The movie who truly made me love cinema. I'm 28 years old now and I've watched a lot of movies during my life, but this one (just some months ago) really triggered some deeper understanding of what cinema's actually able to convey. Thanks, Tarkovsky.
@Peter Kelner the book is outstanding ... there are two films and none of them acceptable to me... i don't think it is possible to make a film out of it. just my opinion
When that clap of thunder hits in the last piece coming off of the Ovchinnikov... I don't think a sound effect has ever shaken me to my core like that.
A great, great film. Requires patience and several viewings. It is worth the effort. I've watched it 3 times by myself and have convinced several others to watch it. To a person they were completely perplexed by the film. I told each to watch it again. It requires careful observation and demands reflection. If you're looking for simple answers, this is not the film to watch. It's the questions that matter here. A Russian friend told me that she was almost overwhelmed with emotion the first time she watched it. She said it is - for her - the quintessential Russian film. "You will make bells and I will paint icons."
Track 13 includes the main theme of Ivan's Childhood, Tarkovsky's first feature film in which actor Nikolay Burlyaev plays the leading role. He in this film portrays Boriska. An amusing connection.
+Carlos Rivera Fernandez I thought exactly the same before I saw more of Tarkovsky's films ;) No comparison to anyone. Quoting Bergman: “Tarkovsky for me is the greatest, the one who invented a new language, true to the nature of film, as it captures life as a reflection, life as a dream.”
+yogstfu Yeah you can definitely tell just by the music how metaphysical and expressive his films are. Instead of motion pictures, they're like motion paintings, you know what I mean?
It is a disgrace that our era does not recognize Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov's music: not one CD is available, not one reissue of the Melodiya recordings! Not one new recording of his 4 symphonies! It seems we must be grateful for these TH-cam offerings: thank you "KIRKAD12" for your efforts!
From Primal to the Spiritual, the OST seems to interpret the journey of humanity from dim, chaotic inception to ignoble end like tolling of a bell decaying into absolute silence, to be delivered and exalted in the Providence's inscrutable grandeur.
🏃♀️❤🖤❤Que orgullo internacional...Tarkovsky aún seguimos vivos y creando y escribiendo...Somos los mejores artista y escritores y cineastas del mundo .Urra urra urra.
A great soundtrack for one of the top films ever made. I don't like the idea of selecting pieces from the classical repertoire as Tarkovski did so many times - let alone cutting them abruptly as he did so many times ☹
Every species on this planet vibrate differently, think of natural sounds(like dogs barking, snakes hissing, birds whistling) Now play the second song and enter a neutral point of view, OBSERVE it as a human, sound form of expression. An ancient song that caries with it all the beauty and suffering of its condition
This only movie worts more than all the american hollybollywoodian movies of the XX century. American directors seem totally dumb if compared to Tarkovski who is one of the greatest genious of cinema along with Visconti, Kurosawa, Herzog, Chaplin, Bergman and few more…

@Verb plural begome
Just watched recently. Even having seen Solaris and Stalker, I was very impressed with the film.

@@fsbagent711 have U seen City Lights?
Tarkovsky's masterpiece is solaris & the stalker
One of the greatest original soundtracks to a movie ever. It badly needs more recognition!
Track 15 has to be the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever listened to
One of the few truly great films of Mankind - all is in the film - from art to love to jealousy to death to war - it is all there - all intertwined.
Well put.
When that clap of thunder hits in the last piece coming off of the Ovchinnikov... I don't think a sound effect has ever shaken me to my core like that.
Had the utter pleasure to see this in a new HD restoration in the cinema. Absolutely incredible film, all-encompassing.
new restoration??? where at yo
on criterion the picture was pretty dim a lot of the time
Jack Cranfield It's a BFI thing I believe so you'd have to get an import.

I agree with you. This film has been provoked the same effect on me since the first time I saw it.
I wept and I prayed after the first time I watched this.
Every film by Tarkovsky requires careful observation, reflection and aren't simple to understand. That's what makes them so remarkable!
Indeed. My favorite film artist is Tarkovsky.
It will be tough to top The Mirror, for me. Andrei Rublev was good too though, just finished it. I'll have to watch it again.

This film rewards repeat viewings. The production quality is so good that it could have been made yesterday
Я лишь про этот фильм, про эту музыку могу сказать что это гениально, ничего выше в кино нет
Remains my most favourite film ever.
Track 13 includes the main theme of Ivan's Childhood, Tarkovsky's first feature film in which actor Nikolay Burlyaev plays the leading role. He in this film portrays Boriska. An amusing connection.
you will cry. so much
Track 5 gives me goosebumps.
Genius Andrei Tarkovsky always knew to choose the ideal compositors for his Chef d'oeuvres art cinema 👌
Track 5 gave me chills. Great scene, great music!
+Zaid Thanoon ''Swim, Marfa!'' Poor women and poor pagans.
I came here to find the music from the scene! It's indescribable
Came here to find that EXACT track after watching the film. Perfectly haunting.
love you for uploading the soundtrack
Incredible score - to a great great magnificent film
Thank you so much for posting this!
Colonna sonora stupenda per un film visionario e profetico, come il suo autore. Grazie.
Thanks for posting this. Extraordinary music.
Keith Parker It's my uncle's music )) i'm one very proud niece.
It's a tremendous fusion of classical and Orthodox liturgical music.
A cinematic masterpiece, with a wonderful score to match.
This Wonderful Soundtrack Is So Avant Garde
Track four is so damn haunting! I haven't seen this film, but I really want to now because of this soundtrack.
+Carlos Rivera Fernandez Excellent film. Tarkovsky is the greatest filmmaker ever. Will watch it again soon.
+Scotia Bushcraft I'd argue Kubrick atm but hey, everyone has their opinions. I do respect Tarkovsky a lot though.

+Carlos Rivera Fernandez Exactly, at times it feels more like looking at Bruegel's paintings while trying to interpret them than watching a "movie" :)
57:00 the close-up of the Father's coat in Rublev's Trinity icon. The brush strokes emit humanly impossible light and energy.
One of best movies of all the times!
Best film of all times :)

crazy! the ost is not released anywhere..really?
Impressive and solemn. Track 4 give me goosebumps every time
Imho, one of the greatest films...
The last 30 seconds get me every time.
track 10 = masterpiece, long live the grand duke!
Очень густо... без речи, без тишины
From Primal to the Spiritual, the OST seems to interpret the journey of humanity from dim, chaotic inception to ignoble end like tolling of a bell decaying into absolute silence, to be delivered and exalted in the Providence's inscrutable grandeur.
Saw this in the cinema for the first time a few days ago...Revelatory cinema of the most magnificent

Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov (1936-2019)
1936 not 1932
Masterpiece
Beautiful. Just want to point out the image displayed during track 15 is not from Andrei Rublev, but is a still from Marketa Lazarova.
Гениальная музыка. Только и всего.
yooo
A man of genius who spent his life being disturbed by worthless grocers.
14:00 This track is my favourite, but 31:55, 34:15, 40:25 and 52:40 are great as well!
Absolute masterpiece
Ovchinnikov is a absolutely giant!!!
Track 2
Mesmerizing
great movie
Track 1 is underrated
Очень, очень талантлив во всех трёх ипостасях! Но чего-то не хватило, чтоб стать мировой величиной
A great soundtrack for one of the top films ever made. I don't like the idea of selecting pieces from the classical repertoire as Tarkovski did so many times - let alone cutting them abruptly as he did so many times ☹

Тарковский визионер . Он сам не ведает , что творит...
