Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

“Adrian Monk wanted to sleep with you?”
Linda overplayed her hand.
She played herself. Even though she would’ve got exposed within a few minutes anyway.
She did…bad move on her part. She had no idea what BS she was spewing. Had that been anyone but Monk she was speaking about, perhaps that would have been a good hand to play but Monk? nooooo!

She thought Monk lived in reality. lol 😂
She overplayed her hand, proving she was duplicitous all along
Ted Levine is such a great actor, the subtleties he manages to convey in his acting are on full display in Monk, entirely underused actor if you ask me.
I love how he portrays Stottlemeyer here, Linda tells him a lie about Monk trying to coerce her into sleeping with him via the threat of a framejob and despite Stottlemeyer being incredibly angry at Monk and deeply in love with Linda, Levine does such a great job of showing that Stottlemeyer's trust in Linda is slowly crumbling. The moment Monk shows up on screen, he's no longer angry and he's very slowly coming to terms with the truth. The moment Linda accused Monk of something Leland knows Monk would never do, he's on his way to accept that Monk was right.
And of course, when the truth is revealed, you really feel Stottlemeyer's pain and devastation through Levine's acting.
This was a great episode, probably top 10 of the series. Poor Stottlemeyer got his heart broken and that hurt.

This "girlfriend" tried to pin the blame on Monk, but fortunately, she failed to do so.
Even if she didn’t go too far with it, the evidence was overwhelming.
S’what I love about watching these with like-minded people:
We can all pinpoint- with a collective wince- the ‘oh, honey, no…’ moment.
How evil and devious for her to trick everyone, thinking that she had a real house like that. Lol, she really thought she outsmarted Monk, wrong!! I don't think she wanted to sleep with Monk, it was a trap!

She accused Monk of sexual harassment. How dumb is she? Monk is pretty famous now and yet she didn't know about his preferences of keeping things tidy and not being touched? They honestly shouldn't of put that line in. It literally makes no sense and would of worked without it.
I think it was good because not only did she not know anything about Leland’s best friend but she clearly didn’t pay attention to his extreme OCD.
Also, Leland knows that Monk would NEVER NEVER sleep with another woman. Even though she’s gone, Leland knows Monk would see it as cheating on Trudy.

So many layers of "Monk would never"...
1. He can barely get any interest for another woman because of his love for Trudy.
2. If he did...he would never, EVER threaten or blackmail a woman for anything like that.
3. He would never go after his friend's women.
4. He would never do anything that wouldn't uphold justice.
Lady was out of her dang mind. 🙃

When she said “Is it so hard to believe?”, you could see how badly Stottlemeyer wanted to say “Yes, it is.”!

Linda’s big mistake was making Monk come off as a flirtatious pervert making advances towards her. Leland KNEW that was impossible because he would never do such a thing. Hellooooo! They’ve known each other for years lol She blew this herself…
Plus the fact he loved Trudy so much he never even took off his wedding ring even after she died so he wouldn’t forget her
Monk remains loyal to Trudy, Leland believed his girlfriend instead of his old friend..
Thankfully, he realized his mistake.

It’s a look of heartbreak and complete defeat and humiliation. He knew that Monk was right and that killed him inside because he wanted him to be wrong so bad. I prefer TK anyways, she’s much sweeter and better in personality.

Captain Stottlemeyer woke up from a dream when she told him what Monk did😂
You can see when the trucks door opens the Captain is staring straight ahead in a daze. He's even swaying a bit probably in shock. He realized Monk was right and his heart shattered.

But no closure for Natalie, her husband is said to be MIA/KIA after his plane crashed but the crewmen said he survivded and ran away leaving the men behind. The writers just couldn't care less haha I guess they didn't want to ruin Julie's character life.
I'm sure he's had a few happy endings with Linda...

Despite it’s always hard to see Captain sad when they arrest Linda it’s still one of my favorite episode because of this scene 4:55 It’s always so fascinating how Monk get her with that little detail.

Monk said it was towed. Once he was certain he solved the case, he would do a search for trucks. If one isn't near her home, or the house of the murder, he'd keep checking. An impound lot wouldn't be his first choice, but would become logical eventually.

This show ignores a lot of the police technical stuff. If you want to enjoy it truly just give it a pass.
Fun fact: they do not have to read you your rights at arrest, only before questioning/investigation. And it’s standard for the prosecuting attorney and/or head detective to read them to you before questioning you. Police only do it because that’s what a lot of them see in movies and shows. Funny enough I was the only one who knew this in one of my prelaw classes.
