This parallel was probably on purpose. But, the CGs do what the diamonds didn't, listen to the other person and apologize for the way they made him feel.

They probably try to spoil her every now and then by giving a person that acts like a toy, a garden of her own, and eventually her own colony, but they are often too busy with their appointments and colonies to spent much quality time with her.
That does make sense. Especially with how much Pinkness has been coming out, he may be getting small leaks of her emotions tied to certain topics. Like when he get's angry, some of Pink's anger shows through. I imagine when he feels he's being patronized and talked down too, something his mother could never really escape until coming to earth, Steven feels extra sensitive about it. Plus, you know, teen angst. Steven was clearly a late bloomer, likely due to being part gem. For a long time he was just a really mature kid, but still a kid. Now, he's been hit with full blown teenness and all it's angst. I do have to wonder if his gem being removed, even for likely no more then half an hour, somehow sped up his physical growth. I mean, from 8 to 14 he remained looking like a 8 year old. 6 years of no real growth. Then all of a sudden in two years he basically doubled in age. It seems a bit coincidental that it just happened to happen after, for just a few minutes, he was solely human. I think Steven's waking-up time is supposed to be related to symbolic numbers. 7:13 - with 7 being a known lucky number, and 13 being a known unlucky number No sure what the metaphorical meaning here is, though
It means that it's unbalanced, like how 7 is a known lucky number, but 13 is unlucky so it's not balanced, symbolizing Steven's unbalance between his work/life. :)
question : remember “together breakfast” episode when steven went into the temple ? isn’t there some really dangerous gem holding together the temple or something ?
When Steven shapeshifts into his younger form, he doesn't FEEL like he's that age. He still feels like his adult age, and even makes a point out of that. It's logical for him to keep his regular voice.
The Steven Tag could go like; someone is 14 year old Steven, and as soon as the game progresses, and mostly likely everyone is Steven, someone becomes 16 year old Steven, and the game continues then, and then when everyone is tagged game over. There can be more rules, like adult Steven hah
*[Ok, time for my gigantic review of the episodes]* Okay, the first part of Snow Day intrigued me a little, because it showed how much Steven matured, how much he changed, and it made me a little sad. Like, he doesn't care much about the cheeseburger backpack, doesn't want to have breakfast with the gems, and he didn't even laugh at the amethyst's joke. Then, throughout the episode, I began to see interesting things. In addition to having the return of pike-Steven, we saw that the Pearl can change shape. And like, that was amazing. But then, the game started to be when the Crystal gems had to appeal to the merger, which, by the way, is a concept that evolved in this episode, because, in addition to merging in the game, they retained the shape of 14-year-old Steven. Towards the end, I found the moment quite cute and reflective, because we realized that gems miss how Steven was in the past, how he was before. So in the end, he just understood that they miss old Steven]*
Yeah they definitely have some Gems who aren't corrupted in there They weren't going to release Peridot until Steven did And they kept Squaridot in there until Peridot released her
1. Whatever "benefits" they may have, I'm never sacrificing my meals for protein shakes. Plus, who knows if all that along with Steven's emotional stress will do more harm than good to him. 2. Something tells me the Gems will still hang on to the backpack...just in case Steven tries to rekindle his youthful optimism. 3. While I CAN accept the fact that Steven is older now, being 16 does not classify someone as an adult...at least, not legally. As for the "adult cynicism we're all doomed to inherit..." I just turned 34 two days ago and I STILL hold on to my inner child. Much like with Steven; my own family often looks to MY optimistic nature, whenever life gets hard for them. If you choose to forsake optimism and playfulness for the hollow life of "adulthood." Then...you're doomed to be miserable for the rest of your days. 4. After hearing those examples of past episode moment, I can understand why Steven's a vegetarian now. But after the mention of Guidance, this choice of his doesn't feel all that authentic. My elder sister has been a vegan since I was a teenager and though she (probably) chose to do so for the same reasons Steven did, it hasn't helped her healthwise. She's often sluggish and gets sick rather easily on occasion, as a result to such a lifestyle choice. While Steven isn't fully human, I still feel that being vegan could hurt his human side; in some way. I WILL say this, though...Morningstar foods and Bocca Burgers are a rather good substitute for meat (in terms of taste.) 5. While it IS true that most stuff for little ones isn't all that entertaining (looking at you, Dora.) That still doesn't mean that ALL "kid stuff" can't appeal to adults. Look at me, I still watch classic cartoons and Disney/Animated films while also indulging in current animation. 6. Skin care IS important...but loads of people have careers that involve putting on masks that might be "harmful" to the skin. Such examples include party clowns, jesters at Renaissance Faires, actors and of course, musicians (KISS being a high example of that.) 7. Now that Pearl no longer feels nervous towards Shapeshifting. I wonder if she'll ever give eating a try, considering how she kept away from both due to memories of Pink Diamond/Rose? Also...I want to see the whole "THE POWER OF STEVEN TAG COMPELS ME" thing on a shirt now. 8. No matter what age you are, there's no such thing as "being too old" to play "childish games." Any grandparent, TH-cam Let's Player, D&D Dungeon Master, LARPing session manager, magician, actor and party clown can tell you that. 9. It's not that I don't see Steven as a teen. It's that he seems to have gotten rid of the parts of his personality that Gems were drawn to in the first place; his optimism, hopefulness, his friendly nature, his playful side. It was these parts of him that inspired the likes of Peridot, Lapis and Bismuth to join his ranks. If he disposes these parts of himself, what chance does he have of helping other Gems? These are just my two cents on every point the episode touched upon and you're welcome to disagree, if you like. But I hope you'll be able to see where I'm coming from. My philosophy is and always shall be "you're only as old as you feel." Even when I'M in my 50's, I'll still be playful ol' Big Al. I look to him, whenever adult life on the farm gets too much. I hope Steven will come to realize that...before it's too late
That's still technically a teen, not yet an adult. But here he is, acting like he's his dad's age. The only difference is even at this point in his life, Greg's still a fun guy. Steven...his extremely cynical nature, for me, feels rather unlikable
@@trevorphilips9065 But as we've seen in the previous episodes, his stress and forcing himself to make things perfect are doing more harm than good to him. Personality-wise, Classic Steven never pushed himself THIS hard to try and bring others to join him. He acted like his mother hoped he would, like a human being
This moral kinda makes me think of my grandma. All my cousins, brother and I are grown up and don't like the same things we did as kids. Grandma has had a few rants over the years that she wasn't ready for us to grow up so quickly.
Something I immediately notices but haven’t seen people talk about is when Pearl gets tagged, her reaction pose is similar to Gohan’s transformation into Super Saiyan 2.
For when Garnet (Steven) gets out of the Basement, I think that it’s a callback to Catch and Release when Steven asks Rose’s Room if he could go down to the basement. The real basement.
It's important to keep some portion of your inner child with you, though. If you don't, things will become so miserable that your life will turn out horribly
we should appreciate this more than we think we should , it's not common to see a darker/depressed side of a lighter/happier show like steven universe used to be in the first seasons
watching steven go through this depressing adult aspect is seriously a big mood. when he sat down with a day planner and sticky notes *I F E L T T H A T*
At 3:34 he said that Steven didn't want to be treating like a child.....like *Pink Diamond* she wanted to be treated like a diamondond with her own colony, she didn't want to be treat like a child.....like steven
I think that his voice doesnt change because this was more of a proper gem shapeshift. I think his voice changed in the birthday episode because he was trying to make himself sound older on purpose. He sounded older in the many birthdays episode because it was more like his physical age being altered via shapeshifting than just an appearance alteration. Wheras now it seems he has much more control over his shapeshifting power and can do stuff like altering how he looks without changing his voice etc.
Something that’s actually interesting is Steven actually IS almost an adult (in the legal sense, at least) being 17. He’s not even 16 anymore, it makes sense that he’s a bit more abrasive and tires easily, no longer wanting to be treated like a child
I think the scene where they were all rolling down the snowy hill could've been a reference to the snowy hill scene in Wolf Children because the movements were similar
8:35 yes but Steven did not know how to control he's new powers and since they are new some of his human form comes along with it and in Steven's B-day he wanted to feel more human so he made his voice deeper on his own will . GET LAWYERED lol
I really hope we get one more voiced Sugilite appearance before the show ends. One of the most underappreciated Fusions in the fandom, and in the show.
Because i watched Groundhog day recently , i deciced to look up what is in the bible at 7:13 and what i found was : Matthew 7:13 is the thirteenth verse of the seventh chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament and is part of the Sermon on the Mount. This verse begins the concluding summary of the Sermon, a series of warnings about not following the teachings laid out” I think it relates to that , especially the “concluding summary of the Sermon” part , as the show is a summary of unanswered questions
No I dont like that steven is acting like a normal teen >:c I miss the 14 year old steven NOT THE CHESSE BURGER BACK BACK it's also weird that he used to chase after the crystal gems for attention now the crystal gems are now chasing after him that is sad, I prefer the older seasons. It means that it's unbalanced, like how 7 is a known lucky number, but 13 is unlucky so it's not balanced, symbolizing Steven's unbalance between his work/life. :)
Or that's what some people wake up at
@@thelolfaceguy Yeah it could be that too!

This was depressingly realistic It shows that not even cartoon characters like Steven can avoid growing up it is...inevitable.
Ash Ketchum...
Onion
Ash Ketchum is the exception
I don’t think it’s depressing at all, growing is good. It can be hard but it’s a good thing. Change isn’t bad.
Yeah I guess cartoons and other animated shows have now evolved to now show their characters grow alongside their audiences
Apparently Steven is 17 now according to the fandom wiki
Uh yeah we made a mistake on the wiki...
Sleepy Ezra THATS NOT MY BABY (pearls voice)
Sleepy Ezra 16 actually
He's 17
he is an old child 😳
question : remember “together breakfast” episode when steven went into the temple ? isn’t there some really dangerous gem holding together the temple or something ?
Why is everybody tripping? This kid has been through a lot.
He’s acting like an adult even at 16
When Steven shapeshifts into his younger form, he doesn't FEEL like he's that age. He still feels like his adult age, and even makes a point out of that. It's logical for him to keep his regular voice.
He also didn’t wake up from a cookie cat alarm clock
I think it's because alarm clocks aren't as loud as phone chimes
The other lapis lazulis are basicly "hi school musical movie villans"...

They prod did off screen
It’s good when a kids show grows with their audience
The Steven Tag could go like; someone is 14 year old Steven, and as soon as the game progresses, and mostly likely everyone is Steven, someone becomes 16 year old Steven, and the game continues then, and then when everyone is tagged game over. There can be more rules, like adult Steven hah
jokes on you, steven is 17
Scarlet 16, 17 still looks the same
*_[It was AWESOME! Steven Ruby is the most superior ruby!! WE RUBIES FROM THE RUBY SQUAD MUST TEACH BASEBALL!!!]_*

*[Ok, time for my gigantic review of the episodes]*
Okay, the first part of Snow Day intrigued me a little, because it showed how much Steven matured, how much he changed, and it made me a little sad.
:-O
I feel like they uncorrupted the crystal gems first, and then they decided to fix the home world gems slowly
I love ur pfp .
Yeah they definitely have some Gems who aren't corrupted in there
They weren't going to release Peridot until Steven did
And they kept Squaridot in there until Peridot released her
I WILL say this, though...Morningstar foods and Bocca Burgers are a rather good substitute for meat (in terms of taste.)
Such examples include party clowns, jesters at Renaissance Faires, actors and of course, musicians (KISS being a high example of that.)
My philosophy is and always shall be "you're only as old as you feel."
Even when I'M in my 50's, I'll still be playful ol' Big Al. I look to him, whenever adult life on the farm gets too much. I hope Steven will come to realize that...before it's too late
When you have a lot of trauma, you grow up fast. Now he’s just mature, and depressed. I’m sure when he heals he will kinda be like his old self.
kinda
Apparently Steven has turned 17 by this episode.
That's still technically a teen, not yet an adult. But here he is, acting like he's his dad's age.
The only difference is even at this point in his life, Greg's still a fun guy. Steven...his extremely cynical nature, for me, feels rather unlikable
sadlobster1 and the part where he played the game and made peace with the gems just alluded you, or?
@@puddang2379 That was only a small fraction; as long as he snubs the backpack and chooses shakes over real food, that isn't really Steven
@@sadlobster1 Steven is grown not every person wants to be a child forever besides he's a diamond who's helping gems
@@trevorphilips9065 But as we've seen in the previous episodes, his stress and forcing himself to make things perfect are doing more harm than good to him.
Personality-wise, Classic Steven never pushed himself THIS hard to try and bring others to join him. He acted like his mother hoped he would, like a human being
I really liked Sardondx Steven and Sugilite Steven
oh yea and MERRY CHRISTMAS ROUNDTABLE.
I liked Sardonyx Steven
Steven :rejects the cheese burger backpack

Forget fusions, Ruby, Sapphire, and especially Pearl Steven sold it for me. I screamed when Pearl changed. So happy.

When Pearl Gave Steven His Winter Clothes It Reminded Me Of My Mom. She Always Gives Me So Much Clothes And Scarfs. It's Too Much Scarfs, Man!

Even if steven is older i still think he's adorable
You know it’s gonna be a good video when he starts with *WELCOME TO CRYSTAL CLEAR* he’s so hyped and I love it
For when Garnet (Steven) gets out of the Basement, I think that it’s a callback to Catch and Release when Steven asks Rose’s Room if he could go down to the basement. The real basement.
I miss young Steven so much but, we can't stay young for long right? I like where his character development is going.
It's important to keep some portion of your inner child with you, though. If you don't, things will become so miserable that your life will turn out horribly

The fact that Steven HAS A SKINCARE ROUTINE
we should appreciate this more than we think we should , it's not common to see a darker/depressed side of a lighter/happier show like steven universe used to be in the first seasons
EXACTLY!!!
Everyone expects every cartoon in existence to be slapstick silly like TTG. Not every cartoon has to rely on sheer stupidity to gain a fanbase...
@@thegiftedchild5574 TTG, in general, is stupid. I honestly liked OK KO better. Still mad that they canceled it.
Long story short the whole episode was about fusions and family
The End
Okay time to sing the credits
He sneaking off to see Connie who he dates now but don’t want the gems to know @theroundtable
watching steven go through this depressing adult aspect is seriously a big mood. when he sat down with a day planner and sticky notes *I F E L T T H A T*
The backpack is the thing that also broke my heart.
At 3:34 he said that Steven didn't want to be treating like a child.....like *Pink Diamond* she wanted to be treated like a diamondond with her own colony, she didn't want to be treat like a child.....like steven
Diamondond lmfao
I wonder what Smoky Steven, Sunstone Steven, and Rainbow Quartz 2.0 Steven looks like
I mean "cry for help" was aired July 13... 7/13
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!
Well I mean he's 17 in this episode so he's basically a college student
he's still 16 dumbass
at 8:50 it looks like Steven has 3 or 5 kids begging him to go to the playground
8:35 yes but Steven did not know how to control he's new powers and since they are new some of his human form comes along with it and in Steven's B-day he wanted to feel more human so he made his voice deeper on his own will . GET LAWYERED lol
I think it’s still weird to see some of the Courrupted gems in the Burning room “aka The bubble room, aka Garnet’s room”
the basement
I really hope we get one more voiced Sugilite appearance before the show ends. One of the most underappreciated Fusions in the fandom, and in the show.
Because i watched Groundhog day recently , i deciced to look up what is in the bible at 7:13 and what i found was :
Matthew 7:13 is the thirteenth verse of the seventh chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament and is part of the Sermon on the Mount. This verse begins the concluding summary of the Sermon, a series of warnings about not following the teachings laid out”
I think it relates to that , especially the “concluding summary of the Sermon” part , as the show is a summary of unanswered questions
5:30
Since granet bubbled peridot and steven tried to bubble spinel, those might be the evil gems and not the corrupted ones.
Steven's voice probably didnt alter because it changes based on how he feels, he didnt _feel_ like a kid, he just looked like one
Also the snow day episode was adorable when they all hugged steven and apologized
