TTF means True Type Font and is the style used for web display. It is an older font style. OTF means Open Type Font and is the style used for print applications. OTF fonts are more flexible allowing features such as ligatures…
Use a small rectangle at the top and bottom of the O to connect it, called a bridge. You can fill that area in with paint on your project, but this make the stencil all one piece.
I made it right pigs ear of my first stencils the other day so thank you I have ordered 12 x 12 acetate sheets and I am going to have another go ‘exclude’ was a bonus❤
I have learned something new today. Been dealing with a sick child for months so I haven’t used Cricut in a while. Thanks for showing me. I will have some new techniques once I am to get back to crafting
I just learned that today!!! And I'm so excited and happy that it was so easy versus the old way. To be honest, I avoided making stencils with the old way. YAY Cricut!!!
I'm just learning my first CRICUT JOY and hoping to make stencils - knowing it'll be a challenge given the 6" width. Thanks for the great tutorial. It will give me s start!
Krud Kutter works amazing for cleaning up paint from surfaces, brushes -etc. * comes in concentrate form or buy spray on. No scrubbing! I've used for years. Works great on paint brushes too ( cleans paint from brush).
I use stencil glue. I also use a "pokey tool" to help hold sections of a stencil that tend to pop up. I love making signs, mostly small ones. One day I hope to do a front porch tall sign.
I have a variety of different size Rare Earth magnets and a metal sheet that I lay my project on, than pin the stencil in place using the magnets. Different size magnets give you more or less grip on your stencil.
LOVE IT!!!! I totally learned something new and can't wait to put it to use. I really love the idea of using an svg that's already designed as a stencil too. I really like your step by step videos. There are so many out there that point and click, but leave out how and why. You are my go to cricut guru. I just made my first sign with vinyl transfer and then one from a solid sticker from your tutorials. Both turned out amazing. Now, I must get some of that there acetate!! 😁
You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I've had my cricut for a year and I've been afraid to try much. I definitely needed this because I like stencils
I didn’t see a link below for the cricut FB group you mentioned that was in the links. ?? I love making signs but usually order them from Amazon. But I’d like to do some custom ones. Thank you!!
Hi Teddy! Hope the video was helpful. Make sure you take a look at this playlist. It has a lot of videos for beginners th-cam.com/play/PL9SmZ3XpZpDOeYxAQ_1-zp02ZRLVRFR73.html - Agata
I do have a question. If I wanted to make removable sticky stencils (that stick on your project, paint, then can be removed) what kind of sticky should be used?
Hi Lori it is a bit difficult because removing sticky dirty stencils in a way it won't fold on itself can be tricky. I think your best bet will be stencil vinyl but would it be possible to remove it? I am not sure - Agata
Now if Cricut would allow larger sprint sizes. Come on Cricut! Tack it over and over by Aliene’s is great to use for this. It doesn’t leave any residue.
Hi Sara! We apologize for any confusion. We have a 24/7 support staff available if needed that can be reached via chat through our homepage or by email at mail@designbundles.net - Dawn

Loved this tutorial learned something new
Awesome! Thank you!- Agata
To hold the stencil, I use museum gel. Once finished, you can reuse the gel.
What would you do if the stencil you wanted to make were bigger than the 12x12 sheet of acetate?
Did you use the glue dot you said? Can I have the link please, thank you
Thanks, Crystal
Thank you for watching!
Hey, can I use the Cricut Joy to make stencils? Or is the Joy Xtra better?
I want to purchase a machine but can't yet afford the maker
Would these work with screen printing as well?

@DesignBundles it was, once I get settled I'll be able to absorb more info.
❤thank you so much
I use a sheet of laminate put through the laminator to cut stencils frim. Or I use the mat protectors once the mat is useless.
Such a good idea! We might have to try it too! - Agata
Can i use Explore Air 2 for this too?
TOTALLY NEW!!

Does the steps “downloading the font and reloading it” apply to windows laptops as well? I don’t have a mac 🤔
I think the steps might be slightly different but I can't be sure, sorry - Agata

Hi Bridget! Thank you for the feedback! - Dawn

Please slow down.... you talk sooooo fast. Good information. Can't wait to try this.
