G.R.L was created by the same woman who created the Pussycat Dolls. They disbanded after releasing only 3 songs due to the suicide of one of their members. The song included in this video was a big hit in Europe and Australia.
It's a shame that Girls Aloud and Sugababes never made a significant impact in America, as their discography is excellent and pretty much redefined the girlband concept in the post-bubblegum TRL pop era.
Hmm - sorry but for me doing one of the top since 1990 is a bit pointless...a lot of the greatest and most iconic were around and for a long time way before 1990. And even ones that were still going into the 1990's e.g Bananarama well they started out least whole decade before if not even 78/79 roughly enjoying many hits over all those years. So yeah just since 1990 - really missing a huge chunk that built the foundations of how successful a girl group could be.
Congratz on getting all top 3 correct.
They completely forgot about SWV... =(
Amazing how many of those tracks were from British groups, more than half I think

The peak era of the girl group was the 90s/2000s though so makes sense to start it from there.
