Dave was an exceptionally talented player with a style all his own. It reminds me of how John Hartford played. RIP my friend and know I will find you in heaven.
I never knew about this song until today. This is the 4th person I've heard play it so far and I like the licks that have been played in each one. Such a sweet tune.
Thanks for sharing your gifts of music to the world elder brother Dave. May God continue to bless your works left behind for all you partake of them. Like brethren have said: definitely want to meet you up there in Heaven someday elder brother. Amen!
Great thing you can listen to 10 different versions of this classic and every one is different in playing style. This is one of the best! I doubt even Earl would have played it better!
What a guy! found him today through Mean Mary.. So sad to hear he's recently left this world.. Glad he did what he wanted to do! I bet he had a good voice too?
As I listen to you play! I hear who you have listen to and that’s prevalent that’s several! As I hear Scruggs,Reno,Fairchild,Sonny, it amazes me how you added all of those into one song and me hear them! Great picking!
At 0:33 you can see a chalk cliff in the background. I've puzzled where this was filmed until a friend confirmed it's Lulworth Cove outside 'The Doll's House'. Absolutely stonking rendition - what a great loss - but we're so fortunate to have lots of his music on TH-cam.
Irish dogs, ya got to love em. While traveling thru Ireland I was taken away by their love of dogs. Seemed like every pub in the west had a couple local dogs hanging out inside and water bowls set outside for anyone that passed by. You can tell a lot by how the public treats it's furry citizens. While in a pub in Galway, I was petting a little mixed terrier and asked the folks who it belonged to. No one really knew, but there was a bowl of food and water in the corner for it.
Love listening to you play, you have inspired me to pick the banjo up after a long while and start playing again. think ime gonna need lots of practice though.
