I've been testing the new VIOFO A119 Mini 2 for the past several weeks. This video contains some of the daytime and nighttime video footage that I've gathered from this dash camera. If you want to see a demonstration of the new "voice commands" for the A119 Mini 2 dash camera, check out this video th-cam.com/video/wlxvgbRVCCI/w-d-xo.html
Good comparison The 119 Mini 2 has much better colour and definition than the competition. I don't put much weight on capturing plates. You would have to have a much more advanced camera to read plates at speed, with a much more advanced price tag.
In this footage it looks like the a119 mini looks better than the mini 2. You can see a lot more detail in the trees in the mini than the mini 2. I have had the a119 v3 for a few years now and still going good but I thought I might upgrade to the mini 2 with the upgraded sensor and thought would have a better picture but I think I'm gonna stick to my a119 v3 for now. The night time footage is better than the other camera's tho.
Remember the Mini 2 is new in the market. Maybe with future firmware updates the performance will be much better. I've ordered the A119v3 yesterday and im thinking about to switch to the Mini 2 because of the newer sensor. A comparison between them would be great.
@@LasseSamstroem47 yeah please let me know how you go with both. Only downside with the V3 and mini2 is it's only a 1 channel. If I upgrade, it will be to a 2 channel so that leaves the mini2 out anyways and I'm not buying 2 mini2 LOL
Thx for the video :) . Is it possible to make a comparsion between "A119 Mini 2" and "A139 Pro" ? I know it's a bit unfair because of different resolutions but would be awesome to see
The A119 Mini 2 runs cooler than the previous generation A119 Mini. I haven't had enough "hot summer" days yet to know for sure, but it seems to be dealing better with the heat.
@@RetroCarGuy530 Can you keep us updated on how it handles heat? My current dash cam (garmin mini 2) has started to overheat as the weather gets warmer and I want to avoid this issue with my next purchase!
I will try to keep the A119 Mini 2 in my car as much as possible this summer. So far, the weather where I live has been exceptionally cool for this time of year.
This past Tuesday, I drove my car to a town about 60 miles away. During the early afternoon, my car was parked with direct sunlight on the front windshield / dash cameras. The passenger compartment reached 124F according to a digital thermometer (not in direct sunlight). The VIOFO A119 Mini 2 and A139 Pro continued recording in low bitrate parking mode. The BlackVue DR900X-2CH Plus dash camera shut itself down due to a high temperature event. The new Thinkware U3000 2-channel dash camera also placed itself in energy saving parking mode due to the Smart Parking Mode feature sensing a high heat condition.
It depends on how well the HDR implementation is implemented. Using HDR during daylight hours may result in video looking strange (colors are off). You may also see a ghosting of certain objects due to the use of the dual frame capture for each video frame. It's nice that the A119 Mini and the A119 Mini 2 provide a HDR timer feature which allows you to set a schedule to turn the HDR feature on/off.
When the A139 Pro was first released with the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 it seemed VIOFO was hoping to use Clear HDR. So far, the A139 Pro and the A119 Mini 2 are still using DOL-HDR. Recently on the DashCamTalk website VIOFO stated: "We thought there is some disadvantage of clear HDR for night recording, maybe not suitable for dashcams." I'm not sure what this means for the possibility of getting a VIOFO dash camera with a Clear HDR implementation.

Yo Robert,
Very nice.
You've leveled up your editing skills.
I like the split screen, and transitions.

I don't own an A119 V3 and VIOFO (so far) has not been interested in sending me one to test/compare with the A119 Mini series.

I will try to make a video like that. I have several dash camera tests/reviews going on all fighting for space on my car's windshield. 😀
@@RetroCarGuy530 😂 thank you
what are you using for resolution? my night time mini 2 shows severe glare with any light in the picture
I use 2560x1440 30 fps resolution setting. Make sure the firmware is updated to the latest publicly available firmware version. V1.0_20231116
Does it still have overheating problem? (Its important because i live in Jakarta)
