I love Scream 4 and yeah it's not the best in the franchise but I still have a lot of fun with it. I am one who believes Scream 4 was way ahead of its time. Great video Nick!
My love for Scream 4 grows more and more each year. Even though it’s my 2nd least favorite movie in the franchise it’s still to this day but has he most evil killer of them all, Jill Roberts with her motive being way ahead of its time. She’s textbook definition of a psychopath who has no remorse for killing anyone, she never cared for her friends or family since getting them killed meant nothing to her, she manipulated Charlie in doing all of her dirty work so no traces could lead back to her (Jill wanted to be the new Sidney so she killed no one except the people she was framing as the killers, Trevor and Charlie), and she predicted the world we live in today for getting famous for not doing anything extraordinary which is why she’s my Ghostface killer. I give Scream 4 a 4/5
@@TheLostRiverDriveIn No you’re good 😂 I understand your criticisms. I have a lot of nostalgia for this movie because it came out when I was in first grade and I loved it so much. So I’m a little soft on it but I agree with the lens stuff and it’s not as memorable as the other movies. However I will say it is the darkest one out of them all the killers feel a bit more sadistic which disturbed me as a kid.
I think the thing is about Scream 4 isn’t that it’s openly parodying concepts of an original, sequel, or trilogy like 1,2,3 or the requel in 5. But the late 2000’s, primarily in 2009 had a bunch of big name slasher remakes. Halloween 2, F13, ANOES, etc. and instead of being a remake itself, it took the approach as a requel to make fun of the franchises that remade movies that really didn’t need to be remade in the first place. Everything else, understandable.
I love that scream 4 was filmed in Michigan and it has really good moments but i hate how the movie looks I have no idea what they shoot this movie with good video nick keep up the great work
I liked that you said this felt like a requel before requels were a thing. That's how I've always felt about this movie and also led me to be slightly disappointed on first viewing of 5. I saw this opening night in 2011 and loved it. It was a weird time for this to come out as the post-Scream era had come and gone but it wasn't old enough for nostalgia yet. There were maybe 5 people in the theater for Scream 4, which heavily contrasts with the last 2 movies which both felt like events. Still 4 will hold a special place in my heart as I wasn't a fan of the remake era. So I like that this movie gave the finger to it. Also this is Wes' final movie so it has a place in history.
This one def is the lowest of them All It’s a good movie but has a lot of issues I had an alternate version Where it ends at the house…and Jill gets away with it The next one would have picked up with Sidney having amnesia And Jill being targeted and blackmailed by ghostface Then we would have had her friends killed Gale Dewey And in the end Jill face to face with a room full of ghostfaces all taking off masks Dewey Gale Her friends And last but not least Sidney Who faked amnesia and remembered it all I was like 21 at the time and first time writing a movie idea 😂 And I agree with u on all of this bro This is the way I felt
I adore Scream 4. But it has ONE issue. just one major one that always stops me from ranking it higher. Dewey is virtually worthless in it. I love Dewey. And he was always characterized as a bit naïve and not entirely on the ball. But he was always heroic and always had a moment or two where he swooped in and saves the day and figures things out. Scream 3 is basically Dewey solidified imo. But Scream 4 Dewey is just constantly behind the ball to a frustrating degree. I also think it the red herring of Trevor is just annoying and boring. They really needed to do another pass on him because he's just dull. He's not even memorable enough to be hateable. He just sucks and it way too obvious as a red herring. But as a whole I love it's take on the horror tropes of the time. I LOVE Jill as Ghostface - my darkhorse favorite. We all love Kirby. And Ghostface is at his harshest here (until Scream 6). Overall it's a slick script with a great cast with just a few narrative blind spots. My ranking is: Scream Scream 6 Scream 3 Scream 4 Scream 5 Scream 2
"What world are you living in, I don't need friends... I need fans." long live Jill Roberts, the perfect representation of the clout chasing, fame seeking millennial who will do anything for undeserved recognition. Edit: I just find it incredibly genius how the villain of the new millennium wasnt some scary, sadistic man in a ghostface costume, it was just a bratty, spoiled, fame seeking teenage girl, who wanted to leech off her cousins fame for her own benefit. It perfectly captures millennials (and honestly more accurately gen z)s insatiable hunger for attention. I genuinly think critics would've LOVED the motive if this had been released now.
I personally was a fan of this movie. I enjoyed the sound track, I loved how some of kills just felt personal, Kirby was hands down the best, and I feel like it was more gory than the others. However, I think the only gripe I have about the movie is Jill. I just couldn’t take her seriously, she was annoying and her motive just didn’t make sense. 3.5,4 starts out of 5.
Scream 4, despite being my least favorite of the franchise by far, still manages to entertain. Kirby absolutely is the best new character to the series in the last 20 years, can't wait to see her again in 6. Being a huge Dewey fan, I was disappointed because he wasn't given much to do. Overall the killer reveal was lukewarm (Charlie's a TERRIBLE Ghostface), I still really like Jill, considering the negative publicity just twisted her that much, like she really didn't care about ANY of her friends or family. Scream 4 gets 3 and a half stars from me, a decent entry in an overall great franchise.
I haven't seen this one yet but I'm surprised that it was one of the weakest ones in the series being directed by Wes Craven maybe it was the script that was the problem
Guys, I don’t dislike Scream 4. It’s solid! It’s a flawless franchise! It just happens to be my least favorite in the series
This video is awesome
Scream 4 is my favorite in the franchise love it
Scream 4 > Scream 3 ❤

You pretty much hit the nail on the head on why I like Jill so much as a Ghostface killer. Bravo!
always liked scream movies and looking forward to the new one
my ranking would be.

Part 4 was by far the most gory for sure

Great review as always my dude. I have mixed feelings on this one. In 2011 I think a found footage approach would have made more sense than remakes.
I agree!

Summed it up pretty well! Idk, I guess I just hate Jill for being so whiney, but that’s kind of the point. I’m becoming an old man
I like scream 4 quite a bit. I just don’t like the stupid motivation for the killers
