Hey Marty, so good to see you again! I figured you were busy with the new venture. Please follow your dream. I know a lot of people are really behind you. Myself included. Keep plugging and you will get the elusive tarpon or the silver king!!!!!! C Ya.
yes, and shrimp in later summer when they come in to spawn. Just make up a 50/50 mix of red clay and fish meal. Press them into a patty, let them dry out in the sun. Toss them out 12 feet off the dock. Turn on the lights, then just throw a shrimp net over the patties every 15 minutes...Free shrimp! Use a 1/2 por 3/8 inch mesh net.
Another great vid, my friend. Did we hear a Lady's voice at 4:15..."you got him"? Making friends and fishing...too much fun! Another great day in America.
Lovely video...love the double screen touch with you commentating and fishing going on behind...great job. Love those Tarpon too...your gonna get one soon old buddy and its going to be HUGE !!!!!!!!!!!
I've watched every video you've put out Marty and although there's been a lot of changes over the years one thing remains the same, at the end of every video I sigh and three words pop into my head.. Livin' the dream. Only six more years until I pay off my mortgage and then I'm following suit. Inspirational stuff man!
I've had just about the same kind of tarpon experience in Matlacha recently. Jumped 4 had another one on for a couple of minutes and have yet to touch one! One of these days I'm going to hold a tarpon, kiss it on the snout and get a picture. Nice to see ya out fishing Marty.
I didn't know there were gar in salt water! Plenty of them in the lakes and rivers in TN. Big ones are a blast to catch, and then try to release with your fingers still intact! Another great video as always. Tight lines!
Ive learned alot from you and you have great motivation, also if you go out with people that have alot of skill that helps also, your awesome , such a good person and really smart and posotive person
It looks like your Sebile Stick Shad may have some bent out and rusted/dull hooks on it. Salt water can be very rough on our gear as you well know. I would recommend getting a stainless steel set of split ring pliers, a hook file, some extra SS split rings and some salt water hooks. Keep your hooks sharp and strait or replace them if need be. Love your videos, hope to someday get on the water with you! Good luck!
Tarpon are a big heavy fish with an extremely hard mouth. Don't be afraid to pull hard enough to rip the lips off a regular fish on the hookset when you're tarpon fishing. Also don't be afraid to double hookset a.k.a making a second quick jerk after the initial hooket just to be sure the hook is actually seated. Look forward to seeing you land one Marty!
That fish jumping at the corner of the boat was cool. I liked it love your vids and if you did not know madder if you touch leader on a tarpon it counts in a fishing tounaments so in my books it counts nice catch
Bro, nice tarp., I've been following you since the time you sold your house and living on your nice boat...love your dogs man!Keep up the good work on your videos! Can't wait for the next vid from you...Tight lines never stop.
hey zoff, great vis as usual! I haven't checked the comment section so maybe somebody has already suggested this as possible advice for landing a Tarpon (or maybe you've caught one by now)! But maybe instead of using treble hooks, you could switch it up to having two single hooks on your lure instead. I've never tried it myself, but a lot of people I've spoken to say they land way more fish on lures when using a single hook instead of a treble. Try it if you like and see if it changes your chances with setting the hook more efficiently on your strike with these slippery Tarpon. Keep up the good work man, i always learn something from your videos.
Zoe my bro glad to see ur updating like u used to getting baxk on the water and chasing the fish really happy to see u checking out the fish around ur dock maybe u could start chumming them with dog food luv ur vids
They sure are a challenge. Just gotta be persistent and get a system in place. Won't be long. Hint: Loosen your drag to almost nothing. Palm the spool to set the hook. Play them with the loose drag and that will eliminate the pulling of the hooks when they are thrashing. Plus, it will force you to play them out and not rush it. Takes away the exactness of bowing each jump as those small ones are thrashers. Don't tell anyone.
Great vid Marty. Two things. Invest in a Thermacell mosquito repeller(not a word) works great. For the lures try VMC in line hooks. Model-ILS 2/0. You may need a smaller size. Place the hooks so the point is facing to the rear of the bait. Tight lines!
Great video as always! Those small twitchbaits like the Mirrodine and Sebile are great for getting bit by tarpon by the hookup/landing ratio is extremely low. As long as you are having fun, it doesn't matter! For live bait, you want a small circle hook with a cutting point like the mustad ssw...Great hook. I have much better luck using light jigheads rigged to small paddletail swimbait or a Zman Trout Trick. Hogy makes a jighead especially made for tarpon called the barbarian, it has a special sickle shape that keeps them hooked up better. I'd also love to see you throw a fly at those fish, that's one of the best and most entertaining ways to catch them...Tight lines!
Hey Marty, I'm getting a kayak soon and I live in gibsonton near where u used to live, me and my dad go fishing from Williams park into the bay and it would be cool to meet up one day and go, I'm getting my lisence next week so when I get my kayak I can drive, it will be a fun and cool experience
I feel so bad thst fish got off, i think you an amazing person and have such restraint when losing a fish please dont let it get you down. I was really upset when you lost thst tarpon cuz i remeber when you lost that other fish, but in actuallity you didnt lose it , you still got him and have the footage to prove it. Also im no pro , you know alot more then me but alot of bass fishermen out there rod tip down practically in the water when a fish jumps. You will get a great one soon, personality wise your my fav on you tube!!!
Hang in there Marty. Back in the day when it used to be a official weigh in station, Giants had a saying about the Silver King.(Many have tried,Many have Died)
I feel your pain, I've had a few frustrating fishless sessions lately, it just made catching one even better 👍 Those things look and act a lot like Australian Salmon, so much fun to catch, so powerful.
Hey this is Derek with under water fish light. The tarpon are a blast to catch. Try a DOA bait buster Jig style sliver or brown. Work it on the bottom realling as slow as you can. Its my go to bait for big snook and tarpon. DOA terror eye are another go to for me try gold in that color water.
Hey Marty, when it rains and you cant do any fishing, cut a hole just big enough for a sheepshead in the hull of the boat! then it will feel like you are ice fishing! you get the best of Ice Fishing up north and inshore fishing down south!
Seen You Met My bud Thomas Farlow From Southern Outdoors Fishing Hes A TH-camr As Wel!!l At Icast!! Great Video Once Again Bud!! Many thanks and Tight Lines!!
An easy way to increase your chances of landing those tarpon is to use mono instead of braid main line. The stretch of mono really makes a difference with tarpon
For the mosquitoes research Thermacell device. Works in deep Georgia swamp woods hunting . A remarkable product. Use it at home grilling in the evening. I grew up in Fla wished we had it then.
Dang Marty...so freaking close! How are you keep your composure after each of those strikes and jumps I have no idea. I would've been throwing a temper tantrum like none have ever seen. I can't wait for Zofinger's Outfitters to open so I can have a try at those silver kings and course donate my share of blood to the Mosquito population. Great video. Keep doing what you're doing. Your pal, Fidel
I love those curious times I encounter while fishing when I feel like a kid again...wanting to explore a bit more, try something else, keep going into the wee hours. I hope I never become a fishing "expert" because half of the joy of fishing is the mystery and anticipation of a new species of fish, a fresh discovery, or finding a new fishin' hole.
That needle fish looked a lot like a gar. If you catch a big one, they're good to eat. They have back straps with no bones, but nothing to filet off of the sides.
Someone probably already commented but I've always been told to keep the tip of my pole down when bringing in a tarpon. Not sure if it's true, but the charter captains always say to me "keep it down".
Hey Marty, Give youself the best gift in the world and get yourself some Lavender, Mexican Marigolds, Citronella, and Catnip plants. Place them in various areas on your boat and around your dock/yard. I promise you will find it difficult to even locate a mosquito or gnat afterwards.
awww man i was geting so excited 4 u man iv yet to land 1 myself too and super bumbed but it will make the one u finaly get all the more sweet im sure also no net i know iv seen a net in ur other videos but i have a buddy who will purposely forget his net bc he sweres he hooks up on biger fish when he dont have it then when he does so maybe he is on to something me i love my net it my 1st tought when i hear my drag scream is where iz my net
Awesome video Marty! In my book, that tarpon was a catch 😊 Can you please give us more information on that lure you were using? Going down to Marco in Oct., and hope to try for some tarpon and snook.
nice ones man, dont worry you will land lots of em. i lose largemouth bass the same way. usually when they arent that big and i dont let them take drag and keep tension on when they jump.. when i get bigger ones i let them always take drag before i even try to bring them in or else they jump fast. though i lost a hog from a long cast instant hit and as im setting hook instant jump and hook goes 20 yards away from fish...if i think its a big one though ill try my best not to let it jump and try to bow if it does.. its so cool though to see them jump ect but ya too easy to lose em. that little bait might work good here stripers and largemouth love the shad at the upper lake here. the one you got is in natural shiner? sinking right? nice vid gl out there.
Hey Marty, so good to see you again! I figured you were busy with the new venture. Please follow your dream. I know a lot of people are really behind you. Myself included. Keep plugging and you will get the elusive tarpon or the silver king!!!!!! C Ya.
hey Marty you should consider buying some underwater snook lights for your dock. I bet you could catch lots if fish there at night if you do
yes, and shrimp in later summer when they come in to spawn.
Fishing from your new dock... new business... your boat behind you... and your old life paddles buy in the background. Love your fishing vids!
You got a leader touch on the tarpon so it counts as catching it congrats! Tarpon are my favorite fish to catch
Another great vid, my friend. Did we hear a Lady's voice at 4:15..."you got him"?
Making friends and fishing...too much fun! Another great day in America.

WOW, that lightning flash at 14:01 looked awesome. Great video as always. Just can't believe how far you've come. Really happy for you my friend.
I've had just about the same kind of tarpon experience in Matlacha recently. Jumped 4 had another one on for a couple of minutes and have yet to touch one! One of these days I'm going to hold a tarpon, kiss it on the snout and get a picture. Nice to see ya out fishing Marty.

Dana Morrow once u are so far back into the bay it's more brackish water
Hey Marty the best part of tarpon fishing is the bite...... everything after that is just fun and chaos and then fun again whoopie!!!
Marty you are living the dream brother! Keep the great content coming!!
Ifs it a zoffinger video I give it a thumbs up before even watching it
I also watch the ad... well at least 30 seconds. :)
Ben you do realize watching the whole ad doesn't give him anymore money right ? Just wastes your time 😂
Will Gantt actually that's where the money come from...if you skip the advertising right away there is no revenue for that viewing.
Fishing Rod if you watch the whole video he earns no more money than if you skip the ad
Will Gantt if you say so! Not from what I understand... Thanks for clearing that up!
It's always a good day when there's a new Zoffinger video up
Looked like a lot of fun! Get it figured out Marty, so you can show us how it's done once you get the shop opened!
Good stuff Mr Marty...your pups seem to be lovin the area, and Tarpon fishing off your dock!! Seriously good stuff.
So good to see you again. I've missed your videos/expeditions. Congrats on your new venture. Glad you made the jump. Good luck!
Bet that is awesome being on the boat in the rainstorms... the smell of the air. Peaceful
The comment about the lights on the dock+++++ A minnow trap might help as well. Great job Marty!!!
Such an awesome new dock Marty. What a view!!
Loved the full pancake net throw at the beginning. As always another great video. Now that I know how You Tube pays, I watched the whole video.
I always sharpen my hooks, even if new. And sometimes bend a better angle on them. Thanks Marty. The anticipation is sometimes better than the catch.
I would suggest upgrading the stock hooks on that bait to Trokar or Gamagitzu. That's what I did to land my first one.
Ive learned alot from you and you have great motivation, also if you go out with people that have alot of skill that helps also, your awesome , such a good person and really smart and posotive person
I like the picture in a picture format here. I hope to go to Boca Grande next year and catch those giant tarpon. All the Best!
I just love your editing
loved the sunset footage, very beautiful.

Gotta love the stick shadd. The 182mm works great for everything in the pacific.
Yay! Another video from Marty :D I already know its going to be great
Good effort Marty. Great to see you fishing ! x.

That advice was supposed to be a secret.
Dude you're going to be one step ahead of most people when southern Florida is underwater.
Good to see you back fishing.

Best video you have ever made.
Andrew Spicer ... I'd have to disagree! The best video was when he delivered the kayak to me! Lol ... His videos are fun to watch.
I love your videos man. Keep them coming and I'll keep watching
I've caught exactly one gar but never hooked up with a tarpon. If you're going to chase a unicorn, that looks like a good one!
Cool video! I just got some rock bass fishing inside of a house!
You have come alot closer to a tarpoon than alot of folks Marty!

You got the tarpon fever man.
Great vid.
Great work on the bug picture. A truly awesome creature. And really scary. I bet that took you half a day. Well worth it.
Nice video Marty! I've been getting double headers with tarpon and landing them recently, video's up weekly! Tight lines buddy, live bait FTW...
Great video Marty I love the life lesson.
You will fish it, I've no doubts!
Harder the hunt, the better the prize. You'll get your tarpon, just keep doing what you are doing.
Great video as always Marty! Better luck with the tarpon next time!
I love your videos, your so chill ahahaha keep up the good work and looking forward to more progression with your land :)
LOVE this type of videos

Nice seeying you again.....
Great video Marty! Greetings from Houston!
Marty try using a circle hook with a shad on it .. and use your net lol . Keep up the great videos tight lines
An easy way to increase your chances of landing those tarpon is to use mono instead of braid main line. The stretch of mono really makes a difference with tarpon
Nice pancake of a throw with the bait net Marty!
That looks like a DIY chest mount. Cool video.
For the mosquitoes research Thermacell device. Works in deep Georgia swamp woods hunting . A remarkable product. Use it at home grilling in the evening. I grew up in Fla wished we had it then.
My favorite and go to lures are the Sebile broken backs!
Look forward to your first one!

You need to take your boat down around Egmont. There's still some 200+ pounders out there.
what an awesome fish, must be fun on that light outfit
Your persistence will pay off can't wait to see that day
Love your videos!! Would love to see a review of your new pelican. Looking hard at this yak
That needle fish looked a lot like a gar. If you catch a big one, they're good to eat. They have back straps with no bones, but nothing to filet off of the sides.
Landing nets can be sooooo useful at times ;)
Edit: 16:18 - your front hooks bent. Replace them both before they cost you another good fish, Marty.
Thanks for the vid Marty
For those tarpon try using a little white crappie jig and just bounce it off the bottom, that works great for me.
Get a thermacell, I was in port Charlotte 2 weeks ago and got ate up. Went to rural king got a thermacell and the bugs never touched me after that
Awesome video Marty! I think you might have better luck with sharper, more stout hooks because them tarpon have hard mouths!
Cool video marty. Hope you get to land one for sure
Lol! 9:10. That was close! Awesome stuff
Someone probably already commented but I've always been told to keep the tip of my pole down when bringing in a tarpon. Not sure if it's true, but the charter captains always say to me "keep it down".
Nice Narration... cool and calm.
You have a great spot there!

i caught a 80 to 100 lber off my kayak last week, it was amazing. best fight of my life, took 30 to 40 min to land
Why isn't this a tv series ? Love the blog
