Stop exporting your communities' wealth at the big grocery supermarkets, where your money goes all the way to those at the top. All who live in their own exclusive communities far away from ours. Instead by buying local you invest into your local area, your neighbors have more wealth and can expand their local business. More wealth in your local area means better everything.
Most communities have basically no local economies, not in any real sense, sure money moves around but its mostly moving out instead of coming in.
And yes I get the whole, money is a "note" stuff etc. But in the end it has always just been a tool not wealth in itself. It is when your community cycles it around internally that it can turn into wealth for you and your neighbors.

I served in the army during the cold war, and I patrolled the iron curtain for 3 years. I got to see what totalitarian government really looked like. I wont tell any tales, but I can advise the young people in this country to listen to what Tony is saying. Freedom is a hard won thing, and the attacks on it are relentless. So appreciate the freedoms that you have and cherish them, because they didnt come cheap.
In Russia you can still buy 70's tech cars. They make a modren version of the UAZ, and still make the old ones. Same platform too.

Not only is it cool low-technology that works perfectly fine, it is technology that isn’t easily controlled - it can’t be hacked. The ONLY problem is that points and condensers are a consumable - somebody has to make them. So, they aren’t entirely beyond the reach of meddling and incompetence by the state. Almost makes me wish I was Amish.

58 years old. I still have a 1980 Plymouth Volare with a 360. I keep her running and im happy with it. I use a flip phone and spend cash only. Cash my paycheck at the bank. I save what I can in my piggy bank. No credit cards. I shop at Dollar Tree. I buy fruits from street vendors. I cook my meals... I fix my house myself

Remember "the house phone" and phone booths on every corner? Then, it all disappeared, as people slowly become slaves to their pagers and cell phones. Now, everyone has smart devices and most are hooked on social media. It's gotten so bad, people refuse to even think for themselves - regurgitating simple prepackaged narratives and buzz words, or they'll just direct you to "Google it" yourself.
Call me old, but I prefer the inconvenience of the phone being connected to the wall with a cord, to the surveillance and manipulation of our every movement and thought.

I’m nearly 55. I’ve worked as a mechanic my entire life. I tell the young kids…Not everything ‘Old’ is bad or wrong or outdated. And not everything ’New’ is better.
As a kid we would go on these road trips every year and my dad smoked so he'd have the window down smoking cruising 80 miles an hour and that wind would just beat the shit out of the seatbelt buckle against the side of the car and the occasional sparks and ashes in my eyes, lit cigarette butt come flying into my lap or down my shirt....I hated all of that. 😅😅
But this was the time when fathers were actually brutal men and you didn't complain about shit you just endure it until you get your own car.

Remember when going to a restroom and you can choose the temperature and pressure of your water? Now you can't choose either. Speaking of rolling down car windows, how do you tell another driver to roll down their window? In the old days, you'd gesture rolling down the window but nowadays that looks like pushing a button. Even the internet is aging, something that is relatively new; I can't hardly type anymore without search bars auto-guessing what I'm trying to say.

Thank you Brother... all so true... part of why I quit professional wrenching back in the mid-1970s. We saw all this coming and the wedge was the enforcement of mandatory emission controls beyond Positive Crankcase Ventilation, etc. Granted that mileage is much better and that pollution in LA, etc is much diminished... but the writing was on the wall... And NOW? The whole module concept and outside control of the 'vehicle' (itself a legal term ceding ownership to the state) oh brother! What you are saying here is so important. We need - desperately to bring back the TRADES and to teach the fundamentals to our children. ALL the fundamentals. From which way is North, to what 'Plumb' is, to what LIBERTY is. Thanks again! How much embodied energy goes into manufacturing a new car? Account for it all the way down to clearing the mountain to mine for minerals or shipping materials around the globe. As How much fuel gets burned in my line of work in order for me to make the money to pay for a new car. to a few more miles per gallon and pay higher insurance. Keeping my 20 plus year old car as long as possible.
I want to add what the girls learned in high school as a counterpart to the boys learning mechanical things, woodworking, etc etc. Girls took a course every semester called "HomeMaking". We learned how to cook on stovetop & oven for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. We learned how to read & invent recipes. Also, we learned how to sew our own clothes & for family members, my mom showed the girls how to do knitting, embroidery, crocheting, etc. (grandmas did too). Also, learned Holiday meal prep & prepared Thanksgiving, Xmas, Easter special meals, setting the table, how to use the knives, etc in the kitchen, also, How to Budget for groceries, household supplies, etc. We had to make meals at home for our families too. We learning food preservation...Canning & Fermenting & Dehydration. Also, safety in the kitchen & the home (putting out fires, etc), Childcare & Baby Basic Care, How to clean the home, including products to use & products to make at home for cleaning. This is what I remember off the top of my head. I absolutely Loved Home Making & still do.

Older cars were designed for the owner to maintain them. Modern vehicles are designed to be disposable appliances. They're not made to be fixed by anyone. It's horrible. I will never buy a car that I can't rebuild myself.
I was studying Industrial Design in 1976. I remember when the Chrysler guys came to talk to us. They let us know back then that the age of the home mechanic was ending. It took a little longer than they led us to believe.
actually, modern cars will last longer than the 99,999 miles on the odometer of an old car. what makes them disposable is the cost to replace all the sensors and computer stuff--insurance companies will total your car faster, even though the mechanicals will work fine due to thinner piston rings, better oils, and overdrive transmissions helping you do 80 mph at 2,200 rpm until the gas tank empties

As recently as year 2002 I was able to take a year -long course in welding and metal Fabrication taught by Vic Pierce in a California Public High School Vocational Tech program in Placerville, CA. The Guy had worked the Alaska Pipeline, and in Shipbuilding, and was phenomenal, both in his welding skills and as a Teacher. All the other students were kids living on rural family farms.
I'd just hit the half Century mark, and wanted to be able to do more around the small ranch where I'd just joined a new family.
Back to the east coast a decade later, I found that there are some strong training programs here in Coastal Virginia for high school kids to learn useful skills in the "trades."
Hey! In the late 60s when I was in High School, the counselors were all making College sound like the path to wealth, fame, and Clear SKIN! Those of us aiming for College were mighty toplofty in our smugness.

I'm a 73 year old Chrysler trained engineer, the train of thought among like minded engineers and students of this phenomena believe the only thing that will run will be old time cars with points ,generators ,and a carburetor. Great video! I'm a younger person and I absolutely love hearing wisdom from the older folks. I can't believe how much I don't know. I learned absolutely nothing important in school besides math and the books I read personally on school time. Go easy on the younger generations, we are being set-up for failure and we need help more than we know. Most of us are clueless and we don't know how to ask for help because we don't even know that we need it yet! We grew up in the system and we intuitionally know that everything feels wrong but many of us are so overwhelmed that we don't know where to start or how to help. This is a sick time we live in.

The problem is, when you're younger, you don't have enough years down to see the patterns emerging. When someone older points it out, younger people think they're crazy or backward. That's just the nature of things. You're smart for paying attention and keeping your ears and eyes open. So much info out there... develop your discernment. Don't be blown about with every wind. Keep your head down and learn skills. Do the opposite of the crowd and you'll be okay.
You are so prudent… wake your peers! Form coalitions with any of us old farts who will work a trade with you: you share techie knowledge in exchange for knowledge in mechanics, gardening, preserving foods, sewing, woodworking…
You might get something really big going. Also, if you can get your young friends to help vote the Orange Man and as many conservatives as possible in, we might be able to decrease the excessive regulations and remove stupid laws that are stealing our freedoms and our property. You don’t want regulations and fees to kill the idea before it can even sprout. I’m serious! Wouldn’t it be great if you could get some youth/old fart exchanges of knowledge and wisdom going… a series of youth clubs that have classes where you can learn vanishing wisdom and skills and teach the tech knowledge that older generations struggle with.

You buy new materials and do the work yourself or, you can hire someone to do the work for you and in either case you pay taxes for the purchased materials and/ or for the work some else does for you. After you invest your time and money in these improvements your propriety tax increases because you" raised" the value of your propriety... When I questioned the logic behind this which is basically a theft, some people argued saying "that I knew something, but I did not understand how the system worked"...

A few years back I lost my home in Louisiana when the government raised my property taxes 1,000%, so you are absolutely right. But I beat the system by dropping off the grid, living virtually for free on government owned land in a 25 yr. old motorhome with a huge solar system, allowing me to be electrically independent. As long as I can still afford gas, I'm cool. I pay $80 every 2 years for my registration on both my motorhome and car which is also paid for. But one day they'll say it's too old and won't let me renew them. I have spare everything too - 2 spare ECMs, 2 spare inverters, belts, etc. so I can probably keep them running till then.
But I'm 67 yrs old and I'm not going back to points and carbs unless I have no other choice or say I'm restoring an old motorcycle, generator, lawnmower, etc.. And yes, I was a mechanic and gearhead back in the 70's myself - even had my own MC shop and worked in the industry till the mid 90's. I was also a service manager in a Jeep-Eagle dealership too, which is why I won't own one today. Long-term jeep owners know what I'm talking about.
Thanks for the thoughts though. I smell what you're stepping in, it's just that everything stinks these days when the government gets involved. I guess we could distill our own alcohol for fuel when gas gets to $100 a gallon, but by then there will probably be laws preventing us from even getting behind the wheel. What are you going to do, shoot every cop that sees you? I doubt we'll even have lead bullets by then, as they will be deemed too dangerous for our own good, you know. What can you do? Sometimes I fantasize of going out in a blaze of glory, when the oppression gets too much to bear, but if they're smart, they will just wait for all of us old farts to die off - it won't be long - and just complete their plans then. They will meet with less resistance when no one is around anymore who still remembers what freedom even is. Socialists play the long game. All they really need to do is wait us out.

I was in vocational school in 1984. Trained in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. I had a great automotive electrical teacher Sam Hansen. He said that some day you will no longer step on a throttle and control the engine, you will be stepping on a rheostat and everything will be controlled by a computer.

One slip and those things would rip you to shreds! It's reasonable to expend some effort to mitigate preventable serious bodily harm.
How many children accidently opened the door while on the highway and fell out before it was okay to put in the annoying child safety feature on the rear doors? It's not some conspiracy against your freedom, most likely. Sure, companies will always find a way to make an extra coin if they can get away with it. That's what they do. Intelligent beings find a way to balance varying necessities and understand that not every individual will have an optimum ideal outcome.

The spark in these systems was generated by passing current through the points to the primary of the coil and then cutting off the current by opening the points. The collapsing magnetic field in the coil induced a high voltage in the secondary of the coil that was directed to the appropriate spark plug via a rotor arm inside the distributor. Changing the points and setting their opening gap (and checking the timing of the spark) were all part of the regular servicing of a car.

Up until a few years ago, you needed a $500 scanner to do all repairs on cars. Now it takes a $4,000 scanner. You cannot even get a key to work without a $4,000 scanner. A key used to be $2 and you didn't need the scanner. Next will be the scanners will not work and the dealers will use wifi to access the car's computers.
Same shit is happening to farming. Look up "right to repair".
Can't even service your John Deere yourself. It's eerily similar to owning a Tesla: You're going to have to drive it for 100s of miles to the nearest stealership to get that starter button working again.
Automotive manufacturers already have “OTA” (OVER THE AIR) updates for cars & trucks. They have control of your vehicle currently.

We are all against totalitarianism, restriction of freedom, choices, ability to self sustain our vehicles. The over electrification of cars with hundreds/thousands of modules. Against losing our personal autonomy.
I want cars to lose plastic and the flood of unnecessary electronics. I'm fine with electronic injection and spark. But im sick of every metal part tirning into cheap plastic with low quality replacements, plastic pipes instead of metal and rubber and every inch of the vehicle having multiple modules.

I was born in 97 and I was always into cars as I got older and started wrenching I always saw that my ability to understand the mechanical was growing but the computers where out pacing even my zoomer computer abilities. I switched out a 2015 mustang for a 72 beetle. Now I’m getting rid of most modern tech. I tired of screens and throwing away something cause they don’t make it serviceable anymore. It’s time for me to take back control.

I started as a mechanic in 1977. Lucky enough to see the whole evolution from mechanical to electronic systems. With every change the ability to repair was taken further away from the owner. We used to tinker with cars, swap engines, carbs, camshafts all impossible now.
I feel sorry for people getting into the trade now, they will never know the feeling you get
when you crank over an engine after a rebuild and it bursts into life. Or hear the sound of
the air being drawn in by a hungry carburettor.

@@anteneupitra Those older high compression engines were not as inefficient as you might think, the oil embargo of 1973 happened in my opinion when compression ratio's of those big old cars were dropped significantly from 1971 to 1973 in the name of lowering emissions which destroyed efficiency, then your car burned 3 times the fuel from point A to B but somehow created less emissions?, that was all part of the same subject Tony was speaking about, electronic ignitions, computerized fuel injection and smaller cars were created to fix the efficiency problems created by lowering compression ratios.

I like your example of heated seats. A number of years ago I took my wife's pickup to a dealer for a recall issue. While waiting I wondered out to the line of new pickups, while looking at a very expensive pickup a salesman walked up and started telling me all about the pickup. When he got through telling me about the heated seats, I told him that my 1994 pickup had heated seats. He gave me a superior look and asked me how did I get heated seats in my pickup as the 1994 model did not come with them. I smiled and told him that 10 minutes before I started the pickup I'd let my dog into the pickup. He stared at me for a minute, then turned and left without another word.

I'm a few years older than Tony, born in 1959. The late 60's, 70's, and 80's were so different from today. I can't really articulate the difference other than to say there was much more freedom to be left alone from whatever you wanted to be left alone about.
The seventys were great to me. Things have been going down every since. I'm 73 now and glad I won't have to deal with crap much longer...

No big deal back in those days. My dad had to come and pick up me and my bike. We played and swam in sloughs and rivers and did lots of stuff our parents told us not to do like go near the river, have dirt-ball fights, drink beer, shoot guns, touch girls and blow things up. We got three channels on the TV and a fourth if someone wanted to go outside and turn the antenna... oh those were the days my friend. The wild days.

This video is a breathe of fresh air. Tony gets it. I'm in my mid 30s and I understood this world is upside down for many years.
I arrived here in the opposite direction: I knew our freedom is being systematically stripped away year by year before I ever got into wrenching. Last year I bought myself a 1982 F250 for work. It has a carbureted 302 and I’m here to learn how to work on it.
Born in 2003, "show me your papers" is how life has always been for me. The rule always was "If you want to leave the house, you need to have your cellphone on, and on you". Even at 20 years old, I still get punished when the battery runs out on that awful thing. I still live with my parents after all, and do not expect to be moving out any time soon. Everything that I have ever wanted to do has always seemed to be met with "you need a licence" "The HOA has forbidden it", or "we do not have space for that".
I sometimes get curious about the origins of rules that seem to exist specifically to get in my way. Mandatory car insurance, for example, $300 monthly is very expensive. It seems that with few exceptions, insurance became mandatory in most states in the 1970s, along with safety and emissions regulations, and fuel shortages. Premiums have apparently risen on average faster than inflation scince it became mandatory, and insurance companies can charge as much as they want. I wonder if state goverments were paid off by insurance companies...

Its scary because they even take "ownership" of your children. Whenever you have a baby, whats the first thing they "make" you do? Sign a birth "certificate". Its not so much a birth certificate as it is a document where once you sign it, your child becomes property of the state. This is why children services exist and if you are tagged as an "unfit" parent, they can come and take your children "legally". You dont have to sign the birth certificate, but, if you dont, your child cannot be a u.s. citizen and wont get a social security number and wont be allowed to go to school, or become employeed anywhere in the country, "legally". This world is f*cked. I am sure of one thing they can't ever take from me or own, my soul.

It is however just a matter of time when we wont be able to get/ afford parts to keep them going. Travel- I recently had to cross border to mexi, like your airport trek, xrays, empty my pockets, passport…. On an on. Keep it up man!!

I was in my late teens during the early 70's. When "stuff" started happening, for whatever reason, I thought "We've had too much freedom. 'They're' taking that away now." I'm now retired and thinking of building an engine powered tricycle (usable in bike lanes). I also had a high school Economics teacher who exposed the reality of "home ownership".
All properties when they are sold are registered no different than a vehicle. It is not a legal requirement regardless what anyone tells you. One can de-register their property no different than a vehicle. There are means to do so. One can hold title in Alodial form and claim supreme rights over their land.
I grew dope for the same reason, only realized how perfectly pure and simple and free that whole market was. It's also proof that no one is in charge. Why? Because they all thought they were gonna get rich from something whose value was derived from the very fact that it was illegal. The very fact that all the States thought it was going to bail them out of the financial mess they were in shows you that there isn't some master plan. We're just winging it.
Kinda reminds me of a buddy I had. He was an ER Doctor, turned rock climbing bum. And I said to him as we were hanging off the side of a cliff, "hey this is cool that you're an ER Dr, you know, if something happened out here" and he said, I couldn't really do much without the ER

Reminds me of an anecdote of such dirty tactics by councils, beach town in nth east australia, tropical rainforest evrywhere, severe cyclone came through and snapped the top 20 feet or so off every single tree. Suddenly 70% of the houses had ocean views when they'd never have seen a glimpse of it before, within a week council raised land rates, landlords then raised rents and majority of homeowners could no longer afford the rates, considering most had lost their house and/or job due to the disaster and half the population left.
Canopy height back to original now, but the land rates weren't reduced.
In my 50's now, absolute truth being said in this video. Tough for the younger folks to even comprehend it. They have no frame of reference. I have kids late teens early 20's, very difficult for them to understand but they are slowly getting it. Raise them old school and teach them to survive anything. It's all they got left.

And that is why I still have my 1970 Volvo wagon, 1974 Volvo wagon, 1965 Volvo 122 and my 1984 F150. I call them "blood and guts". They are simple, straight forward and user friendly. Keep them filled with motor oil, antifreeze and gasoline and you're ready to go. Parts are cheap and I have stocked up on just about everything I need for future repairs. I'm almost 63 and I saw this evolution starting to happen in 1981 when GM started using the CCC electronic ignition system with primitive electronic "brains" as we used to call them back then. At my age, there is no need now to buy a new car to keep up with my neighbors' strong desire to drive a new chariot. In fact, my neighbors now admire my collection of old Volvos. My collection they say remind them of when times were simpler. Imagine that.
Geoff Buys Cars channel, which is how I found Tonys' when he gave him a big shoutout, swears by them old Volvos and apparently they are becoming increasingly sought after in the UK. They are fairly cheap so demand isnt pushing the price up too much, but they do another things modern cars wont - appreciate in value.

The 900 series was the last real Volvo, but liked the 240s better than the later models. And the older simple ones were great, always admired the 164.

Great talk and dead on!!! Just talked to an old coworker at a gm dealership, the new EV caddy has 64 modules all integrated. If one goes bad they all have to be reprogrammed! It’s a 12 hour process!!! And very few have the training to do it…. When stuff hits the fan worthless!!!!! The best answer for all of this is to have a relationship with Jesus God Bless

Got that right! Do you really want freedom? He who the Son sets free, is free indeed. Jesus said it. It's a reality. It's true. Been there and experienced it. You can too. Find out for your self or stay in bondage, its your choice. Of course there's a huge penalty if you choose wrong. There's a huge blessing if you choose right, too. Life is just that way. Your so called freedom can be used to your own detriment, if your a rebel and want to hang on to your life, the way it now, because that life has a fatal flaw in it. It's not compatible with the God who created it ( the original owner, the maker ,the designer, the created man made by God) unless it gets His upgrade, His new program, His cleansing, His renewal, His download of an Atonement through the blood of Jesus, to repair all the defects in you and me. We are all filthy, dirty, sinful and born with a propensity to end up in hell, alienated from God, if we don't make the move toward Designer, The Creator, The Ruler of everything for all eternity. You wanta get back to the original man? Think the First man, Adam before he gave up everything to deception. That guy owned everything freely but lost it all. He was blindsided, hit with all thats going on still today. You will own nothing, not even your soul, just to think you own something ,when you really don't. Your already blinded if your living that reality. Your in a prison of sorts. Fight your way free and give your life to Jesus, thats where the freedom is. It's all spiritual, because thats who you are. God breathed into Adam His life! Doesn't get any better that that! Now we have to get that back and we can by accepting Gods plan to buy us back, get us back, renew us back to our original design, like Adam was, but its even better, because of the Upgrade provided. When you have Jesus and He has you, you get everything He is! Thats the honest truth. Read the Book! God was writing all the things He wanted conveyed in the Holy Bible- KJV. KJV is the closest and best Gold standard book we have. In this world and for now, we can start there. The whole plan is there. Look at it like a Chilton manual, produced by the car manufacturers.
Handing our freedom to God is the proper way to remain a slave. Our freedom can only be achieved by taking our responsibilities and acting here and now.
