I agree. It does not suck. I bought this in red and replaced heads almost immediately. Love it. I've wanted Vistalite since 1976. But this is a nice affordable compromise.
This is the second review I’ve seen where the player 1. Tuned the kit! 2. Had chops 3. Mic’d it up right. I think this thing sounds great! I’m all about the middle of the road kits. Slap a superkick II and some clear evans on there. Good to go! So cool to see some decent looking lugs on it too. If they do a coke bottle green kit, I’m in.
I like the sound for sure.. not sure it rivals wood but after all at the end of the day it is a personal preference. Thanks for putting together the review.
Acrylics are a totally different animal. They’re so loud! Be prepared for that if you don’t plan to play louder/heavier music. I have a vented spaun acrylics snare and I couldn’t even play it in our jam room. It totally overwhelmed the room/mix. I have to play on it for a day or so to get used to lightening up on just the snare shots.
I love your drum covers so much I swear I rewatch them every single day it made me get back into listening to slipknot again just wanna say you're awesome man.
Its pretty cool to see that donner is moving away from edrums. Im not sure if this is their first acoustic kit or not but ive never seen them make acoustic kits
I agree! They have made a few in the past, but nothing that I would deem higher quality than a beginner set. I reviewed their starter kit and a birch set on my channel.
Could be wrong my friend but I think you can order it from them and they will ship it to you to the UK. If I'm wrong please excuse me but I thought that's what they said on their site so check them out and see and although it didn't show them on their website in a pretty blue that I saw someone do a review on on TH-cam and it wasn't this gentleman but this guy plays his ass off and he's really good :-) anyway they make it in a clear and a red I know for sure and I don't know if they just don't have the blue listed because it's out of stock or what but check them out cuz yes that is a good price.
That Kick sounds better than most high end kicks WTF, blew me away. Its like any gear or mixing technique. Its all about the low end because that's where all the problem lies in all musical frequencies. If you got a good low end sound the rest is cake. I always loved Pearl kicks no wonder they're known for their exception Bass drum sound. I also like acrylic kits but DW, which also make amazing Kick drums, their acrylic kit sounds very boxy. It seems like they just made one to have in their category, but it appears most other acrylic manufacturers sound better. DW is top of the line no question there, but I think concerning their acrylic kit, you're just paying for the name there
Hate to break it to you, but one central company manufactures most acrylic shells now adays. I know a builder at a reputable drum company who has confirmed they just receive and mount hardware. Plus this is the cheapest possible acrylic entry point so not sure why you think they have to go lower? Lol
I believe so, I sold this kit to a friend and he mentioned some cracks in the snare, due to over tightening. Thankfully the company will be handling his issue.
@@FernandoLemusDrums that’s a bummer. I’ve always wondered that too. You said all of your bearing edges were good? I saw another review where they looked like a beaver chewed them in certain spots. Nbd for me. I’ll just run them through the router table, but others don’t have that ability. Hoping to see more videos of these to see if your experience is more typical.
@@JamesSClapperton This kit was in better shape but did have some rough spots, I recently got the red version of this kit and its WAYYY worse bearing edge wide. Like you said nbd to me but something to consider when buying.
So got the the same set. Its better to get a Pearl Crystal Beat or Crush. Much smarter choice and I regret it now. 1.) ALL the heads on this set are junk. Super heavy thick heads on tiny little aluminum rings that are half the size of real drumhead rings...2.) The drum hoops are super thin and light 1.5mm compared to your avererage drumset hoops at 2.3mm. So if you do rim shots on the snare... you'll ruin it. I replaced the top and bottom snare hoops only. I'll have to suffer a little with the tom hoops. 3.) The bearing edges were a total joke from razor sharp to like 3 mm wide with divots on the top of the rim here and there. A drumhead will not rest flush and true on about 3 of the 10 bearing edges. A nightmare to tune! I had to file mine down and still bad. 4.) The lugs and drum sizes are not standard. 5.) You can't get ANY replacement parts for these kits, so if something breaks, you will have to custom order or re-drill shell. 6.) The company only makes these 5 drums, so you can't add on another bass drum or an 8" tom or a 20" bass or another floor Tom size etc. etc. 7.) huge jump from a 12x8" tom to a huge 16"x16" tom...weird. 8.) The tom suspension hoops are very bouncy and have little hard plastic tighteners that come loose and rattle and buzz all the time instead of soft noise free rubber mounts. I had to buy new suspension hoops. 9.) Customer Service is the basically none. Someone will answer the phone and talk to you, but they will not help you out in any way whatsoever. I asked if they could sell me some spare parts and they said NO. I asked if a could purchase a separate drum to add on and they said NO! 10.) no option for double bass set obviously...11.) Hi-Hat stand is no good for a double pedal... won't work. The tripod is huge. Anyways there you have it. So, I am just trying to save somebody from having the same regrets as me. I would WAY rather have got a Pearl Crystal Beat so I can add on any and every size drum I want from 6"-26". Also, I would have got much better hardware and bearing edges... decent stock heads to play on right out of the gate. Stronger set with beefy drum hoops. Customer service with a respectable reputation. Parts forever... I can go on and on... Don't be fooled by how cool something looks in a picture. Also, Donner knew this guy was going to review their kit so of course they payed attention to details like the bearing edges. Yours will suck and I am positive about that.

It's a shame that Donner discontinued this

Personally i like the sound bro, that kit looks pretty cool to me. Nice review btw
i have Ruby red Acrylic shellpack no branded for about 1000,- Euro,s with Remo heads. sounds good with a lot of punch🤘🏼😎

Blast beat!@!!oh hell yeah bud!!.drums sound really good, you play well, and anyone kicking out a blast then a funky beat is ok with me.
This is really cool! Wish I could get this in the U.K. Great price.

Great review & solid drumming
Amazing Value!!
nice sounding kit ...would have been interesting to hear this kit raw or maybe with just one mic ..
Seamless shells?
Yes. At least on the red shell kits. I don’t see why the clear would be different.
Like your videos man! You make some quality content
Ima go buy one the donner acrylic kits. They're cheap as 700 dollars.

I've been wanting to start drumming for a while and options like these are starting to make it harder to keep making excuses.
En tout cas, le résultat sonne bien sorti de mes petites Eris E 3.5
Interesting! Second person I've heard that the Acrylic shells all come from the same place. I can't find who makes them on the web, does any one know?
China
RCI Starlight
Yea and your friend with the dw kit paid 3 or 4 times more for it
Super nice playing.
Is it seamless?
Thats not true, the Acrylic Shells dont all come from the same manufacturer, Donner couldn't sell them at that price, they are made in China .

What are the depth of the drum shells?
Bass Drum: 22" x 18"
Mounted Tom: 12" x 8"
Mounted Tom: 10" x 7"
Mounted Snare: 14" x 5.5"
Floor Drum: 16" x 14"

Be mindful of those lugs they are prone to fail.
Those can be replaced, not too difficult
How is that?

Can’t even hear the kit
did you try turning your speakers on?
