invested otherwise you can never progress in your finances.
Just finished my journal entry where i talked about making my daily routine even simpler. This video popped first when i opened TH-cam(after entry). It’s just a coincidence but the universe is also trying to help, if you really wanted it.
I identify with your subject in this video. I’ve been practicing presence the last couple of years. I’m happy that you’re finding this at an early age. I was fascinated by the cadence of your speech. Really slowed it down. 😊
Slowing down and living in the present is something that I've really concentrated on the last few weeks. Live in the "now" and let the past stay in the past, no need to dig it back up, and allow the future to unfold as it will. Don't stress over what hasn't happened yet. Focus on now and enjoy it more.
The burden I feel is that the only way to avoid getting yelled at by bosses, clients, etc. is to go full speed all the time. Then I worry about the quality of my work, which increases that burden, and when I get through traffic and get home, I have to be "on" for the wife and kids. There is no real downtime, no opportunity to slow down. This is my reality, not in any way trying to disagree with the video. I am just lost at how to actually accomplish this and keep my job and family happy.
Thank you, I'm glad I found a comment like this. There's nothing inherently wrong with the suggestions in this video, but to be honest they kind of ignore the reality that most people live in career-wise. Much of what is being suggested here seems kind of tonedeaf in terms of being only viable for people who *can* "take control of their schedule". If the kind of career you've invested years into has an expectation of time/energy commitment that's not up to you to decide (e.g. 60+ hr work weeks in IT project management), there are very limited options in integrating slow living. Yes small habits can be integrated into our personal lives and free time, but ultimately the only suggestion for some people to live the way that's being suggested in this video is to quit their job. The primary issue with most TH-cam guru culture is that they're time management and lifestyle suggestions being taken from people who almost entirely get to dictate their own work structure on a day-to-day basis. It's unreasonable...
simple take away: taking slow making things orderly and avoiding mediocrity. Thanks Gabe! Thinking again to connect to you and talk about the Reformation bible stuff...
4:38 you’re at risk of getting hookworm disease doing that. It’s not as common in the U.S. but I’d still keep it in mind if you have an unexplained rash or diarrhea, etc.
I really enjoyed this one. It’s the path I’ve been on since adopting minimalism (I noticed you didn’t say minimalism at all, wondering if it was intentional) I definitely can relate to having a bunch of junk shirts I’ll never wear. Time to clear them out
Gabe, please do a whole video on not letting other people control your time. I'm currently battling with this in my 9-5 and my side gig. It's causing a little anxiety. I want to do the things but on my own non-urgent terms ya know.
The paradox of this video about simplifying your life is that instead of just listening ,by the way, very wise ideas of the author, we have to be dealing with that annoying music in the background which consists of a simple motive, repeating itself over and over and drilling in my brain constantly without mercy. :). these days people add music and all possible, kind of effects and additional sounds to pretty much every video, just because they can.
You have found the secret to being happy, for about 50 years I have refused to jump and run into my day. I feed the birds, eat a slow breakfast and think what is important to do next then I sit down and read my Bible.
Listening while I walk through a woodland. Lovely.
I've felt stuck in life for a year or so, but your videos are giving me hope. Keep up the great work Gabe.
Hope you find the strength to keep moving forward! You got this 😊
Eureka moment. Changing from living to reach my goals to living by my values.
Gabe, grabbed a journal one of my kids gave me, wrote down the most important things to me, then made a conscious choice to reschedule my life so that I can include them, rather than have regrets later. Learned about 24-hour scheduling when in college. It included scheduling free time.

The editing on this video is superb! Keep it up!
Slowing down has been a huge priority for me in the recent years. I couldn’t agree with your wisdom more. Thank you for making another great video!
I'm so addicted to your TH-cam videos. I can't thank you enough for sharing these with us.
No matter which season or stage we are at in our lives, contentment leads to great gain. ❤
he does one thing in every video. which is - making a lot of sense.
love u bro 💗
Thank you so much I tried to live simple but I’ve been holding onto a lot of clothes shoes and books that I don’t need . toda I am making the decision to let those things go. I feel a tad bit lighter already.❤❤❤
As always, thank you for another quality video. I find myself watching or listening to them multiple times because they are so encouraging and calm.

Gabe, I am at the point of thinking the same way as you on this. You're right. It's taken me a long time to get this. Better late than never, I guess.
Love your editing and your calming voice. No new information but spun in a great format and very reinforcing!
Mindful, balanced life.. Thanks!!

I look forward to your Monday uploads, thanks Gabe! Another great video. It’s how I started the year and there’s no going back now 🤗
Thanks for watching!
I appreciate that you have tried slow living for a year before advocating for a change in other people.
Hi Gabe❤. I Appreciate you and everything you give on here.
And I highly respect you❤. More than any man I’ve met❤❤❤
Thank you Gabe.. i usually slow down once in a while now...

Great video ❤
Thank you so much for this video. My partner and I have been practicing slow living for the last few years and it's been absolutely life changing.

It definitely can a lot depends on your mindset though
No to hiking barefoot outdoors. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a shard of glass and a rusty nail in the bottom of my Merrells. A friend picked up a parasite through the bottom of her feet while vacationing in Cancun a few years back, sick for 1+ years!
Definitely a positive Mindset Brilliant as always 💚

Thanks for a great video Gabe. Are you mindful of your speaking tone / speed? I found this video so peaceful and relaxing after a busy day.
Best Intro edit :)
Better and better! Clear and slow 🙂 Thanks!
Thank you. Love your videos. I am making progress.

Thanks for an other great video. I really have to start with these small canges instead the giant steps that I always want to make and that fail.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint
Great video love watching you, how do you declutter your jobs ect when you are always stuck in auto pilot

You were in Colombia. Fantastic! Well I’m from Colombia living in UK and I really miss my link with the nature on Colombian way
Really admirable may be we can further broad canvas by visiting ones o

so relatable...same situation
I feel your comment 100%
This is kind of why “man caves” or a study is important. Men have a place to hang out alone and relax.
UR Son/Daughter Is so CUTE God bless Him/her :)
Good inspiration
simple take away: taking slow making things orderly and avoiding mediocrity. Thanks Gabe!
Thinking again to connect to you and talk about the Reformation bible stuff...
I love the cup at the beginning of the video ❤❤❤ from where please?
Just found your channel and I'm hooked ! New subscriber
Thank you for your uplifting videos. You are an inspiration!

This is cool video bro what you explained that is true. ❤

cool cup!
Great video as always!
Great videos man. Look forward to them every week.
“Everything you have is kinda your favorite.” Add in that everything you *do* is also your favorite and there’s essentialism for you.
Love this!
What is Ur main ob that U do 9 to 5 and What You have study in Collage?

I 100% agree! People steal your time and it’s hard to set boundary’s sometimes!
Can so relate. We hear so much about saying no. In reality it’s a lot harder to do for most peoples life situation.

I m super curious where you got those cups from 😇😅
The two minute rule changed my life for the better and now I wanna try living a slow life.
It is OK to have a creative hobby that is not a side hustle ❤. Making a mess is fun 😂
Watching slow living on 1.5 speed... yeah boi
when to comes to simplify life, a great combination of BOOKS to sparkle this mindset is Essentialism and The One Thing
i always struggle with anxiety and fearing things that MIGHT happen..
So buy from the thrift store unless is sponsored??
