    @lpjmodels - It is with great sadness that I share news of the passing of the amazing designer and model maker Craig Clark, aka. Mousemuffins after his battle with cancer.
    Craig was been an amazing influence on a great many people across all forms of model making from sculpting and casting to painting and design, Craig knew it all and was always happy to share his knowledge and creations. Craig's catalogue of work stretches far beyond his 3d models here and includes things like Golden Demon trophies, Gundams, historical modelling and his laser cut designs at Miniature Scenery. I know he had plans for many more projects in future.
    Unfortunately this all means that no more kits will ever be released for Mousemuffins Designs so please treasure the kits you have.

      Thanks Robert, it's really nice to change it up now and again, I think a lot of people are very much glued to their modelling niche, which I understand, I used to be the same. It’s really exciting to see a full 3D-printed kit of such fantastic quality. We’re probably a ways off from seeing a high-quality 1/48 aircraft or 1/35 tank, but this little kit is an absolute work of art… and you’ve brought it to life with amazing metal and wood effects.

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Bruce ! The detail is there for 1/35 tanks but I think the process of printing is a lot more time consuming for bigger parts, a 1/35 jerrycan standing upright using high detail settings will take 3 hours + to print, you can make a load of em, but they will always take a while. Imaging having to print a 20cm Hull, that would take many hours, unless you reduced the quality ( layer line height). ( this is going off of the build plate size for standard home printers)
      I hope there is tech that helps the speed because it would be crazy cool.

    • @brucethemodelnoob
      @brucethemodelnoob 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lpjmodels agree. I print small detail parts, but as you say the time needed to print larger parts would be prohibitive. From my experience current 3D printers would also struggle smoothly printing the large, flat plates needed for may tanks without obvious layer lines.

    This is really cool! The things they did then is staggering, things few would even consider nowadays. They literally upscaled a barrel, gave some propellers and a screw attached to a barrel of gun powder and they sent it out to sink ships. Know many are surprised there were a few submarines in the revolutionary war, there were torpedoes used to sink civil wars ships later on, many things used today are far older than many realize. Awesome build LPJ, love the selection!

      @@lpjmodels Well, a hot air balloon company built the first submersible that was able to reach the bottom of the mariana trench challenger deep, with the logic of, they could go up, why not down? Wright brothers were bicycle mechanics that built a plane that changed the course of history. Some most important inventions known to man were either accidents caught by a keen eye or a thought of "what if?" and they just built it. Although case of the turtle isn't well known really, but it wasn't the first submarine ever, it was just the first one ever used in combat an also the first American submarine. The earliest submarine plans reach as far back as 1578, but wasn't until 1620 that the first navigable submersible was built and used. Yes I looked a bunch of this up out of curiosity lol. But yeah I wouldn't want be in the turtle either, it's far too small and cramped and I'm way too tall to fit xD. What we couldn't reach we built machines to reach for us.
