    It actually kept the details in the eyes and softened the details in the nose of the hyena (around 4.45). But it's a nice improvement.

    From my testing it is comparable to DxO Pure Raw 3. With the exception that DxO PR3 doesn’t crash the way Lr does. I have 32GB MacBook Pro with 8GB GPU so horsepower should not be an issue, but it fails repeatedly, so I’ll stick to DxO thanks.

      Thanks for the feedback Jeremy. I’ve never tried DXO software, but I’ll give it a bash. Strange that LR is failing on you, are you on the latest version?

    Thanks Mark. My only problem is sometimes denoise does not work in LR and I dont know why or what I am doing wrong....... so then I go to Topaz Denoise AI.... will try and work it out.

      Hi Carol, what file types are you trying to DENOISE? It will only work on RAW files…

    Hi Mark. Love your videos. Ps why does light room export dng and not a psd file.

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for watching and for the comment. Lightroom gives us a DNG file because it keeps all the RAW data for us to better utilize for editing. A DNG file is an Adobe Raw file format. A PSD file is a Photoshop file and doesn’t give us enough data like a Raw file does.

    Hello Mark! When I watched you go through the process on your video, I was absolutely amazed at how fast yours are?! Mine takes about 20 - 30 minutes per image (which is VERY frustrating)!!! Have you got any suggestions on how to make the denoise process go a bit faster (by changing settings)?!

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Lynette. I did speed up the rendering of the DNG in the video, but on average my MacBook Pro takes about 45 seconds to DENOISE the image. I don’t have any suggestions unfortunately on speeding up the process, it all comes down to the speed of your computers processor.

    Adobe's recommendation is to do Denoise first. The issue is that some processing steps, particularly TEXTURE and SATURATION are applied to the noise and therefore are undone or altered if Denoise is applied after them.

    • @MarkDumbleton

      That’s interesting. I’ll definitely do some tests on that. Thanks for the comment.

    It's too slow for my old computer. 25 min per pic. Topaz take 3 min.

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a pity. 25 minutes processing time is way too long. Glad Topaz is shorter for you.

    Hi, thanks for taking the time to make this video. After playing around with the new AI Denoise function in Lightroom, from what I can tell is, every adjustment you make, from adjusting levels, crop, sharpen and even using the heal brush etc remains live after using the Ai Denoise and creating the DNG. So, in my mind is doesn't matter about the order of operations. I think Adobe advises to denoise first, but I think that if you are increasing exposure and shadows you should do that first to ascertain how much denoising you should apply. Also, it is good to point out is that this will only work on Full RAW files. If you shoot in medium RAW and Small Raw or any other format you won't have the option to use AI Denoise.

    While improvement in processing software is always good I have to say it's always sad to see a small company like Topaz develop a new technology only to have a MegaCorportion use their awesome economic resources to take it over. Years ago I approached Old Town canoe to see if they would hire me to help them develop a line of sea kayaks based upon my many years of experience. Their VP smiled and said "Not interested." When I pointed out that sea kayaking was going to be a huge market opportunity he said, "I don't doubt that for a moment but we'll let little guys like you develop the market and then use our nationwide dealership network to take it all away from you. Seems like that's what Adobe is doing here…

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is tough for the smaller companies out there, it’s super tough to compete with the giant corporations.

    Thanks so much for this video, Mark - very helpful! Indeed, all your videos are incredibly accessible and enlightening. After shooting with my first DSLR (Nikon D80) for 13 years and only using Photoshop CS5 (from back when it was still sold on a CD), with a little 3-year gap in between after the D80 gave up the ghost mid-COVID, I was finally able to get my hands on a Nikon D500 along with my first proper super-telephoto lens (Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary) last December and have shot (if you will pardon the pun) back into wildlife photography with alacrity. To complement the camera, I got a subscription to Adobe's Photography bundle and have been learning Lightroom in earnest. Your videos have accelerated my learning SO MUCH, and I am very grateful. Please keep making amazing content (videos like this and, of course, your photography), and heartiest congrats on landing the cover of the upcoming Remembering Leopards - it is a truly stunning shot of young Thandi! With best wishes from a big fan, Devin.

    Another great video Mark. I experimented with it on some images that I took in Kruger last month. It was before dawn and I had to push my ISO up to 12800 on my 7dmrkii. It did a fantastic job of cleaning up the noise! Makes me wonder if I'm still going to use DXO Pure Raw? 🤔
