You don't want to use the more powerful T series CPUs unless you don't plan to use it mobile anyway because the battery life with them CPUs is awful. I own the higher end e6500 with the Nvidia graphics that came from factory with a T series CPU. I switched it out for a slightly less powerful p9700 (2.8 ghz) and I get about an hour more when on battery and best of all noticed very little if any performance hit in day to day tasks. If anything going from a 7,200 rpm hard drive to an ssd will also net a great boost and battery savings. Nearly 10 years old now it still works just fine for day to day tasks.

The bios isn't updated I've just found out and from the Dell website the newest update was 2013 and it's A19 but I'm running A15. It says it's not compatible but this is a X64 based. What and I missing here? Any suggestions?
Hi, To install 64-bit Windows, you need to do a full reinstall. You can’t upgrade 32 to 64. I’d also not recommend flashing the BIOS from Windows if possible, as it has a higher chance of bricking your board. Sticking to A15 is probably fine.

Hi, the 5550 is a much newer machine with very different hardware. I have no experience with those machines. Rule of thumb is that anything 6th gen Intel or newer is fully non-upgradable. Most 5550 models have an i5-5200U, all U chips are soldered and cannot be upgraded.
