Glad to see Glen happy. We supported him (The Infidels) in Lincoln UK and he seemed quite sad.
He was supposed to playing with his band The Philistines, but according to the promoter Steve he was suffering from tinnitus. Some of the crowd booed him for playing solo on Acoustic Guitar. I thought he carried it off very well. He also signed my Sons Fender Precision Bass which was nice of him, we still have it.
I remember also that a fight broke out in the crowd at one point, but we (lots of cops in our entourage) took it outside and I just remember Glen coming out of his dressing room and saying what's going on and I just said don't worry it's just handbags 🙂

Really good interview, giving Glen time and space to recall his life, not stifling his train of thought. A London geezer, witness and participant in the punk scene, in cool L.A, with so many stories to tell.

Nice that Freddie Laker's Skytrain airline got a mention... they were very much Punk themselves.... introduced the DIY attitude that shook up the complacent established airlines until they got together and shut them down. Same with the old pirate radio stations.... avoided the restrictive government broadcasting rules of the time.

Really good interview....Glen Matlock is such a cool dude. Saw him playing with Blondie in Belfast recently. Just read his book "Triggers" which is a really good read.

The Rich Kids first and third 45's are really great, today they would be lumped into the 'pop-punk' sub-genre.
    Check them out!

Glen is just as important to Pistols/punk history as John Steve Paul or Malcolm.

Yeah, he wrote most of the songs so quite important. No coincidence that the band collapsed after he left.

@@electricleg207 John was terribly unkind to Glen. I always liked him, he is a decent bloke. Interesting to listen to Robert Plant talk to Steve Jones about Lydon. He couldn't figure out why Lydon slithered like a snake in front of him at some party in 77. Plant was ready to kick him in the head but decided against it. Lydon, just came across as a real pratt in those days.

Has anybody else heard the john peel session , Jimmy Nortons Explosion ? Glen Matlock bass vocals , Danny Kustow formerly of Tom Robinson Band on guitar , and Budgie of Siouxsie and the banshees on drums. Only thing they ever did i think. I recorded it from the radio on the night it was broadcast. Absolutley amazing, ive still got that recording. Danny Kustow still my favourite guitar player ❤

I saw the Pink Fairies with Gong at the old Kensington town hall around 1973 Twink was a hippy then and was the Pink Fairies drummer, he later remodelled himself into a punk and fronted a punk band as a singer called the Rings, it made me laugh seeing this dope smoking hippy turned overnight into a sneering angry punk the wrong side over 30. I've seen Glen many many times over the years the best being the Rich Kids at Dingwalls in Camden Town London and have got loads of pictures of him on stage with his various bands

Looking back now the pre-punk musical influences were more obvious and people were more open about it.
Don't take that as a punk insult or otherwise, it was a mere observance nothing else.
