The 20th edition of the Captain Jintu Gogoi, Vir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament concluded with a grand ceremony at Nehru Stadium, Duliajan.
Organized in memory of Captain Jintu Gogoi, a Kargil War hero, the event celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
The closing ceremony highlighted India's diversity through martial and cultural performances. The Indian Army showcased Ghatka, Khukri Dance, Kalaripayattu, and Silambam, alongside vibrant Bihu and Bhangra dances. Military displays, including a Combat Free Fall, helicopter flypast, low-hover jump, and a combat dog show, enthralled the audience.
In the final, Oil India FC defeated Assam Rifles Training Centre Team, winning 75,50,000, while the runners-up received &3,50,000. Individual honors included "Golden Gloves" for Arup Boruah (Oil India FC), "Golden Boot" for Akrang Narzary (Oil India FC), and "Player of the Tournament" for J Nungrud (Assam Rifles).
Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, the Chief Guest, honored Captain Gogoi's parents, praising his legacy and the Army's role in youth empowerment.
He reaffirmed the Army's commitment to fostering peace and development in Upper Assam.
The tournament continues to inspire and unite, embodying Captain Gogoi's heroism and the Indian Army's values.
