    Hi, Love your videos, short and snappy where you can and then detailed when needed, perfect. I have a 2002 R1150GS and not very good on the spanners but you have given me confidence to so basic plugs, fluids and oil filter ... I am too nervous to attempt the valves or alternator ... I would need to see it done before I tried it ... thanks again, takes a lot of effort to edit and do videos so its much appreciated by many I bet 👏

      Hey there. Thanks a lot for your comment! Made my day 🙂
      You’re right it’s takes a lot of time to film and edit these videos so it’s really great to hear that people appreciate and find them useful🙂
      I’m sure you’ll improve and do more jobs on it in time. They are not hard to work on and great bikes to ride 😁
      Thanks again!
      Vlad

    Thanks, this is a helpful reminder for those of us who only do this job once in a while.
    A couple of points maybe worth mentioning, is to do these valve clearance checks/adjustment when the engine is completely cold (I do it as the first job of the day after it's cooled overnight). Also, while you have the cover off and the feeler gauges out, I adjust the rocker end float too, to keep the top end as quiet as possible!
    Thanks for taking the time and effort to post these videos 👍

      Hey Dom. Thank you for your comment! I had to watch the video again as I was sure I mentioned about those, but it seems I’ve completely missed it. Yes, engine needs to be cold, and I did have a look and there was no need for end play adjustment but would have been nice to mention it.
      Thanks for pointing those out! :)
      All the best!

    Nice explanation and very informative videos. I wanted to ask what kind of spark plugs did you install and which engine oil did you use?

      @garage_tales  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there. Thanks for your comment!
      Oil was probably Castrol Power 1 15w50 and spark plugs NGK BKR7EKC or BKR7EIX (this is a single spark GS).
      Hope that helps :)

    Torque value for the valve lock nuts is 6 foot pounds

    • @garage_tales

      Yep. 6ft-lbs / 8Nm. Same thing.

    When adjusting the valve clearance, what is the torque of the bolts to set them?

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the torque for the adjuster lock nut? It’s 8Nm.

    Hi Garage Tales
    Great videos and I happen to own a 2004 BMW 1150GS!!!
    Are you based around the Reading area by any chance / have a website for your garage or mechanic place that I can book my bike for a checkup?
    Thanks

    About how long does the spark plug socket needs to be?

    • @garage_tales
      @garage_tales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. The one I use is 250mm long from memory, but it doesn’t have to be that long. 150 might be enough.
      Thanks for your comment!
