My son just graduated at the beginning of May. The stuff thrown out/left behind is definitely a pickers dream. His roommates alone left a kurig, a 32" flat screen tv, a microwave, toaster and more. Of course i took it all!!

At one local university where I live, they have what they call dump day at the end of year. Stuff goes to the University arena and they have a giant yard sale. Great way to get rid of what students can`t take home. And a great place to pick up small appliances, paper and school supplies, sports equipment, etc. Reduces garbage.

Tip= If you see anything with cactus or flamingos on them, pick them and sell them at flea market. Any item with those motifs are selling fast. I saw a light up cactus sign that you missed in one of the trash cans, but of course it is easier for me to see it in your video. :)

I rented my house to 3 college guys while I was waiting for it to sell. I can vouch that they do NOT put their garbage out weekly. And when they moved out I had to hire someone to take all the crap, including some furniture that they left behind. No, they didn't get their security deposit back :)

I know some folks who run a thrift store and disaster relief agency as needed. Volunteers help with college moveout days in exchange for keeping the good dishes, clothes, furniture that the kid's throw out.

Inspirational. I’ve started filming my trash picking runs. I met a guy a few weeks ago out picking who suffers from depression and we were talking about channels like this and how when he can’t go out he likes watching the videos and would like to see more content from our country (Australia). I was disappointed that you need a certain subscriber count to livestream as I’d like to take people along on trips but oh well.
Thanks for sharing it’s a nice area of the country you live in.

I work as a janitor, in the the first year dorms at the university. When the kids move out they through out so much stuff.. I try to pull out as much stuff as I can that can be donated, but it is hard when you got 1200 students moving out in under a week. If we find anything we want thought, the managers usually lets us take it for a dollar or two, (the money goes to charity). I think this year we had over 60 mini fridges left behind by the students too. These get resold back to the student in September for $25-40 each depending on size. This money goes to charity also

OH MY STARS IN HEAVEN! WHO HOARDS GARBAGE LIKE THAT!? And then you said pretty much the same thing.
You can dump the wine on top of a pile of brush/grass clippings to help it decompose faster-compost it, same with the beer- YOU CANNOT SELL THE BOOZE WITHOUT A LICENSE.
Why were you poking around some garbage bags: BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T STINK.
Dude you are killing me. You unload almost half of that baker's rack and then leave it. chuckle, yes, you are noodle this morning, but we all have days like that. Especially with allergies. I swear there are days when I KNOW I'm 85, and the next day I do something really stupid, and I'm 15 again.
    Thanks for taking us along.

I really enjoyed this video, especially the last stop with all the vintage stuff. Loved loved love it. Reminded me so much of my grandmother's things. Some of those tin are real old, Taco. I'm 62 and my grandmother used to save some of the tin to put crayons in, that way when we went to spent the weekend with her we always knew where to find them. All the coffee cans with the scenes on them should sell, even the 1976, it would here in the south. It is 44 yrs old. My sister and I have some and we both use one for the big kitchen utensils. I love watching all your videos on trash picking & the locker reveils too. Keep up the good work. Peace Out. God Bless.

I live in major college town and u would be amazed what the college students throw out when they are leaving. I have found brand name clothing, shoes, jewelry, brand new vacuums, household stuff, you name it I have found it in the trash. they don't care it's not their money they're spending their parents money. basically a lot of the times, so they don't care if it's something that can be donated or make money off of. they just pitch it in the trash and go on. If I could give a price on the items that I have found in the trash it could be a close to like $1,500 to $2,000 worth of stuff that was just one year. so I would suggest the next time you do a college run open the bags cuz it doesn't mean it's trashed, but they're throwing away a lot of times they bag it up and put it in trash bags and throw it out on the street. so you could have been walking by a lot of name-brand stuff expensive items and it looks like trash cuz it's a trash bags. doesn't necessarily mean it's a trash. BTW the stuff I found was like in just five dumpsters and there's like over a hundred dumpsters or more. on that side of town in the college area. I found so much stuff I didn't even have enough room in 5 vehicle to go to anymore dumpsters or trash cans score on the side of the curb.

Its so sad to see all that clothing, bedding and such just thrown away. Im sure there are homeless shelters in the area that would be grateful to get clothing and bedding, donations for those who go to them. I am disabled and fighting to get on SSI and have been homeless myself and have been very poor as in way below the poverty level and in fact I still am poor and after I pay my bills, I have $25 left for the rest of the month which means buying clothing and such isnt an option for me and I am positive there are people in your area who are in the same situation as I am., (thankfully there are food stamps and a food shelf here or I wouldnt survive) and its heartbreaking to see how little thought is given to those in need.

If I found a Patagonia jacket in the garbage, I would be looking at the tags on the comforter and all the clothes at that point.

Seems the younger generation is spoiled. So much of that stuff could have been donated. Lots of recycles and by the end you have very little actual garbage left. Isn’t Mother Earth worth that little bit of effort?

I was thinking that all that stuff must be hoarded in their rooms. Paper and Moose was by that street yesterday,I remember seeing the blue print with the broken frame.

Glad you picked up that boxed wine before some little kid found it and drank it. Can you imagine all those linens just being tossed like that, that stuff in not cheap. All that garbage I would hate to have to go in and clean those places.

A lot of the time international students can't take stuff back home with them so they just leave it and it gets thrown away. I've picked up a lot of used textbooks and furniture this way

I am so amazed by how much crap is thrown out in your area! I live in Washington State and we have big recycling bins for each home that are free (no charge for pick-up), as well as yard-waste bins that are free to use. We don't have massive piles of trash and furniture waiting for pick-up on garbage day. Everybody takes that stuff to the dump, and actually pays to dump it! Your landfills back there must be massive and full of so much reusable/recyclable stuff! It's kind of sad to see.

Madame Mulot There’s usually huge garbage bins for college students too.

@@jackiebd24 Yes, but does ANYONE back there recycle? It's kind of a big deal here in Washington, where we have such gorgeous forests and animal life (in the water and out) so we try to keep a more green and sustainable environment. Our recycling program takes almost everything, and our yard-waste bins can include kitchen scraps, bones, egg shells, etc. It's nice knowing that we aren't throwing out too much trash.

That bag, oil on canvas duck... get the mechanics orange hand cleaner. Not the stuff with pumice, but the white creamy stuff that is called "Goop". Rub it in and toss it into the laundry with regular detergent. You'd be amazed at what will come out!

That would be funny if you found a box of wine at every stop! I think the animal rescue would take the quilts, rugs, & pillows..too bad the bags aren't clear! You'll find somebody who drinks wine, trust me. Maybe Paper Moose....

It is always interesting to see what a professional takes, as opposed to what I take in my morning walks around the neighborhood. Most of what I get goes to the church resale shop.
