Sorry to hear about your dog passing. I never lost a pet that was my own, but I was there when my mother's pet rabbit had some serious health issues before dying. Vet visits, syringe feeding, keeping track of the body temperature. I remember looking around myself a few times even up to a year later to see if the rabbit was there. It's a hard change even if it's not someone's own pet just happens to live in the same home. I did start a specific 100 heads challenge a few years ago (2020-ish), when many people were doing the same pinterest board that was made by a creator specifically for this reason. I don't remember who made it in the first place. I did maybe around 60 of them, with about 30 minutes to 1 hour each, all in grayscale. I did see myself improve a lot. I do like how you did a thing differently with turning them into something better than just a simple piece with adding your extra colors, particles, and custom frames around them. I really rarely do dedicated studies anymore, especially digitally, I sometimes implement them into a project, like I recently started making a traditional study series with graphite of an American Horror Story character I painted and drew a few times already named Madison Montgomery. She appeared in 20 episodes total across 2 seasons and I aim to make a study from each episode, trying to use the most iconic moments. I'm weak at capturing someone's likeness properly without overworking the piece and it started as an exercise to draw the same person in different moods and light situations. I think I only did 4 so far, but I still have them and I want to finish that series.
I'm so sorry for your loss too. It is so surreal when you realise how your muscle memory is used to having them around. Ooh 60 heads is so impressive though, well done on sticking to it! I hope you do pick the challenge back up, and it is definitely very encouraging to hear that it actually helps you improve!
These look so good! You nailed it :) and sorry about your dog ❤️🩹

Once again I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. The death of a beloved pet is always devastating. But I'm also glad to see you going on.
Thank you. It is absolutely the worst feeling i've ever felt, but art is helping 🩷
