The most original and romantic scene in a movie I´ve ever seen

I saw this in the theater when I was 6...I was always touched by Kumiko's grace and beauty. Was a sucker for those gentle, Asian girls ever since.
When she dropped her hair I lost it.

Most of us did. Her grace and exotic beauty hypnotized us just as much as Daniel. Too bad the typhoon cut their romance short. 😉

I first discovered the ASMR concept when watching this movie... I remember many times fast forwarding (yes VHS days) to this part and letting it play to try to fall asleep to.

@@HeatherTerry84 Haha. I always wondered if there was another person on this planet who got that same strange "feeling" from this as I did. Good stuff!

ITS BEAUTIFUL WHEN YOUR PROUD OF YOUR HERITAGE/CULTURE. I ADMIRE THE WAY SHE SHARED HER TRADITIONAL TEA CEREMONY. THIS SCENE WAS FILLED WITH CULTURE AND TRADITION. IT WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR HIM. ALSO HE TRULY WANTED TO EXPRESSED,HIS APPRECIATION FOR HER. SHE WAS PROUD THAT SHOWED UP. YOU COULD SEE HER HEART BLUSHED WHEN HE ARRIVED. THE TEA CEREMONY WAS A BEAUTIFUL WAY,TO SAY"I LOVE YOU" HE HONORED HER BY BEING OBSERVANT,RESPECTFUL,FOR HER TRADITION. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL,ROMANTIC WAY OF SAYING.I CARE ABOUT YOU. LOVE,RESPECT,APPRECIATION WAS FELT IN THIS SCENE. LOVE WAS EXPRESSED OVER A CUP OF TEA. NO WORDS,JUST LOVE. "THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCENE" LOVING YOURSELF AND WHERE SHARING.

Yeah and I love the kimonos that she wore in this movie, the one she wore for Mr. Miyagi's father's funeral, the one she wore here for the tea ceremony and the one she wore for the obon festival. I wish I could see her in a kimono more often than I do in Western Style clothing. A kimono is how I like seeing Japanese people dressed best in.

Ang sarap sigurong inumin nyan, tsaa ng mga Hapon. Gusto ko talaga ang mga tsaa, nakakarelaks inumin. Lipton tea lang ang madalas kong inumin, masarap naman eh.

It was THIS movie scene that attracted me to try Matcha Tea. And ever since I tried Matcha Tea, it became my greatest hot beverage obsession!!!!!
Just today, my Organic Matcha Tea Powder from Japan got delivered and after seeing this scene, I'm gonna consume it like a Japanese Tea Ceremony every time. XD

Actually, this was a Columbia Pictures (now Sony Pictures Entertainment) release. Sony owns the franchise property. Paramount distributes some other great franchises as well (Indiana Jones, The Godfather Trilogy.)

Damn...I can't stop laughing. Every it cuts to them looking at each other, Kumiko, has that look thinking, "i have a crush on you Daniel", while Daniels looks back thinking, "I wanna get in dat ass!!!"
LOL. Btw, first time I saw this movie, all I kept thinking was, "Kumiko is fine but, damn girl fix your hair!!!"

    • @andrewcolinwilson1

@@olafurssonkyllian8153 Yes, a Japanese-American. And she was the only Japanese-American celebrity in this movie who was issei -- a first generation immigrant from Japan and I refer to her as issei because that's what Japanese-Americans who were born in Japan and then immigrated to the USA are usually referred to as while Japanese-Americans who were born and raised in the USA are referred to as nisei, sansei, yonsei and/or gosei -- second, third, fourth and/or fifth generation descendants of Japanese emigrants and so on and Japanese-Americans who were born in North America and returned to North America after being educated in Japan are referred to as kibei -- distinguished from nisei and also because she was born in Japan to a Japanese-American serviceman who was nisei -- a second generation descendant of Japanese emigrants and his wife who is half Japanese and half Filipino and then immigrated to the USA as an infant where she was raised and where her parents had her 2 younger brothers who are sansei -- third generation descendants of Japanese emigrants.
