That's so untrue. May be true for low skilled people, but not for professionals. Everyone, including CEOs, depend on networking for opportunities. Nobody is ever settled in life, unless they are in some dead end job or govt. jobs. Everyone is on LinkedIn and networking throughout their career. The biggest advantage of going to IITs and similar institutes is not placement or the quality of education, it is the opportunity to network with best talents. Networking is so important, you need to get friends who actually have a career.

Iam a btech mechanical graduate 2018 from pondicherry university.
By the time already understood that engineering is not my cup of tea. From 2018 itself i started to prepare for non technical govt jobs. From upsc to 10th level kerala psc i started to prepare....
I missed rrb je between the cup and the lip in 2019.
After that corona days😢😢. No exams, no coaching centres. life was a big question mark.
By the end of 2020, i cleared kas prelims which boosted my confidence to some extent.
2021 onwards i began to be listed in various kpsc exams. But still, the changed pattern and new 2 level exam pattern further delayed our results amidst the corona crisis.
By 2022 end i got appoinment as ldc. And yet i didnt stop. I
Continued my preparation eventhough i got hectic schedule. Finally in 2023 july i got appointed as udc by clearing the exam conducted by puducherry govt.
So its all about perseverance and hard work rather than luck

This is the exact same thing happened to me. The mechanical part, corona, All the exams u mentioned je, kas, ldc , other psc everything happened in my life as u said, only one difference is that i was finally selected in railways.😅

The point is our education system or the so called degree isn’t sufficient to get into industry. The conventional method is saturated. Set an ambition, learn basics from TH-cam and take up some courses which gives you practical skills then hunting a job is a piece of cake.
