    The thing I like about it is that it's really not all that loud.

      Bobby Diminnie damn it Bobby! I've purchased an M998 and a couple MEP-803a generators from the planet website but haven't seen anything like this for sale... Guess I'll have to search Craigslist more often. Lol

      IBLEWUP1 ive only seen one once on govliquidation.com sold for 2500 running condition unknown
      Got this for 1300 but it was doa needed a ecu i got off ebay for 200 works good but the otput contactor needs to rebuilt or replaced found one of those on ebay for 50. Ordered parts to try to repair old ecu had a bad m.o.v. and diode from what looks like the caps dried out and shorted out.

      IBLEWUP1 the main reason i got another ecu in instead of just fixing it cause the m.o.v. and diide where so badly burned i couldn't read the part number and good luck finding a ecu repair manual

      Bobby Diminnie luckily you found one on eBay. How much HP is the turbine engine rated for? I would just want one for the engine to turn into a project.

    I could be wrong, but from reading the panel, it looks like it produces dc voltage for starting aircraft ....

    Awesome.
    Jealous.
    I have two MEP-701As that take care of my power needs, but had been looking for a gas turbine for another project. Would love to put one in a small car. Can you imagine the turbine-powered Batmobile meets Karmann Ghia? ;^)

      I can and i have. We are converting a cushman into a hybrid. Going to keep the 24v gen on the generator and remove the gas engine and install a turbine jet 24v starter up to the trans instead. So itll still have gears and a clutch. The turboline will be stripped down to its primary sound suppression case. Instruments put inside, fuel tank removed, axle removed and put on the back like it was always supposed to be there.

      @@electromechanicalstuff2602 I have two VW bugs being converted to electric. I've put a 75VDC motor in one already, bolted to the existing trans, though I shouldn't need to shift except for reverse. Just need to finish stuffing the rest of the electrics into her. Using battery banks salvaged from a wrecked Ford C-Max. Bug number two will get a more powerful AC motor, when I get to it, with funds raised from selling bug number one.

    Is a turbine better as a normal diesel or petrolengine? Why is this so?

    • @electromechanicalstuff2602
      @electromechanicalstuff2602  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Turbine is More fuel efficient only under full load. Other wise diesel is most effiecient under partial loads. Turbine is very durable for longevity. Diesel is second and gasoline is last in all catagories

    Any advice for a new Mep 362 owner? Types of gear oil/lubricant to use? Run on diesel?

    • @electromechanicalstuff2602
      @electromechanicalstuff2602  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all great name. I also am a Bob D........ second kerosene is the fuel to burn diesel will cause ash build up on the turbine over time

      And also I too "was" involved with aviation. I am an A&P but work on R&D automotive EV heat pump and industrial test chamber controls panel repair

    • @rdavit

      electromechanical stuff thank you! This is my first step into anything turbine related.......A&P is a knowledge set I wish I had (when it comes to anything moving at 50,000 RPM).....I’ll take it slowly. Is the gear oil an aviation oil, like Aeroshell 500?

      electromechanical stuff Thank you Bob! I picked up some 500.....likely both will work well (I’m in a colder climate....a lower viscosity will help). Mep arrives Sunday, I’ll report back.

    Judging from the size of the alternator, this thing makes more noise than juice! What power is that rated? 50kw, 100kw?

      @@electromechanicalstuff2602 But must be fun to use. You can get 12volts in the center of the winding I guess? How much fuel does it drink? Looks a bit like an aircraft APU.
