The Legion of Boom is Seattle’s secondary that was led by Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor. Other notable members were Brandon Browner, Deshawn Shead, and Byron Maxwell.
Facts but eventually the LOB was so notorious that it just came to include the entire defense. Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Cliff Avril, Chris Clemons, Michael Bennett, Red Bryant, Brandon Mebane, Bruce Irvin... crazy how stacked that D was

You can't leave Brandon Browner out. He was one of the original 4 that earned the nickname. He certainly brought the BOOM he was the most physical corner in the league.

I live just south of Seattle and when I was in grade school I heard we got a Football team called the Seahawks. After many dismal seasons and a few good ones they got this bunch of guys and things have been good. but these guys were the best. I hope you are staying safe over in Japan.
the saddest part bout the LOB is how they it all was broken up, dumbass coach choked the superbowl with probably the worst playcall at the one yard line after the LOB did everything they could to put the team in a position to win. Gave brady his 4th ring and it was all downhill from then on

Randy Moss please! He is the most talented receiver, ever and my idol. Extremely fast and would just snatch the ball out of the air. He's so electrifying to watch and so exciting to see. You have to watch his ultimate career highlights.

The Legion of Boom was a group of very elite individual players who, due to a quirk of fate, came together when each one was playing at the height of their respective careers on the same team. With this level of talent, you actually don't see this happen very often at all. But when it does happen, legends are born and individual seasons and short time periods are remembered forever. Like the late 90's Chicago Bulls for example. And the Legion of Boom.

The Legion Of Boom (LOB) was the great 2013-15 Seattle Seahawks defense. They were originally only the LOB because of their defensive backs but after a year, it became their whole defense! On the defensive line, they had Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, Chris Clemons, Red Bryant, and Brandon Mebane. Their linebackers were Bobby Wagner, Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith, and KJ Wright. The best part of their defense though, was their secondary, which consisted of Richard Sherman, the best corner in the league at the time, Earl Thomas, the best safety in the league at the time, and Kam Chancellor, a top 5 safety at the time. This defense won a Super Bowl in the 2013-2014 season along with their also high-powered offense which contained the dangerous Russell Wilson at quarterback, Beastmode himself at running back, Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Jermaine Kearse, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, and Ricardo Lockette at wide receiver. They also had Luke Wilson at tight end, along with a very solid offensive line. I wish you would’ve seen them play live. Honestly it was a real privilege!
As a Seahawks fan, the Legion of Boom is one memory I'll always have. That defense was elite.

Great defenses often have nicknames; the Steel Curtain, Orange Crush, the Killer B's, the New York Sack Exchange, the Fearsome Foursome, the Purple People Eaters, just to name a few.
The LOB had the best players at each position, who were well-coached, and perhaps most importantly, they worked together. Virtually every interception highlight has 2-3 Hawks working together to strip/tip and catch the ball. I've never seen a defense communicate and adjust before each play as much as the LOB. They were a unit.
Earl Thomas went to highschool 15 minutes away from my hometown in the same city my grandma is from
As I lifelong Raiders fan I am very objective. I live in Seattle and watched the rise and reign of the LOB in realtime. That defense was the best to ever do it. Some will say bears 85' was better but they didn't play the best offense in NFL history in the Superbowl. The Seahawks did and held them scoreless until the first play of the 4th quarter. Final score 43-8. The backstory on Sherman ranting so hard on Crabtree the 49ers wide receiver is this, they both played in an off-season charity softball game hosted by Larry Fitzgerald from the Arizona Cardinals. Crabtree ran his mouth at Richard Sherman there and really pissed sherm off. They met in the NFC championship and on the last play Richard deflected the pass to Crabtree in the end zone and batted it to his team mate to seal the win. Then exploded on live TV directly after the game to Erin Andrews about it. Most epic trash talk after a game ever. Crabtree had it coming. Look it up its epic. I told my wife as it happened that it was the biggest verbal blowup after a game I had ever seen.

The Super Bowl win was the number 1 offensive team in Denver vs the number 1 defense in Seattle and by the score it was no competition.
One of the best defensive squads ever. Also check out the iron curtain in the Pittsburgh Steelers and for much older cats the Purple people eaters from the Minissota Vikings for Defense. No one scores.
Out of all the Super Bowls of all time that one against the Denver Broncos was the biggest beat downs I’ve ever seen!

The LOB at the time was no joke. Not just the secondary, but Seattle's defense as a whole went head hunting to become one of the greatest defenses in football

yea 85 bears number 1, 2001 ravens number 2 and 2014 seahawks number 3 and thats coming from a seahawks fan. i saw a breakdown in the stats and is scary how close they all are but as a football fan i think thats the right order.

A really talented, smart, and hard working defense like that is crazy fun to watch on gameday. In those days I found myself saying some really strange things to my TV set like, "thank God our offense punted the ball away... now maybe we can score some points!" I'm way older than you, and have seen all these things- but you make me relive the excitement!
Been a Seahawks fan down here in Washington since around 2001 and I saw the “Legion of Boom” from its very beginning... it was just special to see Sherm, ETIII and Bam Bam Kam transform the Hawks defense into one of the greatest of all time. I really think if they beat New England in Super Bowl 49 things would be very different for Seattle...
But they helped contribute to a Super Bowl 48 win (which was flat out awesome) and a miracle SB49 appearance which we somewhat shouldn’t have been there (watch the 2014 NFC Championship between the Green Bay Packers vs. the Seattle Seahawks and you’ll know what I mean). Love the video Courtney and to all the people in the comment section: Stay Safe and Stay Healthy 😃

Hey, here is probably a suggestion you have not had before, react to Pat Venditte, he is a switch pitcher. He to my knowledge is the only switch pitcher in history, who has pitched in the majors. There are plenty of switch hitters who can hit from both sides, buy Venditte can pitch with BOTH arms. There was a funny incident few years back when he faced a switch hitter in the minors and they kept switching back and forth. Which forced MLB to incorporate a rule stating a player has to designate what hand he pitches with or side of the plate he hits from before each at bat.

The LOB is great, but you should watch a video of just Kam Chancellor’s highlights. The man is one of the most physical to have ever played the game. The man is an absolute unit.

Richard Sherman really is one of the most interesting, thoughtful characters in the NFL. He played at Stanford and, as an UCLA alum who is a Pac 12 fan, I knew this guy was going to be great in the NFL.

It's hard to explain just how big these guys were for Seattle sports. My favorite television experiences were these guys with Marshawn, Russel, Baldwin and the others. It was an incredible team to watch and even though the team is now diminished in comparison I still pay to watch every one of their games now because of how fun the legion of boom and those Seahawks teams were to watch.

Here is a TEAM U should check out. They have been called the Best College Football team of all time. The 95 Nebraska Huskers. They Dominated that season for a Back To Back National Championship team. The Cornhuskers scored 638 points (53.2 per game) while only allowing 174 (14.5 per game). Their average margin of victory was 38.6 points, and their lowest margin of victory, against Washington State, was 14 points.

Greatest defense of all time. Of all time. That super bowl against Denver... it didn’t matter who showed up to play Seattle. They were dominating that game, whoever they played. If you actually watch the full game, Seattle won the game on the first 3 or 4 defensive snaps.
The original was "THE DOOMSDAY DEFENSE" . It was America's team, the Dallas Cowboys and other teams feared them. They were amazing and people loved and worshipped them.At minute mark 01:35 LOOK AT THE STADIUM , its moving , bouncing the fans were bringing the house down. That was football at its finest.

That one play at 9:10 was apparently supposed to be a flag because you can’t bat the ball out into the end zone. Lions are always being robbed from wins but this season they robbed the Chargers in week 2

L.O.B. Best Defense and talent all around this includes the front four-Defense Tackles. Not to mention best head coach (Pete Carroll) fans ( which is #12) A.KA. The 12th man. They enjoyed playing for their fans at home & on the road.

I live in Seattle and have always been a Dolphins fan, but I like the Seahawks too. They are fun to watch. I dont know how many times Seattle has been down going into the 4th quarter with very little time left of game, where usually it would be near impossible of coming back to win, but Seattle always finds a way to. Being a Dolphins fan you should react to Dan Marino.

Another great reaction. I recommend reacting to highlights of No Fly Zone, the Denver Broncos' defense, from the 2015 season. Like the Legion of Boom, they were also an elite secondary. They were key to them winning the Super Bowl that season.

They were a collection of the very best Defensive players at their individual positions in the entire League... and they were, for a while, all on the same team, it was unfair LOL

A comment was made in the video about the Seahawk defense being the best ever that year. He must not have watched or heard of the 1985 Chicago Bears. They lost only 1 game the whole season on the way to winning the Super Bowl.

I hated Richard Sherman for the longest time because of the Seahawk/49ers rivalry. I wanted so badly for us to beat them but they were simply better.

There are a lot of great secondary players, but to have guys of that caliber playing at that level together for that long is rare. You'll never see another secondary like that.

@@CourtneyCoulston Thereabouts, yes. Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor were drafted in 2010, and Richard Sherman was drafted in 2011. They really began to gel and become the Legion in 2012 and they were absolute soul crushers for years.

When I played football I was a De-back or Free-safey speed kills. But this guys fly my best 40yard is 4.3-4.4 these guys run at 4.2.
