I’m not rich! But when I did buy something at Tiffany I was made to feel like a million bucks! The service really IS legendary (just like Holly Golightly says in the movie). 💙
There was a great 60 minutes segment on Peter Marino now 73 years old. He loves the whole leather fetch garments and accessories and proudly wears them daily. It is definitely a different style since mainstream of people wears clothes that fit the norm. It is not your typical sometimes boring white-collar clothes. To each, their own style and he embraces it very well. Plus his design esthetics is beyond amazing...
I'm not overly impressed with the remodel. I would have used an updated retro 30s/40s Art Deco/Moderne-style with those video screens, thus capturing the elegance of Tiffany's. Perhaps using the Tiffany blue in upholstery or wall panels for the jewelry? Missed opportunity! 😔 I did manage to visit the store in August 2017, during my first visit to NYC, and still have the Sterling silver pen with the T on it, as well as the box, the white satin ribbon and the bag! From the doorman at the front doors to the woman who worked the elevator to my saleswoman, it was such a treat. I felt just like Holly, and I'm a man! I plan for my reboot visit to NYC and would like to see the "facelift" in person, as well as have breakfast? at the cafe... something Holly never was able to experience! 🤗😋 💍
IMHO I liked the old world charm the original store had. Been in there a number of times and yes I bought some things too! I'm not a fan of ultra modern anything.
That's the most white privilege thing to say. Black people don't have that same luxury. Once a black person walks into tiffany, he's a criminal, and looking to steal.
For about $100 (or less) they do have some perfumes and items like pens in the stationary department. Also there is a nice modern bone china mug in Tiffany blue for $100 which would make a nice souvenir.
Yeah, I was thinking couldn't the Cosplayer Architect at least integrated some of the original design and elements into it including upcycling original iconic trademark pieces of the fixtures with imperfections and all
I saw both the old look and recently the remodel in person. It really is a shame they didn't preserve, at minimum, the ground floor. It looks like any glitzy store you'd find in vegas or dubai
Those are things that catch the eye of the people spending new money. Old money is done. And the retailers are more than willing to leave them behind. They have a business to run and profits to make. And they won't do it catering to a class of people that are handing down the same Tiffany diamond from generation to generation since 1905.
Your wrong!! The Ralph Lauren store on Madison Ave is all dark wood and class, as is Harrods in London. This is all about modernist scumbags forcing their vision of decor on us!!
Contrary to a lot of the comments, I like the remodel. While some things are best kept preserved, it's good to update others. I think the remodel is modern without falling into the blandness of "minimalist" design. But it its also not maximalist with visual clutter for the sake of filling space. I think the designer really threaded the needle here.
When your architect shows up with a captain's hat and brass knuckles, FIND A NEW ARCHITECT. He turned a timeless, elegant shop into an Apple Genius Bar.
It's gauche. The understated elegance of the old store put the focus on the merchandise. This conflicts with that aim. I guess being the richest man in the world still cannot buy you good taste.
The store looks amazing. Tiffany had fallen in the dark ages. Declining sales, aging client base and irrelevant. Bring in new owners, new design, the global star power of Beyoncé and they are winning. You must change in retail or perish. Just like many of the stores on 5th Avenue that are now out of business, Henri Bendel, Lord & Taylor are two of them.
well since i am not buying from lvmh i will not be buying this brand .. all our spending going to one family is not ok.. spread your purchasing power around people!! support smaller up & coming brands doing cool things & there are so many!!
Do you know that 90%of the eyewear are made by one Italian company? Lexitica, which on all the brands you can name it. There are a few start up eyewear company in California now...
The architect looks like the security guard 😂 with that hat😅. Even if you can afford All the Tiffany, you can't take it with you when you expire. Not even the pharaohs of Egypt. So I'm spending my money traveling the world, experience it.
LOL! Right? Can't help thinking Village People Leather Man every time I see him. That's just his thing apparently, and he's not gay! Though having a wife and child doesn't necessarily make you not gay ;o) Lots to read when you google him, and a fair amount not very flattering. Regards from Indiana!
I really like the redesign, I wished they used more Tiffany blue on the ground floor though. Maybe a turquoise carpet to complement all the white marble? Even though I know carpet would be a lot harder to keep clean it would feel a lot more luxurious to walk on and see. Plus, it would have been a perfect reflection of NYC Grand Central Station with its turquoise ceiling.
Seeing the epitome of nepotism at work, where a 31yo rich son, is paraded around as an executive; No thanks. I’ll skip. So tired of the super corporations.
So, if your father were in his father's shoes, and you were offered a job with your dad, you'd say no? Family businesses have offered work to its next generation, hence keeping the "family business" in the family. There is nothing wrong with that avenue, especially if the person in the job took time to gain the education and on-the-job training required to walk into that job. People are quick to judge someone's job in life without truly knowing what they went through to get there.
What a disaster, the glamour of the 1930s was lost at the moment Tiffany's owner got his son involved in the business which is a typical mafia move. This is something that Trump would do, and then Peter Marino who dresses like a YMCA member. Oh, dear!🤣🤣🤣
Marino says he was hired to do away with the "stern & intimidating" atmosphere and all the comments lambast him for doing away with the stern & intimidating atmosphere. The public needs to understand the architect does not decide the 'direction' in the vast majority of cases, it is the owners who decide what they want, an architect consults with an owner at EVERY stage (drawing, material selection etc.) nothing is done without the owner's approval. NOTHING.
The ruined Tiffany's looks sterile and has no charm or welcoming atmosphere. I have never been to NYC, but I would have gone by Tiffany's. Not now. Miss Golightly would run screaming from this.
Tasteless boring architect, tasteless boring designers, tasteless boring owner! It's lost all it's magic ✨ all it's classic Elegance! Now it's like every other LVMH owned company cheap Chinese trash! Never going back.
Personally, I think the 1960s aesthetic was statelier and more refined. If they left it the same all these years it would absolutely be fantastic, not to mention a tourist attraction and a perfect representation of MCM. Now, the interior has no personality at all and is bland and generic.
@lisamcdonald1820 It was heavenly! I used to buy the big bottle, I think it was $125 If you Google it, you will see the beautiful art decco square bottle shaped like Tiffany's building. People are selling it at crazy prices...like $400 and up!
Oh yezzzzzz guys, you can bet on it, my very favorite political strategy, treat them human beings like jewels, oh YES WE CAN, most people is expecting miracles from political leaders but true power is within us, manufacturing jewels, the White House is so helpless, seems that the only thing left behind is...push the Red button, only war disputes seeking for enemies to fight against and obey guns lobbies, can we ever dare to dream of any alternative at all? Big question friends
This entire video screams hedonism, and not in a positive way. Wonder how many homeless people that 10 carat ring could feed and shelter? I find the store’s interior shockingly bright, almost sensory overload. I prefer to shop in a more calming atmosphere. But I will admit it is beautiful.
I’m not rich! But when I did buy something at Tiffany I was made to feel like a million bucks! The service really IS legendary (just like Holly Golightly says in the movie). 💙
The architect looks like he’s on his way to an SS meeting.
Same thought! Why on earth would he wear something like that. At first, I thought something was wrong with his hands.😮
💯% agree for a 70+ year old he should know better than to be dressed in that ww2 looking uniform.

Peter Marino dresses like Tiffany & Co is a S&M club.

I am sorry - but I loved the old Tiffany's.
No need to apologize for great taste 🎉🥳👍
IMHO I liked the old world charm the original store had. Been in there a number of times and yes I bought some things too! I'm not a fan of ultra modern anything.
I don't think I could afford to buy anything at Tiffany's, but it would be fun to walk through it and see the different products.
Are you related to Miss Golightly? That is what they did in the scene in the movie.
Some of the silver necklaces are very reasonable. I got my twin nieces each one for graduation a few years ago.

I love the new Tiffany’s! Beautiful!

Old Tiffany had charm. New Tiffany is like a hospital ward.
I want to window shopping one time to tiffany in New York City, in 2002 and was awesome. I feel like millionaire. 😘😘😘
The old way going to waste side so sad..I live the old way
Sure is nice to have a rich daddy!
Unfortunately it seems not to be able to buy creativity and imagination, somehow they managed to make it look tacky and boring.
breathtaking!
All that money spent on refurbishment, and it ends up looking like most other luxury shops. It has nothing that says "this is Tiffany's".
Exactly. It looks like any other modern bland store.
When your architect shows up with a captain's hat and brass knuckles, FIND A NEW ARCHITECT. He turned a timeless, elegant shop into an Apple Genius Bar.
Oh, Brad ...
Brad...I totally agree. It lost all.of
its Class.
Yes his design will keep this place open not dying and in the past. Retail, keep up or perish.
You're right! They had already done a similar kind of cheapening other Tiffany stores, the one in the Houston Galleria for one.
Well put
Marino looks like an extra from "Cruising."
It's gauche. The understated elegance of the old store put the focus on the merchandise. This conflicts with that aim. I guess being the richest man in the world still cannot buy you good taste.

Wikipedia says the store was first renovated early this century.
This shows that understated style and taste is dead!
HORRIBLE !!

Mon Dieu giving praise to the Arnault's hahaha. World's richest man but a mere after thought in the bigger scheme of things
