Elvis and Roy knew each other of course, and Elvis said " I would trade my voice for Roy's in a New York minute. He has the greatest range of High to low, and his voice is like an angel's. Pretty High praise from a guy with a voice like Elvis had.
From Roy's early career you should check out "In Dreams", "Running Scared" "Crying" "Only The Lonely" and "Dream Baby". And from his 80s revival period "She's A Mystery To Me" "You Got It" "A Love So Beautiful" "Wild Heats Run Out of Time" and "After the Love Has Gone". "A Black and White Night Live" is a must watch also.
His voice is like no other, the absolutely beautiful songwriting and background music and vocals, simple but wonderful, just like the Beatles when they first started out, simple tunes, but great tunes!!!
I can’t hear Roy singing without getting chills. His voice is BEAUTIFUL to put it mildly. If you want to see some amazing live Roy, Any song from the concert called “A black & white night” will amaze you. Many other stars perform on there with him including Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Brown, Elvis Costello, k.d. Lang, Tom Waits & others. They look like they are in awe of Roy. He sings “Mean Woman Blues” on that concert. You can get those songs one at a time also! 🙂 Great reaction!
Bruce Springsteen famously said, when I was young I wanted to write songs like Bob Dylan, but I wanted to sing like roy Orbison. Thanks Shawn, loved your commentary.
Check out Roy doing "Mean Woman Blues" live on Black and White Night. It's great and I haven't seen ANYONE re-act to it yet. You won't be sorry. Really enjoy all of your reactions. Just subscribed too!❤
"Oooooo, well I got a woman mean as she can be..." "Mean Woman Blues" is a solid song! "Candy Man" is good also but I took a look and you didn't do "In Dreams" it seems. That should be the next song as that probably his 2nd most known hit! I love Roy Orbison! Certainly in my top 5!
Thank you, Shawn for another superb choice and equally superb reaction. Grew up with Roy, so I know many of his tumes. You might also like his "In Dreams." Also Linda Ronstadt fan, and love her version as well. BTW, a similar feeling that you get with "Blue Bayou" is a tune by Leon Russel: "Back to the Island." Check it out. Both Leon & Roy are wide and deep songwriters, singers, and musicians..
Of course this is the original version, and I love Roy Orbison! But there's a video version of this song out there from the 80s that feature a little-known gospel singer, Suzanne Cox, and Alison Kraus, who is very popular in country western-folk circles ... and it's just EXQUISITE. If you love Linda's version ... and this version ... you've GOT to hear this little known third version.

Forever been an Orbison and Ronstadt fan...so I'm into hearing either version. Both are great...🎤🎶
There's no voice like Roy's in the rock and roll world.
Roy was so generous that when he heard Linda’s cover, he said “It’s her song now”.
He was correct.
His voice is like no other, the absolutely beautiful songwriting and background music and vocals, simple but wonderful, just like the Beatles when they first started out, simple tunes, but great tunes!!!

I grew up with his music. My favorites: In Dreams, and Pretty Woman.

Glad you subscribed! Shawn is awesome! I love Black & White night too! 😀
Love this version. His voice is so effortless with such a great range.
He had such a big catalogue of music, see the comments below. Songs such as Leah, Crying etc!!!!!
The Essential Roy Orbison is beautiful. Great reaction!
NO other artist can compete with Roy Orbison.
Except maybe Linda Ronstadt, good though this is I think her version is better.
His studio version of Mean Woman Blues sounds great also.

Chillzz ❤
Roy Orbison favorite IN DREAMS
Beautiful song by both 💙 the lyrics.

IT'S OVER is a song by Roy Orbison.

"Simpleness"? You mean "simplicity", Shawn. But we get your drift!
Awesome…Please put Blue Angel…
Roy Orbison every time!
Roy is one of a kind, but Linda's version is so homesick.
I appreciate Linda's voice...but I love Roy.
Roy is an American treasure but I believe Linda made this her song with her beautiful version. Save your hate. It’s just my opinion! 🌺✌️
How can you compare the great female voice/version by Linda and the great male voice/original by Roy. The only difference is that Roy wrote it.
