My favourite is Route 27. Goes through many nice parts of central
I’d say the 38 is also a great tourist route, used to be one of the most frequent bus routes before the pandemic.
I remember route 38 was the first route to have the N.B.F.L. Borisbus back in late 2012/2013.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton Yes the 38s had eight prototype buses LT1-8. LT1-7 still remain with Arriva London but operate on routes 313 and 349. LT8 was sent to Metroline to help with routes 24 and 390. Nowadays LT8 can be found on route 16, 32 and 189.
Hello @@DoubleDeckerAnton
Please come back
I have taken a small hiatus from TH-cam, but I will return when I am ready.
I have said on previous videos, that there is more to life than TH-cam. The past 13 months have been the most intense work on Londons buses.
I like the 101 it operates from Wanstead to Beckton (used to be Gallions Reach shopping park) it has a very nice section around Wanstead Flats between Wanstead and Manor Park
Yeah the cuts to route 101 & 262 were really unnecessary it’s lucky tfl didn’t cut the 262 all the way back to Beckton too enough residents complained saying that the 366 would not be able to cope on its own
Route 40 was a route I used to ride on when operated by the titans out of Camberwell garage and have many memories of it from London Bridge down to Walworth road
I bet you have some great memories Adrian. It has my favourite route, as it has good headway and passengers are good. It also doesn't get too busy, like other routes can.
Love you 😊
It’s the 73 for me from Stoke Newington to Victoria. It real connects east to west and stops at all the major points in between.
47 Is my Favourite route. It was my childhood
Double Decker Anton where are you!!!! I miss yyou!!!!!
We all do :(
My favourite bus route is the 58 from Walthamstow central to east ham central park.
used to take this route to work, it's quite a nice route
Route 11 was curtailed between Liverpool Street and Westminster and rerouted to Waterloo a few months ago. Route 26 had replaced that section of the Route 11 all the way up to Victoria.
Thanks for your info. I wasnt 💯% sure, as I'd filmed this back in January. 🙂
I'm from the U.S. In 2017, I visited London. I used the buses to sightsee. I picked busses at random to ride, just to see different parts of the city. I met Anton on the 12 Dulwich bus that he was driving. I took that Pimlico bus route...the housing in that area is very 1950s/ early 1960s.
Its nice that you enjoyed London and managed to see me as well. The upper deck of a London bus, has a fantastic view for the lesser price of a cup of coffee.
I went to London and I didnt see you 😔
Hey Anton what is it like being a bus driver cause I've seen you in camberwell green going tesco and i didn't say hi to you.
Do you mostly drive busses in camberwell.
I want to know what busses you drive.
Hi Ahmed. Yes just say hello when you see me. I'm very approachable. I do work out of camberwell yes, since 2012.
I drive 12, 35, 40, 42, 176, 185, 360, SL6. 188 went to another garage, so I will miss that, but I do need to learn route 1 and 355.
From a passenger POV, I'm a couple of stops past the Dulwich terminus, so if the 176/185 is packed, I'll walk down Lordship Lane and pick up the 40. Always get a seat!
Nice video Anton! I'd like to see your top three buses!
Thanks. Il work on doing that video.
My top 3 favourite routes are 5/n5 (Romford Market to Canning)
N9 (Aldwych to Heathrow Airport Terminal 5)
And
SL7 (X26) West Croydon to Heathrow Central
I used to get route 5 back in 2012/2013 from Goodmayes to Barking.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton Route 5 went between canning town and romford market so I don't think it went through Goodmayes but 86 did go through Goodmayes then into romford
I just saw You 😊 it's an amazing person ❤️
It’s?
I think my dream bus ride would be yours as a driver in the Yorkshire dales, Last of The Summer Wine places, mega ! Like the ampstead eef btw !! keep em coming mate
I worked with a driver at K-Line who used to do the Last of the summer wine tours in Holmfirth. Beautiful rural area.
As a passsenger the A10 and 465 are both great routes to ride
glad you enjoy it
My old favourite bus route was the old 15 from Blackwall to Paddington Basin. They pretty much cut the bus in half to Trafalgar Square nowadays. I miss passing through Regent Street and Oxford Street during Christmas. My new favourite is difficult because TFL keep changing it. I probably will say 97 or 34 because I use these buses alot especially 97 since it's my local bus.
I love the 66 from Leytonstone to Romford station
As someone who likes longer routes, the 88 has always been a personal favourite due to the nice areas it travels through end to end. The SL7 (X26) is also nice as it is the longest route in London!
I see that route a lot at Vauxhall. Did they change buses recently with the 87, from Borisbus to enviro hybrids, or was it vice versa..?.🤔
@@DoubleDeckerAnton I'm not sure about switching buses with the 87 but I'm pretty sure the 88 can't use Borisbuses because they are too long to manage the roundabout where the buses turn around at the Parliament Hill Fields terminus.
Yes so I just did a bit of research and apparently the 88 used to use Borisbuses but then was extended to Parliament Hill Fields where the tight turn is and so did swap buses with the 87.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton I think you can drive the 264 (go ahead london)
Hello @@DoubleDeckerAnton
Route 390 for me as goes via Oxford Street Station plus runs from Archway north London to Victoria Via Marble Arch 😊
Bus route 11 got curtailed from waterloo to Fulham Broadway also my favourite bus is every bus in london
Oh I’ve got a 4th favourite which is service 95 that goes from Leven up to St Andrew’s it’s a gorgeous route as services the whole of the East Fife Coastline. My favourite bus was always the Volvo Citybus as they were brilliant buses 🚍 & that air suspension was just epic. Really loved those buses 🚍 & they were great to work on also folks. 👍
My personal 3 favourite bus routes are
1) The 12 from Dulwich to Oxford Circus! Phenomenal West End views and further south along the routes there’s great Caribbean food and fried chicken shops as well as Bagel King! Happy days!
2) SL7 (formerly X26) it serves Croydon which can be a fun place although very run down and it also serves some of my favourite parts of South London including Conservation Areas such as Carshalton, Cheam Broadway & North Cheam and Kingston Old Town as well as other stunning areas like Teddington and it also serves Heathrow and you can also see planes taking off sometimes too!
3) 370 (Romford to Lakeside) fantastic countryside views on there which make for a stunning journey! 372 is just as good!
Finally found another community that actually talks about buses like me! Whoo, OK, here I go.
Favourite daily bus route that I actually take: I would have to say 358 probably (Idk) I favour long routes and it's really useful for going through Crystal Palace, Beckenham, Bromley, even as far as Orpington!
Favourite 24hr bus route: Would have to be...108. It's really unique. It's one of the very few single-decker 24hr routes, very useful for getting from Lewisham into Bow and Stratford (the only bus that does so). Moreover, it uses the Citaro bus model, a model I used to see frequently used on the 227 route before it was replaced by (I don't actually know that bus model's name). Finally, it goes through Blackwall tunnel which I found really really relaxing.
Favourite night bus route: N9 - I haven't taken it but it's the longest night bus route (and bus route in London). That's it really.
Favourite double-decker: 176 - It's a 24hr route and it's bus stops are really in reach. It takes me right into Central London and it's a good bus for sight-seeing
Favourite electric bus route: Hard to choose as I basically like all the electric buses regardless so I'll list all the ones I like with a different bus model for each:
Caetano City Gold - C10, it's long enough to be satisfactory for me. I like how it goes into Central London. P5 and 433 are good mentions but their routes are kind of too short for me.
Alexander Dennis Enviro200EV - Would say either 360 or 450. Could be longer but I like the relaxing part of the routes they take.
Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV - would say 148 maybe? Never taken it but it's a 24hr route and it goes into Central all the way to White City
The 312 bus route - it's too short but makes up for its relaxing scenes and relaxing engine.
Honourable mentions
146 - used to be considering it was one of the rarest routes ever and I would be lucky just to see it. I've only taken it twice in my entire life!
246 - Like 146, rare, but only half as rare, plus it takes you all the way to Chartwell on Sunday.
196 - Long route and goes through so many places - Norwood Junction, Brixton, Vauxhall, Elephant & Castle - so many major places!
407 - Surprisingly not a 24-hr route and is a very long route which I like - Caterham all the way to Sutton - a good 85 minutes!
188 - never taken it but a 24-hr which again has a very long journey - about 88 minutes and goes through major places eg. North Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Elephant & Castle
57 - same reasons as 188 except different places - Kingston, Tooting, Streatham
88 - same reasons as 57 and 188, goes through many places - Stockwell, Vauxhall etc.
Hello DoubleDecker Anton. This Is My First Comment Of My Favourite Route.
My Favourite Bus Route In London Is The 170 Because it Was Part Of My Childhood, I Used To Ride On That Alot When I Was A Kid Back Then.
And I Like The Route 28 as Well Since its Local To Me and Its A Metroline.
Other Routes I Also Like Are, 93, 37, 337, 430, 14, 74, 270, 220, 85, 493, and i enjoyed riding on these alot.
7:02 the building is known to cook cars and other junk
Also because it uses my favourite bus the VDL DB 300/ Gemini2
Was it you I saw in Forest Hill yesterday by the temporary traffic lights?😂
COME BACK ANTON
Yes!!!
He's taking a break
@@dianebutler733 like I couldn’t tell
Hey Anton, I personally think route 42 and 343 are great routes for an Outer View. They both go via the inner Parts of Central London and an Amazing View of Tower Bridge. I definitely recommend this route to tourists.
Nice one I have done a 4 hours and 20 minutes of a bus trip before from Cork to Galway and also I did awhile back was the Galway to Derry about 6 hours nearly on the bus hope you have a good new year 🎉
King
That was a good video
Thankyou 😊
Route W3 is the best route in London during the summer months. FANTASTIC views across London from Alexandra Palace.
The 207 bendy bus
Nice video Anton.
222 is my personal favourite since I grew up with it for 10 years now and I've been used to where the route goes to and I've been taking it lots of times to school, I even gotten far to places e.g Hounslow or places near Heathrow the route even got transferred from RATP to Metroline back in 2017, I was used to it but I prefered it at RATP since it used buses such as the Enviro 400 and Omnicities but I don't mind the Metroline Gemini 3s I even find the route useful and fast between West Drayton and Uxbridge and still take the route to this day. I even have a few favourites outside it such as A10, H91 and SL8 (607)
That's why I like evening drivers, never to the boring places but always far to real places
Great video and you’re definitely a pioneer!!
186 was always the bus i got most growing up, either going in Harrow town centre or over to school in Stanmore.
168 (RIP) Hampstead Heath to Old Kent Road. Lovely route.
Great video as always Anton i like routes 40,185,26 &12 at London. Hope you ok & had a good week x😃😊
Same
saw u today at about 2pm at Wyndham Road, how come u haven't uploaded in quite a while
Route 9 is Aldwych to Hammersmith
Route 24 Hampstead Heath
Route 11 is Fulham to Waterloo Station
Some advice. They cannot refuse you as you are a bus driver. They have to let you into use the toilet. I learnt that in CPC. Hope that helps man
Amazing videos I have more then a few of your videos I hope that when I come down visit London that I get you as my bus driver keep up with the amazing work that you do driving buses
Mine is the 196
My top 3 favourite bus routes: 363 from Elephant & Castle to Crystal Palace, 197 from Peckham bus station to Croydon Town Centre and P13 from New Cross Gate to Streatham Station (despite how long the wait is)
I see all your 3 favourite routes, when I drive in south London. 🤗
my favourite routes are mostly the ones i rode around Croydon as a kid, but i dont like picking out a route as my favourite as there are over 600 bus routes in london its impossible to know every one
hey anton just wanted to say im pretty sure i got on your bus today
Because it goes really fast down the A12
My favourite is route 11 - my legs, lol!! I enjoy walking around
Route 24 was under threat but was saved after a petion, and its good you chose my local route the 24 as the top for sightseeing
❤. Look forward
Hello anton nice one my favourite route are 331 278 u4 X140/SL9 and N140
Nice video Anton, thoroughly enjoy watching your videos keep up the good work! I personally don't have faviroute route as such but i do like the Enviro 400, Enviro 200 and The Wright bodied Gemini 2s.
My favourite bus route is the X17, but that is Sheffield, Chesterfield, Matlock and Wirksworth. No where near London!
Come back we miss yoy
My favourites are probably the 9, 38 and 486
Was in London couple days ago and I like 63 most
Thoughts on the scania omnicity
I actually quite like them, as i drove a single deck version in Leeds/Bradford/Halifax n Huddersfield around 2010/2011. Passenger seats had minimum padding but drivers seat and cab was very nice.
I did film one at North Greenwich about 2 years ago. I need to work on editing that video.
Hi anton cant get used to the changes in buses for example the 26 waterloo hackney wick now starts from victoria
Yes Alan, there has been a lot changes recently, with bus services being cut or reduced services.
My top 3 favourite Bus Route:
149 from Edmonton Green to London Bridge(My childhood route)
11 (Formerly from Liverpool Street) Waterloo to Fulham Broadway
N279 Waltham Cross to Trafalgar Square (one of my local route and the only night bus from herts to central London)
5:36 if they're looking to eventually phase them out Anton, if these are Go Ahead ( judging by the seats as Go North West got some B5TL Evosetis from London) they may send them out to other Go Ahead partners including NW
474 Canning Town Barking Road-Manor Park some parts of the ride goes over the river and get a sight of some planes coming and going the london city airport
366 Beckton Station-Redbridge and 262 Stratford-Gallions Reach Shopping Centre these goes past the DLR Depot
241 Royal wharf silverton (use to be canning town barking road)-Stratford I did like but they've changed routes since last year
Should get yourself down to Orpington and sample the delights of the R5/R10. You wouldn’t believe you were still technically in London as the bus goes through the countryside down VERY narrow hedge lined lanes. Loved my time driving that route, even though it could be a bit dodgy at times with cars coming towards you at 60mph, tractors, HGVs, bin lorries, coaches all trying to squeeze by 😂 hope you’re well mate.
R2 R6 up for scraps
I don't take busses, only rail (because it is quicker and safer as you don't know what kind of bullcrap you find on roads. But the only time i ride a bus if you are driving and I'm on your bus
I’ve got 3 favourite routes which are all in Scotland 🏴. I’ll start of with service 36 which goes from Glenrothes to Perth it’s a beautiful route which Stagecoach operate. Plus another favourite of mine is the service 64 from Glenrothes to St Andrew’s which again serves beautiful countryside. My 3rd favourite is an Express service X59 from Glenrothes to Edinburgh but starts in St Andrew’s. Service 64 is operated by local operator Moffat & Williamson folks. My three favourite routes Anton Pal. 👍
Thanks Ross. Those sound like some lovely scenic routes up in Scotland.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton yep they sure are & they all serve Falkland my home 🏡 village. Only one that doesn’t serve Falkland is service 95 as you have to get that from either Leven or St Andrew’s or point it serves in between Pal. 👍
Amazing ❤
172 is the best
My favourite bus route is the 134
Was a pleasure to drive the route 40. Great Route. Very easy. My personal favourite to have driven is either the 119 or the 403 😊
Where does the route 119 and 403 go?
I dont think ive seek these routes. Are they operating in West London?
@@DoubleDeckerAnton 119 is down South, Croydon Airport to Bromley North. 403 goes from West Croydon to Warlingham. Both with Metrobus out of Croydon Garage at the moment, two very lovely routes 👍
The 119 also has the nice new high-spec E400EV City buses which I'm definitely a massive fan of.
That’s right Anton. This guy knows his stuff! 🙂
Nice video Anton 👍
Top 1 56 it’s on my profile pic second is 97
Trying to plan a trip to Europe just to spend time on the Double Decker busses. I'll wear my Double Decker Anton merch the whole time ♡♡♡♡♡ (No, I'm not a stalker, you just remind me of my son John.)
My favorite bus route is 20 also great video
I've not been on that route yet.
There are so many bus routes in London. It would take ages to travel on them all...😂
40 got the new electric buses now and I’m pretty sure I got on ur bus today the wind rush bus on 35
My favourite route is the 462 Ilford - Limes Farm because its my local
👋 by
Hi Anton, I am from New Cross Garage. I don’t see you on the road nowadays. Are you still driving?
My one is the 241 from Stratford city to Silverton royal wharf
11 goes to Waterloo
4: Archway - Blackfriars
11: Fulham Broadway - Liverpool Street
12: Oxford Circus Station - Dulwich Library
14: Russell Square - Putney Heath
16: Cricklewood Bus Garage - Victoria
24: Hampstead Heath - Pimlico, Grosevnor Road
31: Camden Town - White City Bus Station
45: Elephant & Castle, Newington Causeway - Clapham Park
72: East Acton - Hammersmith Bridge North Side
74: Baker Street Station - Puntey High Street
78: Shoreditch High Street Station - Nunhead, St Mary's Road
242: Homerton University Hospital - Aldgate
349: Ponders End Bus Garage - Stamford Hill, Rookwood Road
521: Waterloo Station - London Bridge Bus Station
C3: Earl's Court, Tesco - Clapham Junction
D7: Poplar, All Saints Church and DLR - Mile End Station
These routes were all under threat last year with all of them saved but 16, 507 and 521 with 332
being rerouted to 16 meaning the orignal 16 is withdrawn
The 349 is duplicated throughout yet they keep that but scrap 16/332
87 Wandsworth to aldwych is top 5 sightseeing bus routes
You kind
Hello Anton
Hi I used to drive London buses in the 80s and I drove the number 11 then it went from Hammersmith Broadway to Liverpool Street station it was I long route in these days taking in all the sites in London the bus route ran out of victoria bus garage bang in central London it was route masters buses back then another long route way done from that garage was route 19 it went from Chelsea to Finsbury park station north London
Hi Anton I used to live in London and I use to ride the route 24 from pimlico to Hampstead heath it was in the 80s and the bus was operated by gray green the start of some routes going tendering
Hey Anton, I wonder if you have seen the 468 (HV290) scrape against the tree infront of King’s College Hospital?
465 most rural, Kingston to Dorking.
11 now goes from Waterloo to Fulham
Because we ❤want knowing train and 3bus route
I would extend the 24 down to Stockwell.
Becasue is it goes very fast down the A12 between Wansted and Romford
May favourite bus route in london is the 201 not because i live near it beacause it was the first bus i rid in london i like the stops / places its a underrated bus route lovley buses and it gose to one of my favourite places mordern so now you know why i like the 201 bus.
My favorite in London is 40,133 & 250 so most of my favs is In South West London 😢
I used to always go on the 40 to go Aldgate but now I have to get the 343 but it goes Tower Bridge Now so I have to get the 40 or 63 to Fleet Street then take 25 to Aldgate😭
I miss the 40 going to Aldgate, it was always my rescue route if I was late for work or hungover from London Bridge.
I don't really have a favourite bus run in London as I didn't actually use the bus when I went to London back in 2005 but I did go on the tube when I was in London
Strangely enough i visited London in early July 2005 for a few days and didnt travel on many buses, but travelled on the tube. I remember.a bendy bus and seeing the actress off 'Keeping up appearances' waiting at a bus stop.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton I can't remember what month in 2005 I went to London but I do remember seeing a bendy bus and I can remember walking over tower bridge and seeing the London eye on the banks of the Thames and I still have the pictures from the trip
