Melody seems to be really down to earth, scrappy, and very intelligent. Not just an inspiration to women. Another great interview with key takeaways.

$500 a month would be ideal for a space to run my business. But listening in on the conversation i have to add my two cents. Pop up shops would be a great idea but you'll only attract certain people that aren't dedicated clients. The great thing about styleseat is it is helping me build my business and my brand by getting dedicated clients that hopefully would avoid pop ups or chain salons. I pay $1000 a month to rent my space and i believe the sola salons (in this area) are about $250-$300 a week. On demand is also a great idea but it's harder to work in a space that isn't meant to be worked in, if that makes sense. For example, washing someones hair, making sure i bring every tool i need, or extra colour, and so on. I would literally have to pack an entire salon for those "just in case" moments and still have to figure out where the hair washing scenario would play out.

57:57 Yeah it doesn't happen to guy (unless your Ashton Kutcher) but I think that a woman like her knows when a VC wants a serious meeting or are undercover date. But I also think that a woman like her can also have advantages when scheduling a meeting with a important person, an angel investor or a VC partner, cause it happens. Sometimes guys tempt to be nicer to good looking woman than to man.

"a woman like her knows when a VC wants a serious meeting or are undercover date" Not really true at all. Many people have covert intentions . . .

never go to supercuts, or the like. no, no, no. very ratchet. the customers, not the stylists.
