- 47.8 pounds of... I don't know what! Help me out rock peeps, what kind of rock is this?
If you are reading this description, please suggest a name for this stripey chunk of stone in the comments. Keep it PG please- though we do enjoy a good double entendre ; )
MCH, glad that you are back in business, not that I understand these rocks, but your back and that is great.👍👍
Excelente video y trabajo amigo, saludos cordiales desde chile para usted compañero 🙋♂️🇨🇱🗝️👏👍💍⛏️🤝
Gracias por sus amables palabras desde el norte de Michigan, EE. UU.
Woooooow,,, Nice sharing video 👍👍👍
Oooo very interesting. I like the bottom texture.
It looks like either a banded chert or a stromatolite! Which would be super cool if it's a stromatolite. The one way to tell is to cut it. Just cut it a little cut on one of the short sides to see what the inside looks like. If it is in uniform bands then it is banded chert, and if it is in a wavy lined pattern, then it is a stromatolite. Also a stromatolite tends to be grey inside the rock. You would never guess it from the outside. Banded chert will have that same color all the way through. Good luck with your iceberg! Thanks for sharing your treasure MrCH!
Hi there Largent45, thank you for the info. I looked up pics of Stromatolites and I find either things sticking out of the water that look like mooring bollards, or they show cut slabs, I did not find any pics in Massive form. Also, I was going to mention that the top looks a bit granite-ish, kind of speckely, but I think that showed up ok on camera. And I think this might be a bit big for my wittle saw, LOL.
@@MrChubbyHubby. That would be a bit big for most saws! But if you belong to a rock club, or know of one in your area, they may be able to help you cut it and identify it as well!
That's a nice one
That is an iceberg!
That’s cool neat find my friend. No knowledge in rocks but really cool
Best wishes
Howdy there SherieWard and thank you. I will keep you folks posted when and if I find out for sure.
@@MrChubbyHubby. awesome I’m curious to find out
Woohoo!!!! You found my Pocket Stone!!!
video rất hay thật tuyệt vời cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ like
Looks like sedimentary rock that was sheared at some point
ITS COOL! if you find out, you must pass it on? The water did help. What about weight? Does it feel like the weight matches the size? Not as a clue for me as I'm clueless but as a fun fact to know & tell...
That is a biggin' for sure ! The bottom is just what it looks like (the bottom of the seabed) that was here millions of years ago. The color says some kind of fossil maybe ? Sponge or stromatolite ? Looks sedimentary also. Hope someone can answer this one for you. Sure is nice looking :)
Hi there Up North Adventures, cool beans! I own a hunk of ancient seabed, neat! I will let you know if we get a for sure answer. Thank you for stopping by.
My best guess, I think it's a rock.
That's pretty neat either way can't wait to see what it is
Giant! You don’t mess around 😊
Hmmm I have seen rocks sort of like that but not of the same material , Im not sure what it is , but I kind of want to polish it LOL
Nice
It may be the Rock Johnson
Idk how I got here. But I like your name 😎
Oh wow. Yeah that does look cool wet. Not a clue what it is though.
A sediment stone of some sort. The bottom must have been against something in the bedrock when it formed.
Howdy there Sandman Coins and Collectibles and thank you. I will let you know when I find out for sure, if I do, LOL.
No idea but it it unique and beautiful
🤔 I can’t wait to see what type of rock it is 🥰👍 thanks for sharing 🥰
It could be a kidney stone from a dinosaur
wow very cool
@Nic's Coins FREAKING WICKED AWESOME
Forty seven point eight pounds of stalagmites 🤗 just a hypothisis 🤗
thank you for sharing, success is always for all of us
look like a sandstone or mudstone looks like a glacier may have worn it or ? do a hardness test can you scratch it is it brittle does it flake like flint or chert. etc.
It formed million years ago.
Its a rock!
Hello and can’t wait to here what kinda big old rock there you have, awesome find. I will also be looking to see what you are gonna do with this and ending results.
Hi there GummieDoLittle and thank you. I will keep everyone posted as to what I find.
Please make sure to let us know what it is
That's a big boy! Either banded chert or stromatolite! Chert sometimes becomes translucent! Sweet piece, that bottom is unique! Is there a text pattern to the lines at a micro level?
Hey there City Rockhounding and thank you. So far all the pics of Stroms look either like a Mooring Bollard or they are sliced and polished, I need to find pics of Massive pieces to compare. And first I see Fayde mention translucent chert, now you to! And on top of that I just got the Audubon Society rocks and minerals book and they have jasper listed under chalcedony!!! I feel like my whole rock life has been a lie! LOL. Are these pieces that did not get as much algae or iron staining? So, kind of like a dark quartz looking stuff? Maybe we should call this material Chercedony?
@MrChubbyHubby. oh yeah, I hear you there, everyday I'm confused on something. I like that chercedony!
Nice Odd Share 😮
