God knows all possible futures and all possible pasts (makes perfect sense with the multiverse), which would explain how some prophecies were conditional, some carried out in different ways, etc.
Oh man I love this sooooo much. I love hearing theology and practical Christian living from people with philosophical knowledge. I find their teachings/insights to be much more thought out and coherent
We are created for a relational purpose. This is why He gave us the ability to reject Him. It's also why He does not force Himself upon us, He wants us to seek after Him of our own volition. And it's why He died for our sins, to repair the separation between us (between God and humans).
@@bamboo1763 1) No, it's because of sin. 2) Goodness requires justice. 3) Rejecting Jesus does not condemn us; we are already condemned by our own sins. Rejecting Jesus is the rejection of God's forgiveness.
@@droe2570 1) sin is merely disobedience to god, and not all disobedience directly cause death meaning death is imposed to enforce his will and not the natural consequence of sin. 2) part is goodness is justice, but sacrificial death is neither justice nor good (because It makes salvation conditional on obedience to god) 3) god forgiving people is entirely his decision and is not affected by any other factors unless it's used as a condition for a slave contract.
@@bamboo1763 1 is incorrect. This is because you do not understand God or sin. 2 You ignored love for another person, that you sacrifice yourself willingly to save another. 3 God chose to forgive us, but we do not have to accept that forgiveness. You are also confusing slavery with freedom. Through the grace of God we are free from sin, which hurts us and others, free from death, free from punishment for our sins. Jesus says, "I come to give you life, life in all its fullness." If you confuse goodness and perfection with slavery, then you understand neither freedom nor slavery. We are slaves right now, slaves to sin and the law which condemns us. Only through Christ are we free of these things. The reason why your response to 1 is incorrect is because you do not know what God is. God is not like your neighbor or your mom and dad. God is the source of all things--life, goodness, love, truth, wisdom, etc. Opposing God is to oppose your own life. Sin is us saying we would rather die than live. This is why Jesus says "I am the way, the truth and the life...." He was not being cutesy, he was being literal. God is quite literally life and truth and rightness. After all, he made us, engineered us, to live certain ways. Our sin is the choice to reject God's perfect design, which includes goodness, life, love, truth, and so on.

The argument comparing human tolerance of finite suffering vs infinite suffering for the sake of the implicit value of life is so bad. If you have a rebellious child you don’t kill them (if you’re sane) because they’re you’re child, they’re literally an extension of you, the suffering they experience in this life is finite. You know there’s always a chance they’ll come back to you having learned from the suffering and worst case the suffering will end. If you knew that rebellious child would suffer FOREVER in absolute flaming agony once they leave your house would the value of knowing “well at least they’re “alive” outweigh them not even existing? If you know that suffering no matter how long it takes will ultimately lead to them coming home and having a relationship with you again or the first time for that matter that changes the entire situation. I’ll say I’m with IP in the sense I’m still trying to work out which version of hell is true I’ve seen the case made for each one in convincing ways, and for every verse about eternal suffering or fire there’s one about the restoration of all things and paying the last penny, verses about Christ saving the world especially those who believe. I’m paraphrasing of course, and like I mentioned before I’ve seen every one of these verses used to make the case for all 3 views on hell.
Then three years ago - after four days of a palpable spiritual attack - I cried out to Jesus. And He responded in ways that I can't even put into words.

eventual self annihilation doesn't fit the biblical text though, matt 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." is Jesus telling unbelievers to fear themselves? in the sheep and the goats parable, the goats are in Jesus' left hand and they are cast into the eternal fire, the hell texts don't speak of God indirectly judging unbelievers, but its an active and direct judgement.
Hi IP, I didn't make it to the stream so I wasn't able to ask you a question I had in mind. Do you agree with Mullins about God's temporal nature? I personally find the idea of God being temporal troubling, because if God exists in time, then He is subject to natural processes and therefore changes, however I hadn't heard much of what other Christians think of it.
Has Dr. Mullins written on divine simplicity? I’m learning towards divine simplicity and I’m willing to hear his argument in opposition. Where can I find his arguments on divine simplicity?
He did have one debate with Dr. Gavin Ortlund on the topic. While the two didn't seem to have the greatest ability to interact with eachother's views, I think that could be a decent start, if you haven't watched that already. I am afraid I don't happen to know of any other works of his on the topic.
the problem i have with annihilationism is that it seems to go against the saying "God loves the sinner but hates the sin", If God does really love the sinner, then he would annihilation the sin, not the sinner, this is like God burning down the whole house because of some mold infestation, rather than getting rid of the mold itself.
Seems to me that free will is overlooked. Also the analogy isn't a good one because the drywall gets no say (free will) whether it gets infested by mold. So God is NOT throwing the whole house down with no fault of the moral free chooser. Instead, God chooses to destroy sin AND the moral agent of it! God could love someone maximally but if God chose to give free will of choice then his love is not violated.
@@Lungulescu17 Right the analogy may be flawed, but I think my point still stands, if God loves the sinner but hates the sin, then he would destroy the sin, not the sinner, and its the sin that corrupts the human will to where its not free, if ones will is stained with sin, how can there wills be truly free even to the point where God puts their eternal destiny in their own hands? you say God can be maximally loving while at the same time exterminating the sinner from existence because of free will, I don't see how this follows because giving someone so much free will to where it puts them in serious danger, (even eternal danger) can be unloving, like allowing your child to play with a real gun because he wants to, would be an unloving thing for a parent to do.

@ you’re misunderstanding, tepsectultl( the biblical definitions of love and hate. Showing passages that show God loves and loved us (which are very true and important) don’t negate the passages that speak about Gods hate. Hate and love are not opposites in the Bible that cannot occur at the same time. There are a number of passages in the Bible that speak about Gods hatred for the person. If we don’t define “hate” as “preferring the worst for someone” but rather as “a disdain for a person’s moral character” then they fit together perfectly well and God can both love and hate someone and we can accept both sets of passages.
"To work in His garden (Earth), I suppose, as the Bible suggests, is the reason for humanity's creation. If God wanted only love and worship, wouldn't the angels, who were created with free will, be enough? After all, it was this free will that led to the rebellion. So, God wouldn’t need to create humans just to have more beings worshiping Him. There must be a specific purpose, especially since humans were created on Earth and given dominion to lead and care for the animals." Let me know if you’d like further adjustments!
@@Yashkingman God fed me those lines. If you have a problem, drop another note in God's suggestion box. He told me that He can't get along without your valuable suggestions! ;) And you are talking nonsense.
@nameless-yd6ko nonsense yes lets talk some sense in it shell we Say those words to the people who supposedly died in the imaginary flood that allegedly happened 4,400 years ago. Or consider the origin of death, which, according to your religion's core theology, began around 6,000 years ago, claiming that death entered the world through sin. And then, there's the promise of deliverance from sin and death through the death of Jesus. What about the evidence-less Exodus event or the claim of the sun and moon stopping in the sky? And how do you address the treatment of the Canaanites and other races within this narrative? Why would Jesus need to die if death isn’t caused by sin but is simply a natural process that has been happening for billions of years? Where do dinosaurs fit into this narrative? Did they exist before the flood, or were they part of the creation of a world that, according to your theology, is only 6,000 years old?
You might argue that the sun and moon weren’t created on the fourth day, despite the text saying so. Or what about the story of a talking snake deceiving humans 6,000 years ago? For what reason, exactly? And why was no one there to intervene if something so catastrophic was about to happen? Why do the four Gospels tell different stories if they’re all divinely inspired? For instance, Matthew gives Jesus a genealogy going back to Abraham, while Luke takes it all the way to Adam-because why not go big? Even better, they can’t agree on who Joseph’s father was. Bart Ehrman and other textual critics point out that these contradictions aren’t just innocent mistakes-they reveal that each Gospel writer had their own agenda. If divine inspiration can’t get genealogy straight, how reliable is the rest? Then there’s the worldwide census in Luke 2. You’re telling me the Romans, history’s most efficient administrators, thought it was a good idea to make everyone travel back to their ancestral towns for a headcount? No Roman historian mentions this, and it’s logistically absurd. Imagine telling millions of people to drop everything and trek across the empire just to fill out some paperwork. Richard Carrier and other historians note that this policy doesn’t appear in any Roman record. It’s almost like Luke made it up to force Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem to fit a prophecy. And let’s talk about the massacre of the innocents. Herod allegedly killed every male child under two in Bethlehem, but oddly, Josephus-who loved writing about Herod’s atrocities-didn’t mention it. This is the same guy who documented Herod killing his own family members, but a village-wide baby massacre somehow escaped his notice? Scholars like John Dominic Crossan suggest this story was invented to make Jesus look like the new Moses. How convenient. Oh, and the timeline of Jesus’ birth? Herod died in 4 BCE, yet Luke ties Jesus’ birth to a census under Quirinius in 6 CE-a full decade later. Did the writers think no one would notice? Raymond E. Brown and other scholars highlight this glaring contradiction as a major problem for the “historical” narrative. It’s almost as if history wasn’t the priority.

I'm sorry to hear about that. There's a very real chance that you wouldn't have become a sincere Christian without your mother's early death. I know for a fact that I would not be a Christian right now if it wasn't for immense suffering that I experienced in my early life. As for your daughter, I'm not sure. Maybe God is using her condition to sanctify you so that you're ready to aptly fulfil a certain role in the future. Raising a daughter with schizophrenia does require a lot of virtues, such as patience. Although we can't be certain of God's motives, we can trust in the goodness of His character and that, ultimately, He's orchestrating everything towards the best possible outcome.

@@joshuaparsons887 it's entirely made up. there is no authority that supports philosophy, that philosophy is founded on, except the mind and heart of man and scripture tells us that the heart of man is consumed by sin, by rebellion, by hatred for God. what does that tell you about philosophy?
Wait! Can you be Christian and not believe in spiritual beings? How would you then describe angles? The demon named Legion that the bible describes? Am I missing something?
The Bible is pretty explicit that other spiritual beings exist, both in the Old and New Testament. But as Dr Mullins explained, there isn't a huge amount of detail given in Scripture, which is why so much of angelology (and demonology) relies on extra-Biblical writings. As a Christian, I've learnt that where the Bible is silent, it's probably silent for a reason. In the case of angels, I think it's unwise and possibly even dangerous to engage in too much speculation. The Gospel should be our ultimate focus, and yes that includes a broad recognition that spiritual forces outside ourselves are both real and very powerful. But to focus too much on those spiritual forces, to the exclusion of the Gospel, is how we end up with things like The Lesser Key of Solomon and Enochian sorcery. (As Ecclessiastes 10:8 puts it, "He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him.") Having said all that, the late scholar Dr. Michael Heiser has done a remarkable job of putting the pieces together regarding what can be known about angelic principalities and powers, grounded in Scripture rather than more esoteric/speculative sources. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you check out some of Dr Heiser's books, documentaries, lectures etc.
Regarding your specific question about whether one can be a Christian and not believe in the supernatural? Some so-called "progressive" Christians are dismissive of miracles in general (e.g. they don't believe in the virgin birth), and would probably view the exorcisms that Jesus performed as metaphorical, not actual. I find this position quite problematic - it's technically known as "Christian non-realism".
Thank you for your response! I will look into Michael Heisers work. I just find it confusing when Christians don't fully believe in angels when they are talked about in the gospels; The angel talking to Mary and the angel in Jesus's tomb. What would their take on those occasions be?
@@bamboo1763 it’s heartbreaking you think that of the God who gave us the gift of life. He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. God bless you, beautiful soul! I will pray for you, whatever is going on in your life, trust in Jesus and he will show you His love. Everything will be alright ❤
This is a very easy question. Why did God create us? Why does anyone have a child knowing there are risks to them not obeying you or unexpected sin. God didn't fall. We did. Because he love you and hopes and pray you listen to Him because His advice is much wiser than ours. We start out with the mind of a child and get molded based on your parents examples and you hope when they become fully matured adults they will have learned everything necessary to fight off the fiery darts of satan and be unfazed. Bottom line. God created us cause he loves us and wants to do good for us. He, being the father, is more wise and knows how to best direct us and expects us to honor his wisdom and power and knowledge so that we won't come to ruin even if we experience hardship if we know and keep the faith he will see us through it. It's much like a parent, and why did they have a kid.
at 28 min I think Mullins is severely mistaken on the nature of emotions and particularly with regards to love. Now love simplex, or agape certainly is the desire for another to be happy. In truth I think there is nothing about love which requires union. Rather it seeks harmony and therefore delights in beauty. As to emotions being rooted in values, no not at all. Emotions are frames of mind, sort of modes we shift into based on what seems appropriate to the situation. Now, you may say that this "what seems appropriate" is based on values, however I would disagree. The main impetus for most emotional shifts is a physiological reaction. We notice how our body feels and this clues us into what emotion is appropriate. It doesn't have to be like this. We can choose to feel a certain way, we may have an emotion motivated by values. But this is not necessarily the case. Now you may argue that the body values certain things implicitly. To this I'd say that it is true in the sense that the body disposes us to certain values largely by motivating us to emotive reactions, but the body itself does not hold morals. It is perhaps shaped by them and by extension connected to values but the relation is anything but direct or essential. Love is not an emotion at all, but a desire. Desires form relationships and certain relations will dispose us to certain motions in certain situations, but I would say we ought to emphasize the physicality of emotions and not link them essentially to anything mental. The mental rather may stem from the physical or motivate it, but neither is essential to the other. If we should say anything it should rather be that there is a mutually reciprocal relationship between values and emotions but this relation is not essential to either. Emotions have their root in the limitations of the physical world, the need for pressing action. If a being had no need to act at a particular moment or if it had the mental capacity to consider every course of action at any given moment before making a decision, I can see no reason for it to have emotions whatever it values. and a creature that does not necessarily value anything, let is say a worm or an ant, can still have emotions. An ant can fear even though it cannot consciously even be aware of what it fears or value its life. The emotion is purely a physiological reaction.
I cringe a bit when someone presumes to tell us what God thinks, what God feels, intends, plans, knows, wishes. I like philosophy but it has limits. Is this philosopher creating God in his own image?
I don't think it is so long as it is based in the scripture. The Bible is meant to be a meditative text so there is nothing wrong with thinking about it deeply and bringing lessons out of it. He does seem to base his arguments in scripture-based theology and just logically argues from that foundation.
We are told these things in scripture. It's just in our Western we have such a Greek mindset of God rather than the Hebreiac one that that scriptures were written in that we dismiss that God has made Himself known in lots of ways!!

Creation is inseparable from the creator. Therefore, creation has no beginning nor will it ever have an end, let alone a reason to create. As our timeless "Mother of God" (mother and son) iconography suggests, matriarchal and patriarchal spirituality are inseparable and coexist through an understanding of God's eternal cyclical nature. Represented by the serpent in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth). The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle. As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8). Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experiences associated with the transpersonal awakening process. In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld; her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle. Mary's anointing and wiping of Jesus's feet with her hair can then be seen as "Head to tail" (toe) imagery as she descends her matriarchal head to his patriarchal feet, thus reenacting the high understanding of the divine cyclical process. (John 12, verse 3) To carry the Ankh (now the female symbol ♀️) was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle. Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society. Ganesha (like the elephant) wears God's cyclical nature on his face. A whole temple was dedicated to Hathor (ancient Egyptian diety), who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. th-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/w-d-xo.html "See all women as mothers, serve them as your mother. when you see the entire world as the mother, the ego falls away. See everything as Mother and you will know God." - Neem Karoli Baba "My son, keep thy father's commandment and forsake not the law of thy mother" - Proverbs 6 : 20
God isn't real, if he was -the Bible would have the holy power to convert everyone. The truth would be forever true. Exposing everything else as false. -God would fight satan and demons so evil wouldn't spread. -there would be one religion of Christianity and one perfect church -we would see miracles or signs that God is real. -God would reveal him self so everyone knows he's real, and would save everyone. Only then after seeing God, the truth, his goodness, and knowing their actions are evil that people still reject God, that's when you send them to hell.
@joshuaparsons887 logic. -If he wanted everyone to know he is real, then reveal yourself. -If he wanted everyone to understand the truth, have a method for everyone to understand. If it's the Bible, make it holy and impossible to be corrupted, and let everyone have access to it. -if he wanted us to believe in him, do miracles in front of everyone to prove he has the power. -------------- Only a few people saw Jesus, or the miracles, or will ever hear about God, or own a Bible and understand it. People don't believe Or believe in their own truths Because God doesn't clarify everything. He doesn't, because he's not real.
@@JordanBrown-r9f no it wouldn't. You still would have the free will to choice if you wanted to believe and serve God, or not. How would this take away free will?
@HOLYVEXZEL if God revealed himself in all his glory, and your not a perfect being, you wouldn't even be able to be in his presence, let alone deny him. Anything where his action forces our hand is a violation of our free will. He did reveal himself. In the bible, and Jesus. But that's not good enough for you. Which isn't God's problem. We are created for a relational purpose. This is why He gave us the ability to reject Him. It's also why He does not force Himself upon us, He wants us to seek after Him of our own volition. And it's why He died for our sins, to repair the separation between us (between God and humans).
But he imposed death penalty for anyone who rejected him
@@bamboo1763 1) No, it's because of sin.
2) Goodness requires justice. 3) Rejecting Jesus does not condemn us; we are already condemned by our own sins. Rejecting Jesus is the rejection of God's forgiveness.
@@droe2570
1) sin is merely disobedience to god, and not all disobedience directly cause death meaning death is imposed to enforce his will and not the natural consequence of sin.
2) part is goodness is justice, but sacrificial death is neither justice nor good (because It makes salvation conditional on obedience to god)
3) god forgiving people is entirely his decision and is not affected by any other factors unless it's used as a condition for a slave contract.

I’ll say I’m with IP in the sense I’m still trying to work out which version of hell is true I’ve seen the case made for each one in convincing ways, and for every verse about eternal suffering or fire there’s one about the restoration of all things and paying the last penny, verses about Christ saving the world especially those who believe. the problem i have with annihilationism is that it seems to go against the saying "God loves the sinner but hates the sin", If God does really love the sinner, then he would annihilation the sin, not the sinner, this is like God burning down the whole house because of some mold infestation, rather than getting rid of the mold itself.
Notice the saying you mentioned isn’t found in the Bible.

There must be a specific purpose, especially since humans were created on Earth and given dominion to lead and care for the animals."

Say those words to the people who supposedly died in the imaginary flood that allegedly happened 4,400 years ago.

1:17:31
(As Ecclessiastes 10:8 puts it, "He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him.")
Having said all that, the late scholar Dr.
What would their take on those occasions be?

at 28 min I think Mullins is severely mistaken on the nature of emotions and particularly with regards to love.

(John 12, verse 3)
To carry the Ankh (now the female symbol ♀️) was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding.
A whole temple was dedicated to Hathor (ancient Egyptian diety), who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. th-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/w-d-xo.html
"See all women as mothers, serve them as your mother. when you see the entire world as the mother, the ego falls away. See everything as Mother and you will know God." - Neem Karoli Baba
"My son, keep thy father's commandment and forsake not the law of thy mother" - Proverbs 6 : 20
No doubt all that fantasy gives you comfort, but it also opens you up to hucksters and unnecessary worries. God doesn’t exist, just enjoy your life.
God isn't real, if he was
-the Bible would have the holy power to convert everyone. The truth would be forever true. Exposing everything else as false.
-God would fight satan and demons so evil wouldn't spread.
-there would be one religion of Christianity and one perfect church
-we would see miracles or signs that God is real.
-God would reveal him self so everyone knows he's real, and would save everyone. Only then after seeing God, the truth, his goodness, and knowing their actions are evil that people still reject God, that's when you send them to hell.
Based on what? How do you know God would do these things if he is real?
All this takes away our free will.
@joshuaparsons887 logic.
--------------
Only a few people saw Jesus, or the miracles, or will ever hear about God, or own a Bible and understand it.
People don't believe
Or believe in their own truths
Because God doesn't clarify everything.
He doesn't, because he's not real.
@@JordanBrown-r9f no it wouldn't.
You still would have the free will to choice if you wanted to believe and serve God, or not.
What I shared only makes it better for those who want to serve him by having Angels actually protect you from evil people, everyone gets a Bible and can understand it, you get to see God just as people saw Jesus, and you get to see miracles just as the people who saw Jesus perform miracles.
That's yours to sort out.
The title told me all that I need to know to keep me from wasting an hour and a half swilling bullshirt!
Why GOD Created Us
~~~ As creation is impossible, and this guy is clueless, a better phrasing of the question without the BS is "Why are we here? What is our purpose?"
That clear question can be answered without vacationing in la-la land!
But, kudos for taking financial advantage of people's ignorance and inability to actually think for themselves. ;)
I am joined by the intelligent philosopher
~~~ Hahahahaha!
That you had to say that he is 'intelligent' is a big 'tell' that he isn't!
IF this guy were a real philosopher, capable of critical thought, IF this "intelligent" guy knows the least science, he would know that "creation" is impossible.
Honestly, it was a mistake. You know, it was end of the working week and after all that plants and animals etc. there was some sht around. The God did not really knew what to do with that dirt so he pissed on it to make a mud. He played with it a bit but became boring (and tomorrow was a not working day) so he quickly made a two parts, throw some spell on that and, there is a humanoids! The worst being on the planet earth because, well, it is made of pi.. and sh.. . End of story, good night.
