I had the privilege of taking a private lesson with Jorjet Alcocer while I was in Houston a few months ago. I had been watching her and Troy dance this style of bachata for a couple of years so I wanted to learn how to do it straight from the pros. She's a wonderful person and of course, super talented! I also was able to meet Troy and their little son, Trysten.
Here's a heads up: Rumor is they'll be coming to the Vancouver International Salsa festival in 2011!
I HIGHLY recommend taking a private lesson or participating in one of their workshops. Very nice people!

Jorget is BADass, her steps are just like the strumming of the guitar. Love watching her dance Bachata. She is definately one of my top dancers to watch. I wish I had a video of Troy and her just freestyling on my channel. It would be #1!

@carlos25099 what I like about this style is that it really allows you to express your musicality. look at how she accents and highlights parts of the song. just awesome. I still like the new kind of sensual bachata but some of it is just totally overdone. this style is alot more usable in social dancing

@Enrique6299 knowing the music really helps, but after awhile you can almost anticipate what's coming. its like a "bachata sixth sense"! i also like the other way of dancing bachata but personally, its something that i don't feel comfortable dancing with strangers. there are only a few people that I like to dance that way with. and they're far and few between! but you're right... its great to have choices!
