The T72 is one of the most successful tank designs in history it had so many upgrades and variants and even the T90 can be considered a highly upgraded T72, not only that but it's low profile and rugged design makes it look like a no nonsense war machine. It's such an iconic tank design.
Russian bias. Nothing else.
The only complain is it reserve gear is bad . maybe because soviet doctrine is different other than that a good tank design
@@annguyenlehoang7779 this isn't really the case of "tank doctrine", this is a design choice to simplify, and also create a tank specifically to be a very very low profile design.
just remember, the day T-64 entered service, only the AMX-30 & Leopard 1 have more than one reverse gear, being fast in reverse is a relatively new concept for main battle tanks at the time.
the issue with 1 reverse gear is that this isn't enforced by the soviet higher-ups, it is because this is the largest transmission they can fit without increasing the height of the hull or engine compartment.
u can immediately see this in Chinese ZTZ99A tank, their engine deck is absolutely massive, that's because they put a transmission that have multiple reverse gears, much like Western Tanks, which are generally very tall.
the T-72 tanks was accepted into Soviet service because its fits the criteria, low profile, & cheaper price, which the 2nd option aren't present in the T-64 design.
does this make Soviet T series tanks a bad design? not at all, it works at what its trying to do, low profile, heavily armored, autoloaded, & easy to produce line of tanks.
this is really depends on what do you seek or what a country needs of its tank design, no matter what you do, there will always be flaws or a corner to be cut to fit the requirement as much as it can.

@@black_thunder2159 The fact that western MBTs cant aim at a target behind them because their engine hall is so tall feels like a design flaw. Another point I always think about is that most tank drivers can't see what is behind them unless the tank has a rear view camera so why would you want to go backwards extremely fast anyway.
I remember a video you made a while ago, where you went over small and new TH-camrs, think you could do that again. Would really like to see what new creators have popped up

Amazing tank, has a great lineup around it. I’d give the T-72 an 8/10,
Pros:
- half decent mobility
- good shell
- amazing survivability
- small profile
- has almost no issue when getting up tiered to 10.3 (a semi-frequent occurrence)
- an entire 9.3 (T-64A, Obj 775, 2S25) lineup with 9.0 tanks that can be easily up tiered (T-62-M1 BMP-3)
Cons:
- average Russian cons (no rev gear, poor gun handling, no depression)
If you’re a Russia main though, the cons of the Russian vehicles are something you just get used to.
Fits perfectly in the 9.7 Russian lineup as a backup, starts to fall off in a 10.0 lineup if you get 11.0 games. (Just use the T-72Bs)
only occasionally up to 10.3? is that on american servers?
i gave up playing 9.3. wa sannoyied. started writing down. 30 battles 9.3 21 were against 10.3 6 against 10.0 only 3 lower
Really good reload for the BR as well, every other tank has a crappy 105 with the slow reload
@@thecursed01 i’ve seen a handful of 10.3 but usually I seem to get 9.7-10.0 most frequently, with some 8.7 and every now and then an 8.3. When the 292 was introduced I saw a lot more up tiers to 10.3, but they haven’t been super frequent

Now play it's Chinese counterpart: the ZTZ96 at 9.3. it's basically this but... with 8km/h of reverse so it's already better.
The round is just a little bit more lackluster and less armor
And it gets a WAY better sabot.
It really is fantastic at 9.3. Russias “just under top tier” line ups are probably the most fun.

Yea but its 9.3 so in a downtier you are pretty much almost unkillable if the enemy arent side shotting you or not german
I always carry a few HE with this one, hits hard on light tanks and even MBTs
That crazy ass police camouflage always cracks me up
This, the Moderna, T-80B and T-80BVM and maybe the T-90M are the only tanks that are bearable in top tier brs

I just finished researching this tank and whilst it feels wonderful to use. The constant uptiers to 10.0 sucks.
i really hate playing this vehicle. I'd rather have less armor and pen to have more mobility and to be able to retreat, that's not happening with any russian tank, hence i hate it
About the type16 fps and the xm1 their apfsds M735 was apparently nerfed by accident or something but gaijin doesn't care to fix it
Hit a nuke in this thing earlier with t-64b and bmp-3 very good

3:05 the difference between playing us and russian tanks is that first target doesnt get 1 shotted and hides, then the second guy u killed 1 shots u with the shot u bounced

I rarely get 9.3 games in it, even with just the t72a in a lineup I still get uptiered to 10,3 almost every game.

The T-72A is the only T-72 that I like. Because at 9.3 its flaws are not as noticeable unlike at 10.0 or God forbid 11.3 where other tanks will generally have a larger advantage over you even with the upgrades to the T-72. This is not to mention the flaw of all Russian mbts as in that Good players would never even shoot at your heavily armored places because if you look at the protection analysis for all the Russian mbts and use an average shell like 3BM42 you would notice a pattern...
Also I forgot about the moderna, yeah I love that thing
T80 fuel tank eats entire sabot rounds. Keep talking trash about how it’s a skill issue. Its unfair. Not to mention the fact that armor delays the time for enemies to make an effective response by dozens of milliseconds which is enough for the biased tank to shoot the unbiased armor of the victims.
@@nelsoncheng2674 yeah. It is a skill Issue. I don't have those problems fighting Russia at top tier with other nations. There is no other way of saying it, just shoot better.
Can't really comment on vehicle itself as i only reached 6.7 on russians but it seems pretty good but again you make all tanks look good as you are experient so
It's definitely one of the best 3 9.3 MBTs, but IDK if I'd put it over the Merkava Mk.2 or the Olifant Mk.2. If you don't need to reverse nor aim down, it might be the best.
I am not a huge fan of the t 72 I tend to run into the problem that the real-life tanks have where my turret joins the russian space program.
MFW the 9.3 T72 has a better dart than a 10.3 Abrams
Type 16 uses the same APFSDS as most of the US tanks around this BR that got nerfed, M735, a whole 292 mm of pen for some of the USA MBT and the Type 16/Type 74... Then they get the astounding power of the M775, with 372mm of pen.
what crack are you smoking? it uses the shitty early darts, look at the ricochet angles and performance tapers off massively at >60 degrees (where it actually matters, since most stuff is angled.)
If you think the T-72 is almost OP, just wait until you see the T64B... still going strong!
Ooh boy. t64b, t64a, t72a, 2S25, bmp3, obj 775, Khrizantema-S, Mi-24P, Su-7BKL and not to forget the Strela-10M2 was 9.3 before US mains cried and begged and pleaded with gaijin to move it up. Soviet 9.7 lineup is amazing but the many uptiers are rough
@@maxwellmaragia2272 honestly, i almost exclusively use the T-64B despite having russian top tier and i've never had issues with it. it's a solid platform, even in an uptier, especially if you know how to use it. i've even used it at top tier in the past and it still performs mostly fine.

Yeah, this thing is a reason why I can no longer just pick up T-62-M-1 every time I feel like giving some payback to the T-55-M-1 premium clubbers
The fact that I still use Turms in higher ranking battles means the platform is really something.
I use the Hungarian T-72M1 at top tier and still do decently well
I mean if you are good any tank with stabilizator and apfsds will do good at top tier
I think the t72a and the t72 turms thing get the same shell
@@Barish2 no the Turms has a better round it can carry 3bm42 and the A can only carry 3bm22
funny thing is the east german t72 is a tiny bit better, since its exactly the same except you get the extra hull armour as stock

I bought T-72AV turms after i got the 292 and i love that tank, i also have full 9.3 german lineup with T-72M1 and I love using that one too. Im almost to the tech tree russian ones. The T-72 is the AK of tanks imo. Is it the best, no. Is it the worst, no. It's good enough, yes.
I GUARANTEE if i get this it'll be the same as normal. 2-3 minutes to drive to the fight followed by 'BOOM' dead in one shot followed by a lock out of using the thing for 10 minutes to just repeat!

In my experience 9.3 doesn’t get a lot of downtiers, but it also doesn’t get many uptiers. You usually fight things at your br

FFS...quit apologizing for pushing a spawn. It's how the game was designed, not unlike a MOBA such as SMITE. Unless Gaijin redesigns the game, the weird whiny players be damned. It is what it is until it's changed.
The only scumbags are the spawn rushers who only do it to get a kill or 2 and die, then leave the game. But even that is just a game design issue with some bad player sprinkled on top.
Edit: And let's be honest...about the only way to kill enemy SPAA is in the spawn...they never move!

This vehicle at 9.3 has 425mm of pen with a 125mm meanwhile an Abrams has a 105mm at 10.3 with like 372mm pen. Well done gaijin on balancing your game.

My chief complaint with the Abrams is the penetration with the vehicle. Whereas you have 9.3s running around with better guns such at the T72. @@zer0asanumber
all Russian Tanks and Soviet tanks should get a huge nerf in the game. They are not reliable they are cheap and frankly Ukraine have shown that.
So the T series should just get nerfed...
Notice how whenever War Thunder release an update, theres always stats or parts improvements for Russia & German tanks in top tier but never anything good or improvements for the US tanks. I really hate the bias in this game.
Abrams has been buffed like 5 times in the past 12 months and the winrates are still abyssmal. They have a better toptier mbt than France or Italy but worse stats. At this point it's just the players.
@juxtapixel7619 Total BFS.. Its just a Russian German biased game as Russia & Germany have been buffed sky high. Even if the devs reluctantly make one small improvement on the US tanks they'll make 10+ improvements for Russia
What buffs exactly? You can't even name anything except Spall Liner which only T-90m and some Leopard 2s got. It doesn't matter how much stuff gets buffed if the players can't make use of it though. Like I said Abrams are better than Leclercs in War Thunder but has worse winrates because US mains suck@@deant6627
ehh i dissagree, with my experiance in it its the worst russian top tier MBT.
Lets see, it has by far the best armour and survivability at 9.3 and also the best firepower plus okay mobility, same can be said for the t64b. Only downside is reverse speed and gun handling. Not near the worst lmao. The worst Russian mbt are the t72b3 and all t90s because nothing can balance out the horrible reverse speed at that high br.

meanwhile the 2s25 has mango and has some of the best mobility in the entire tree at the same battlerating

it was scary to have them add the third russian 10.0 line up premium giving russia straight perfect 10.0 grind lineup makes it awkward i thought they moved their base of operation to Hungary i see the bias is still popping its head up everywhere late late in 2024 should russia re visit afghanistan before it thinks it is a country like japan or germany thinking they are better than everyone else lets not forget about afghanistan russia....please it is time to nerf your abilities
