Been using the ALPS OutdoorZ Extreme Commander X + Pack for almost a decade now, the pack goes with me yearly and no wear or tear, after all the trips it looks brand new and have had no failures whatsoever. I would assume the ALPZ pack here is of the same quality, just couldnt ask for a better pack for those that go hunting rather than hunt near the camp.
Question, when you load meat in the pack, Is there something you need to consider in terms of scent and not emoting meat scent to bear or coyote? I mean you pack the meat, take it back to camp, then do you hang the pack from a tree like you would a bear can?
Unfortunately there isn't a way to mute the smell of the meat when you're packing out. When you place the meat in a game bag, it prevents blood from getting all over yourself and the pack, but a bear will still definitely be able to smell it. Normally, when a bear smells the meat it is also accompanied by the scent of human odor, and that can prevent the bear from wanting to take a closer look. It is more likely a bear will go to the kill site upon you leaving. So if you have to return for a second trip to haul meat/hide, be very aware that a bear might be on the kill.
I have been hunting for my entire life, started carrying a rifle when I was ten. I have hunted in Washington (home) Alaska, BC, Idaho, Montana. I have never had a bear or yote tear up my pack, which is in the tent with me. I have had black bears tear up my camp looking for food while I was out hunting, despite bear "safe" food storage. Human scent and noise deters almost all predators, especially since most greater predators recognize the scent and sight of a rifle/shotgun.

I was wondering too, being a woman the weight AND Strength + Durability are important. I DON'T like wasting money.
