Story 1: NTA you were being realistic with her, if the boyfriend is not on beard with the baby now, is most likely that he won't be on board once the baby is born.
The system can make boyfriend pay child support, something that is owed to the child, but they can't force the boyfriend to fullfil his parental role or to stay with OP's daughter.
Your daughter needs to get herself used to the idea that she'll be a single mother and so does your ex wife, because the responsibility of taking care of the grandkid will fall on her.

The daughter will struggle to find another relationship with anyone, men older than her who want to date her are already a red flag, but even so they wouldn’t want to take on the responsibility of being a father, boys her own age will stay away from her like she’s the plague because they too don’t want to be responsible for being a step father
I don’t think she’s realised yet how hard it’s going to be, and that she WILL be alone, with millions of childless women out there, why would anyone just starting their lives go for the single mother?
She’ll end up as one of the single mothers that make being a single mother their entire personality because she won’t have much else going on in her life
The ONLY way that doesn’t happen is if OPs ex steps up and takes on all the babysitting duties, but frankly I don’t see that happening

  • @patc4586

So, absentee dad wants to walk you down the aisle? Easy solution: Let's say the aisle is 40 feet long. You are 28 years old. Divide 40 by 28. You get 1.4285714286 or 1.429 feet. Your father was an active participant in your life for 10 years. So 10 × 1.429 = 14.29 feet.
Both your mom and dad start walking you down the aisle, but your dad drops out at 14.29 feet. Just as he dropped out of your life when you were 10 years old. Your mother continues to walk you down that aisle just as she continued to be a loving parent ever since the divorce.
Bonus points if dad's seat is 14.29 feet behind mom's place of honor.

My mother gave me the best advice anyone can have during a pregnancy scare when I was younger, which the OP of the first story seems to know as well. "Children cannot raise children."
That line is a double-edged lesson. Either the young parent will be forced to grow up too soon and too swiftly and lose out on a lot of life experiences, or they will NOT raise the child they wanted once reality shows them it's not like a doll they can just put away when they get bored. it gets shoved onto the most conveniently available and easiest to manipulate adult nearby.
I hope she chooses to adopt out that child and arranges things before it is born. Babies are very popular for adoption cases. Childless couples incapable of conceiving will wait for YEARS for a chance at having a newborn infant to raise.

  • @miss_mish

Story 1: So the ex is delusional. If the daughter wants to raise a child then she needs the hard truth to make an informed decision. She needs to speak to a teen mother and find out just how hard it is. She needs to know exactly what will happen and that the boyfriend will not be a father if he doesn't want to. He is a teen and unlikely to be paying any child support. I'd be surprised if the parents of the bf will have to pay child support for a child that isn't even theirs. Good on you for helping her to see the situation clearly. She has some hard decisions to make with no great choices just the best one for her. Hopefully she will learn to close her legs or at the very least use contraception correctly.

It’ll simulate the reality of being a teen mom for her, which is what she desperately needs here. Hopefully something can be legally worked out with the (ex?) bf and his legal obligation, but I am with OP on this. If the daughter's highschool doesn't have a student-mother's daycare, she's going to have to be made to do remote schooling from home on the days she's set to live with dad or dad is going to have to give full/primary custody of daughter to mom and pay more child support. And the mom is going to likely change her mind fast when she has to pay for childcare or arrange her own work to be able to take care of her grandbaby while daughter attends school.

The tuna sandwich story: there's not really cooking involved in a tuna sandwich unless it's like grilling or baking a fillet of tuna that you then put on a sandwich. But what comes to mind when making a tuna sandwich is opening a can, mixing with condiments, maybe chopping some pickles or veg to add to mix, and slapping that on bread. The wife's daughter can do that much herself and the wife can actually cook a meal for the family. Also because of mercury and the like in fish, especially tuna, it's advised to not consume it too frequently. Best to reduce it to at least once a week.

This is typical upper class snobbish behaviour of Brits that carry that "Downton Abbey" vibe. They still have the mindset of "The British, the British, the British are best. So up with the British and down with the rest." And they let everyone feel it.

Did I make a stupid decision trying to gently push my lemon out of a very dark intersection before i got t-boned? Yup. But the electrical shorted and even my hazards weren't working. I made a silly decision. Fortunately, car vs building left car destroyed and building lost a small chunk of brick. Is still standing and fine to this day.

Tuna Sandwiches: Unless the wife is buying raw tuna steaks to cook, I don't see how you 'cook' a sandwich. That said, the compromise is to prepare the salad and bread, and then substitute cheese or baloney or some deli meat for the tuna. ESH, the husband and wife for their pettiness, and the children for not preparing their own food.

S1: The only way OP's child support payments for his 16 yr old daughter would increase is if the court legally determines one or both sets of grandparents responsible to pay child support until the bio father is of age and can make the money to take over the payments. Child support obligations generally do not increase just because the minor child has a baby as her bio parent is typically not on the hook to pay for the grandchild.
OP is NTA for giving his daughter the blunt wake up call that she needs about the reality of her situation. She is having a baby, not a baby doll! She needs to realize that if she gets to attend and finish high school without opting for her GED or attend college it will be a blessing. There will not be hanging out with friends, late night parties, weekend getaways, long trips, or free time that isn't spent on a job between parenting and school work. Too many young mother's love the idea of having a baby to dress up in matching outfits, take adorable Instagram pictures with, or to show off on social media and are completely overlooking and deluding themselves about the hard work, stress, long hours, late nights, and financial woes that come with being a parent. You potentially have most of your life to become and be a parent, just be happy being a kid while you can because you can never get that time or lack of responsibilities back!

(A stay at home to a 17 and 18 year old mind you.) you deserve to be divorced and get 0% of the marital assets. What could you POSSIBLY be doing that would make the best effort you could do, sandwiches twice a week, especially tuna only, when the other daughter hates it. This is laughable, and half of Reddit goes, “wait it’s a woman tho she must be in the right! Wow OP you sound controlling!” Yeha if only his wife could control the stove and actually cook. Lmfao. I dont get why these teen moms keep expecting a baby will lock-in a guy that doesnt want to stick around🤨 as if a baby ever kept a runner around🙄, historically we've all seen the price of my body my choice "mom path" the guys that never signed up for a baby dont stick around and only if by some miracle he's half decent you might get some child support, but the sad reality is that if you keep it youre on your own. I only feel bad for the poor kid that in most of these cases gets bounced around like unwanted luggage on reluctant relatives who feel bad for the poor child while the teen mom finally gets hit with the reality that having a baby isnt like having a doll you can just drop once you get bored or tired😞

1st story. Thoose teens stopped being children when they engaged in adult activities. And just hearing the young mans parents saying they're going to protect him? Where was this protection when he was having unprotected sex. Im a mother of three boys and i taught them from a young age about responsibility and not being stupid. And getting any one pregnant was a get a job and pay child support deal, because that girl didnt impregnate herself. Note none of my boys got that stupid either.
Now That boy and his daughter dont have to marry, but he should be responsible. Be a better dad and take that boys family to court and make your daughter get a job as well. Saying you'll not help and placing the blame on your daughter makes you the butt.
Im glad your being realistic but be realistic towards the other 16 year old in this. And his dam parents
