True, but also who are you tryna please by not saying no outright? I’m a gay dude, woken up 3 times with a coworkers hand down my pants. I should’ve said NO aggressively to his face.
But at the same time, he knew I wasn’t interested, so who knows. But I’m speaking from my perspective, ASSERT YOURSELF DUDE. These men ain’t Shit. If anything it weeds out the bad ones. We have to own some of this, to take our power back. Or else we have no say in the narrative. Who wants that?
Edit: was different coworkers, didn’t get assaulted by the same one each time lol, promise I’m not that slow.

I had an incredibly similar experience to her and I had no idea what to do about it, how to work through it, how to move forward. I blamed myself for not fighting harder. I was so scared, he was my friend. It took me years to tell anyone, including my lovely therapist, what happened because of how much I blamed myself.

Seeing the defence of Melanie made my decision to not come forward with my story feel more justified; I thought no one would believe me anyway, and they would spout the same victim-blaming sentiments toward me as they did Timothy. Since then (inspired by the me too movement) I have told many people in my life and in doing so inspired my grandmother to come forward with her story after 50 years of silence. I grew a bit out of her music a few months before and I didn’t really like how she was handling her prices and talking to some of her fans so months ago I distanced myself from her and her fandom especially.
A few years ago I looked at all these allegations and I admit, I HEAVILY defended her on social media because EVERYTHING I saw had evidence that Melanie was innocent, but now that everything’s resurfaced and the more stuff comes out I find a lot of it can be debunked and fake but I swear a lot of this stuff is hard to find, I can’t tell what is actually true so I have not technically taken a side yet but I stopped supporting Melanie a while before, I don’t really like Timothy either because the stuff she’s also allegedly done has rubbed me the wrong way so it sounds terrible but I’ve avoided them both. But if she actually did get SA’ed, melanies “fans” are horrendous for justifying it and also apparently have hacked her account to make her look bad??? The fandoms so fucking insufferable as someone who despite only being a fan of hers for a few years, has been deep into the fandom in the past and jeez I’d love to tell you all some stories. I feel very lost because I had looked up to Melanie in the past but there’s something I realized and to younger fans you all HAVE to realize for yourselves.
Melanie is playing a character, you love her for CRYBABY and her image which at least back then is not MELANIE, you “fans” including me at one point which I’m still coming down from as if it’s a literal addiction, have a very bad parasocial relationship with her, but at one point you’re going to realize that Melanie’s another millionaire. She has said before how “she’s human like all of us” but she has like what 400 dollars for a meet and greet?? You could argue it’s for funding her movie but even if that were an excuse there’s plenty of ways someone like her could handle it.
I love and have an attachment to her music because It’s been a part of my life and while I might not listen/return to it like I used to, it’s a memory forever. I love the character she plays and I know a lot have said this but it really did make me open my eyes up to certain topics and realize my own childhood trauma, I am in a different place now where I don’t necessarily rely on it but I’ll get it in my head and listen to the instrumentals/stems, but I don’t think I’ll ever stream or give her money again. But aside from having nostalgic ties/attachment to her music, I don’t care about her herself. The hold she has on her young fans and the fact that there’s more weird stuff she’s apparently done, it really sucks because even if these allegations are fake I don’t think I can ever praise her for the person she is again, we don’t know her personally either and that’s a reason we should stop celebrity worship in general, a lot of the fans harassing people online are children too and it makes me sad. I send love to to all victims out there 💗

@@19Carmelita92 Yes! This!! Like I tried to stay neutral and observe at first, because I always want to believe victims, but I had also had my life recently wrecked by my best friend making false allegations, so I was painfully aware that some women really will lie about that for their own gain, unfortunately.
But having that experience myself just made Melanie's follow up that much more suspicious to me after a while. She subtly enouraged the harrassment with her second statement, and I don't think she was oblivious either. If I learned that kind of thing was happening to my ex-friend and her family, even after what she did to me, I would NEVER be okay with it. I would tell my fans to back the hell off so fast!
She clearly knows how her fans can get, and that calling them out is the right thing to do, because she did it for her ex, Oliver Tree not long ago.
Piggyback wasn't even the only thinly-veiled diss track. She said herself that she wrote Copycat around the same time as Piggyback, while she was in a dark place. I think it's interesting that she released it shortly after Timothy tried to come back from her first two year hiatus.
None of it sits right with me, and even her initial statements read like lying through omission. I wanted her to be better, but I'm not going to delude myself for a millionaire I never met just because I liked her art.

  • @leilag6230

Personally, I believe in growth and change. If Melanie did something, she needs to take accountability, grow up from this, and face whatever consequences that come. If Timothy is lying, she needs to seek therapy, grow up and leave her alone. If the accusations are true, we can’t turn a blind eye to it. As a Crybaby, I will always love her voice, music, and aesthetic but she seriously needs to take accountability if it’s true. I also don’t support any fans calling Timothy horrible names, doxxing her, or hacking her account. Melanie’s brand taught us to be loving, empathetic, understanding, and respectful, not spreading hateful rhetoric and violence. If it is true, I hope that she apologizes, takes a step back from the spotlight, gets therapy and moves on to becoming a better person. Others might not agree with me and that’s completely valid and understandable as a person who has been SA’d before and maybe I’m just too nice and forgiving. Timothy deserves better than this and so do we as fans of creators
EDIT: One more thing to add. To the toxic Crybabies, who still like the music and art, stop invalidating other’s feelings about what happened to them. You weren’t there, I wasn’t there, no matter how much you love Melanie, you didn’t see what happened. To the toxic Timothy fans, stop being hypocrites and spreading hate and 🍇 threats to people who either still support Melanie or are staying neutral on the topic. To toxic creeps, stop saying that you’d gladly accept being 🍇-ed by Melanie (yes that is something I keep hearing). You don’t know what it’s like to be in that vulnerable position where you’re being violated by someone who you thought you could trust and love. Stop it. It’s gross and disgusting and you need to seek therapy.

Keisha 5:10 you are perfectly right in thinking that the choice of words “she didn’t say no” is completely wrong.
As a multiple SA victim myself. The victim doesn’t HAVE to say the words “no”. In my experience the first time I don’t actually recall saying “no”. I recall just freezing not being able to say anything anymore. the second encounter it was more vocabulary like “stop” and “please” more so pleading with the person.
And I have also done lots of reading and a victims body language, state of mind and other factors can come into play when a person does not want to do something.
And again in my experience (not from SA) but being victim I can see some flaws with people mindsets. And most people still believe that if a person doesn’t say the exact word “no” then it doesn’t classify it as SA. and I for one and OVER IT.
So yeah Keisha you are completely correct in thinking that those choice of words are a little suspicious and they could have worded it like “she was willing to” “she didn’t show any signs” “she made it clear to me”

Neutral on this. Not happy with the way it's being handled.
    - "She never said no [...]" but did she say yes?
If you're asking Melanie, yes. She claims she would "never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent", and that they "chose to do [this] together." That quote directly addresses Timothy's claim that she "said no multiple times" and it only sounds bad without the context of Timothy's statement. Although this implies a verbal "no", Timothy's own statement might even contradict her claim, saying she was silent, or that she said no in multiple WAYS, e.g. excuses or body language. If that is true and Timothy never said no verbally, Melanie could have missed the body language entirely, and read the excuses as a "not now" rather than a "no" on the previous couple nights. Obviously this doesn't mean Timothy consented but it's clear Melanie was under that impression. They were also both high which would make logical thinking harder in that situation.
If you're asking Timothy if she said yes... maybe. it's not specified because the question is not about whether she consented initially, it's about whether she revoked it.
    - "But why didn't Melanie just say 'she said yes'"?
Because that's irrelevant. If she doesn't dispute the claim that timothy "said no multiple times" then having a "yes" doesn't matter because consent can be revoked. "CHOSE to do together" already implies initial consent.
    - "Timothy was exposed for lying"
Not exactly. She never admitted to lying, the screenshot of her saying that is fake.
    - "Melanie admitted to it"
Also no. She acknowledged that something happened between them but she claims (and obviously believes) everything was consensual.
    - "Timothy lied about the date"
As irresponsible it might've been to include a date when it wasn't confirmed, and it wasn't necessary for the accusation, this doesn't make her a liar. They WERE intimate with each other, the question is about consent.
    - "I believe Timothy because why would she lie about something like this?"
I understand this sentiment, but there are better reasons to believe Timothy.
This comment feels like it turns a blind eye to most false accusations. The two stopped being friends, for one, and there are screenshots of Timothy commenting on Melanie's fame. People use the statistic that a very small proportion of SA allegations turn out to be false - but we miss that this is a statistic on REPORTED SA. Timothy is not a part of that percentage because she did not report it. A much larger proportion of false accusations ruin lives because they spread in communities despite never being reported.
    - "Why would Timothy come back if she was lying"
or "Why is she bringing it up again"
Her coming back doesn't prove anything because she didn't feed the situation. She just gave an update on her life and talked about the harassment she faced. This situation was exposed in 2017, happened in 2015 when Melanie was 19 and Timothy was 22.
Arguably the harassment would have gotten worse if she didn't stick with her story so it doesn't prove how truthful she is.
    - "Timothy should have taken this to court/police"
Many other comments explain why she wouldn't have done this. She doesn't have evidence, that's one thing, but also she might not have wanted to do that to Melanie at the time.
    - "Melanie is being silent"
This did happen in 2017 and she did make a response, although it wss obviously muffled and a bit poorly worded, but this isn't news. She's not obligated to respond again to an audience that wasn't involved, although I would personally like to see her clear up what she meant in her statement. Not because I don't know what she meant, it's just not obvious to everyone.
    - "Melanie is a 🍇ist"
honestly even in the worst case scenario we can't say this. It's so clear that she thought the intimacy was mutual, given what I said about:
    - giving excuses, which might read as a "not yet" or "not now" and not necessarily as a "no".
    - they already had an intimate relationship
    - the sex game
    - weed
all of this muddying the waters a little. She did not force Timothy into anything and the reasons above also lead me to believe it was not coercion either. You could call this SA but 🍇 is a stretch.
    - "I'll support her even if she's proven to be a 🍇ist" "She would never" etc.
Obviously mostly kids saying this because that's messed up. If you MUST listen to a proven 🍇ist then please do it indirectly in a way that doesn't financially support them. Also, you are the audience, don't pretend you know your idols.
    - "Timothy's statement sounds like what happened to me which is why I believe her."
Pretty much exactly the same thing happened to me, and as much as I was angry at myself for not revoking consent, I don't blame my ex because he was obviously convinced I was consenting. I never showed discomfort and I agreed pretty enthusiastically. I don't think victims have to be BLAMED to acknowledge that miscommunication leads to uncomfortable situations. I don't blame myself anymore, nor do I blame him. We both know better now. To me it seems like Melanie and Timothy viewed that night differently and never knew of the others view until the allegations came out.
    - "Always believe victims"
It's "always listen to victims". You are absolutely allowed to be neutral in situations like this where nobody knows what happened but the two of them. Support the victim, but don't go spreading accusations with no weight to them like they're fact.
I will not "support" Timothy because she's a bit of a terrible person, reasons unrelated to this situation, but I do sympathise with her. Even if she was lying about what happened, I wouldn't block out whatever she has to say.
    - "Timothy stuck with her story and there are inconsistencies in Melanie's story"
Timothy definitely didn't stick with a singular story. Inconsistencies are to be expected anyway from a victim as that is a trauma response, but Timothy does miss some details that change the nature of that night completely in her original statement. If you see her interviews after reading her statement they don't quite align.
    - "But Melanie took back what she said"
Melanie thanking her fans for pointing out inconsistencies is not her denying anything happened, just being thankful they're not blindly believing a story that was inaccurate. Especially since parts of it were straight up wrong, and other parts of it misconstrued Melanie's intentions. False accusations are very serious.
    - "Piggyback was a disstrack"
Response, vent, whatever it was, it was not a disstrack. It's weird to call it that.
    - "Timothy accused other celebrities of SA"
not that I know of, she just said things that didn't quite go down well with them, although i have heard she accused someone else who wasn't a celebrity.
    - "Victims aren't perfect, the things she did don't mean she couldn't have gotten SA'd"
This is 100% true. That being said, I think it's often being used in response to people who question her reliability, because if someone has a history of lying, that has to be taken into consideration.
If you've seen Timothy's twitter and tiktok, you can form your own opinion, but the way she talks about the situation feels off to a lot of people.
BUT we should always still listen to victims and look into their stories. Known liars could be telling the truth (an unfortunate boy who cried wolf situation) and seemingly honest people can lie, even unintentionally if they are influenced to do so. The idea is to hold the 🍇ist accountable and keep the victim safe, and help them heal. Remind victims it's not their fault. Hell, even if you're like me and being a doormat gets you where you are now. It's still not the victim's fault.
There's a lot more but I'll have to add to this later.
HARASSMENT AND DOXXING ARE NOT HOW WE DEAL WITH THIS.

y'all can attack me for this, idgaf. all of this is coming from a former fan of melanie martinez.
it's always "she got the dates wrong!!" melanie quite literally said that it happened herself. "she's a bad person!!" that doesn't matter at all. the majority of the things she supposedly did were made up by melanie fans and even if they were true, it doesn't mean she wasn't sexually assaulted. "sarah morgan exposed her!!" she isn't even a real person. "she dressed up as melanie!!" many victims stay friends with their abusers after it happens. some even stay dating or are forced to live with them. timothy explained that she was still friends with melanie at the time and was on tour with her when the pictures were taken.
(update: i found out that those pictures were taken before the allegations even came out.)
"she promoted her music after making the accusations!!" she released her song months before. "she didn't go to the police or court!!" what would the police be able to do without evidence? the legal system treats sexual assault cases horribly, especially when it's women on women. most sa cases don't have any evidence. and if timothy really is lying, why hasn't melanie sued her for defamation? "timothy bought the game!!" yeah, as a joke. she never consented to having actual sex. "melanie was in the handcuffs!!" ever heard of this thing that happens in games called taking turns? "melanie made songs about how rape is bad!!" hypocrisy is a thing that exists. "she's only speaking up now that melanie is more popular!!" no, she's speaking up now because she was ran off the internet. even if that were the case, why shouldn't she? her story deserves more recognition and support. not to mention there's this globelamp person who wasn't even actually friends with timothy and is an abuser herself.
several friends of mine were sexually assaulted, you gonna tell them that they're lying too? they can't remember the dates or when it happened so i guess that means they're clearly lying. you're all just a bunch of victim blamers. it's very common for people who have been traumatized to not remember dates.
and what about madeleine carina? y'all love to forget that she exists and that she was also sa'd. and before you bring up the whole "she said it was consensual!!" thing: if you have to be begged over and over again while you're intoxicated until you finally give in to having sex, then it's not consent, it's coercion, which is still a form of sexual assault. melanie also never even bothered to address what she said.
another thing: why would timothy come back after years of harassment, being doxxed and getting sent death threats if all she wanted was "attention"? why would she put herself through all of that again if that were the case? she isn't gaining any "fame" from this, she's just receiving the same thing she did 7 years ago: being harassed by melanie's fanbase and getting called a "liar".
everyone also just loves to ignore the fact that melanie changed her story. first she said that she did something with timothy and then backtracked on it when she thanked her fans for pointing out her "false" statements. did it happen or not? melanie's first statement is also horrendous. "she never said no" is abuser language. the full sentence does not matter because it doesn't change anything. if it isn't a definitive and enthusiastic yes, then it's a no, period. it's always "believe the victim!!" until it's timothy and madeleine.

at first I sided with Melanie because of all the holes in Timothy's story. but years later, I'm starting to question my stance for many reasons. My main reason is the fact that Melanie let her *FANS* do the detective work and applauded them for picking apart Tim's story instead of making an actual statement. I was really hoping this time around that we would get more than a poorly worded tweet and a diss track. she has yet to say *anything* and that right there is why I'm starting to question everything. like...wouldn't she at least want to clear her name? she won't even really give her side of the story an is *blatantly* ignoring her fans asking her to speak out but remains active on her instagram stories...there's no way she aint seeing the comments and turned the option to send her a direct message through stories...she ain't saying *ANYTHING* which to me says everything...I'm disappointed. Her overpriced perfumes and merch and hiding behind her teen fanbase ain't gonna work forever. as a survivor myself, and also someone with BPD like Timothy, I'm hurt. sure *we* as her fans aren't "owed" anything but...we made her famous. at the very least, she should make this a legal issue if she's telling the truth. Honestly both of them should considering how serious this is. Tim made this an internet issue, so I would think going to the police would be nothing compared to what she's gotten online. so if She's telling the truth, she should have Melanie imprisoned or at least fined and if Melanie is telling the truth, she should sue for deformation of character. this shouldn't be an internet issue, it should be a *LEGAL ONE*

Ive grown up a lot in the past 7 years. I believe timothy. I think what happened was melanie coerced her into sex based on all the statements. I feel awful for timothy. I do think some of her early statements were untrue, whether intentional or not, but it is easy to get dates wrong when you've been traumatized.
I don't think melanie's intention was SA. I don’t think she was aware that she was coercing Timothy and I think she truly believes there was consent. But i wish she would speak out about the situation, take the mature route, and apologize to Timothy. Her statement was absolutely atrocious and needs to be amended.
K-12 is an important album to me, it got me through some tough times, but I'm no longer delusional enough to back her with my full support. I haven't listened to anything past k-12 and hardly listen to her anymore.
I hope that someday Melanie will apologize.

All that said I do still think Timothy's account of the sex game is strange. It was a dice game meaning it was up to chance what the dice rolled so there is no way to just do funny rolls or serious rolls because what you roll is random.

same !! both sides aren't making sense at all, and then nobody is providing actual evidence. Melanie states that they both agreed on what they both CHOOSE to do together, and then apparently, they were under the influence when it happened? (this is NOT me defending Melanie btw, even if you're under the influence that does not give you the right nor the excuse of being a creep) And then, she went on TIkTok years later to talk about it again instead of just privately suing Melanie or something. Nobody is making an actual statement, and then this was just so random and out of the blue. Why talk about this now ? Why bring it to public now ? If Melanie did indeed do the allegations being accused, then hell yeah Melanie should be held accountable and suffer the consequences of being a creep. Just a weird situation. is was just so random and out of the blue.

I believe victims. I believe Timothy. I find it disturbing that the internet fully supports “believe victims” but that falls flat when the alleged perpetrator is a woman. Also, your fav doesn’t know you exist. Why is publicly defending them more important than accepting that your fav may be an awful person?

I feel like Melanie knows what she did wrong. She's just ignoring it because she doesn't NEED to acknowledge the situation. She still has a huge fandom, she will still be rich, she doesn't loose anything from this besides loosing some sane people who used to be her fans.

Let's make some things clear, for 7 years Tim has lied about the dates. Proof on my channel Tim knew the right dates the whole time.
Second. Mel clearly communicated she wanted to have seggs.
Tim bought them a seggs game.
Tim told us she said no for 2 nights straight and made it clear she was uncomfortable. How? When Tim saw the game, tim pointed it out and said they should get it. Then went back to mels house and performed love actions on her. Idk about you, but I'd take that as clear communication she IS interested.

I like Melanie's music, I am a fan but I never put my head on a block for any celebrity & neither should anyone else🙅🏾‍♀️! We DON'T know these people personally, we just know their craft/talent. The thing about Mel that really bothers me aside from these allegations is that she never was abused in childhood and yet found a way to capitalize on these aspects of trauma she never experienced. As someone who actually was heavily abused in childhood I find it insulting and disrespectful. So when you said that she’s writing from her experience, I wanna inform you that no, she was not. She was playing a character. She grew up with loving parents. She’s never been through a lot of what she’s claimed to have been through.
