  • First Q&A where I respond to a couple of more complex questions from viewers' comments.
Question no.1 regarding a rather large Elm bonsai which was presented in my first episode. I elaborate on how I started this tree, from collected yamadori material from the wild in 2013. A few pictures are inserted to demonstrate the development of the bonsai from 2015 until the present day.

Under my Fraxinus ornus video, I received the question if Fraxinus excelsior is a good candidate for bonsai. My thoughts on the subjects and little ash are presented.

I really enjoy your Q&A format Maros. I find that the questions truly cross into what I’ve pondered in the very beginnings of my bonsai journey. Very well explained as to the pros and cons, the amount of effort gained or those somewhat compromised. Scalability and factors to assist our plants whether it be in branch or trunk volume and your references to positive and negative space relative to the composition as an art form (to me) speaks a lot of the artist in you Maros - your approach very much parallels just as a sculptor and a painter would.! Again thank you for helping me understand alternative techniques and concepts Maros…Phil

Hi Nigel. If it resembles an elm tree to You then it is good, It should look like it. I try to style my trees like trees in nature. I'm glad you found my channel. Let me use this opportunity to thank you for all you have done to promote bonsai to a wide audience and spread positive energy. Greetings.

Really interesting Q&A Maros. My experience is pretty limited so always enjoy learning from others' wisdom and experience. I admire the natural effortless styles your trees take on. Styling is by far, the hardest part of bonsai for me, so have appreciated your discussions in this area. I look forward to your next video!

Hi Sue. It seems that I could talk about styling and ways to make decisions even more. Maybe it will be useful to more folks. I will think about how to arrange it so it makes sense for viewers and try to bring new stuff. Thanks for your support 🙏 👍😉

Many, many thanks for this Maros!
Although a work in progress,( isn’t all bonsai?)
this, as I said before, has to be the best bonsai representation of a mature elm in nature.
    A truly majestic tree.
    So many questions answered here.
    Totally inspiring stuff!

Im happy it didn't disappoint you. As you said, work in progress and many years will pass until it will reach the peak. The tree was repotted after long period of time this spring, so it slowed down a bit. Now it went to national exhibition, even if not perfect because it was collected in the hills over the city where exhibition was held. So it was symbolical return to honor the friend who was on collecting trip in 2013 with me, and is not with us anymore. For the purpose of the exhibition all bottom branches had to be shortened to fit the profile. Now it will not go anywhere for many years and new ugly sacrifice branches will be grown again.
      Greetings.

Got it. My name is Maroš/ I use Maros it makes it easier to get. I'm used to confusion with the name, it is not big deal. Sometimes it is confused for polish version Mariusz, I get a lot of Marco, etc. It is normal, many people, many languages, bad pronunciation, it is a Babylon sometimes. Thanks God for AI, Google and auto translate functionalities. It connects us much more.

Excellent video- and I totally agree- everyone will say "plant in the ground". But where? I live in an apartment, with a balcony. I think the best many of us can do is a decent sized box- and as you say, you can also control a lot of elements.
Question Maros- do you think that young material, which has not yet got roots which extend to the edges of the box or pot- has any benefit being "in the ground". I can't really see why it would, but I'm not sure if, e.g., the fact it is already in a pot of some kind, with the conditions there, already means that the roots are in some way "constricted" before they even start to fill the pot? Sounds silly, but it is quite important to me if I am missing something!

    • @marosbonsai
      @marosbonsai  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks, buddy. You get the point. You are an example. Not everyone is able to field grow trees for trunks.
Regarding your question, it requires a wider explanation, but I think certain benefits of ground growing we are not aware of exist. I will try to cover it in the next Q&A. Agreed?😉👍
