"Hello everybody"... I never knew I needed to know this, but it's a very interesting topic. Thanks again for your dedication to research, and quality of production.
Another interesting topic that will take me 12 "watches" or "listens" to get through. I don't comment often, but I do thank you, amd you are one of only about 17 channels I subscribe to.
French Whispers is absolutely one of the Top 5 of asmrtists of all time on TH-cam. The effort and execution here is impeccable. Nothing short of amazing, honestly 💙
just out of curiosity how old you thought pottery was? (I published a paper about the transition from latter pre pottery neolithic to pottery neolithic and I'm interested in what like someone who's not that specialized feels about when humanity started doing so)
@@flowersandwater666 I suppose I hadn’t really thought about it before. My few humanities classes never went further back than Greece, and it’s been a good ten years since high school. I suppose I had been assuming we started developing arts and time-consuming tools once we’d settled. I wasn’t giving our pre-civilization ancestors enough credit, that’s for sure. I think this channel has taught me more history than my entire school career.
@@flowersandwater666 I know you didn’t ask me but I thought the question interesting… Because at first I agreed in a sense with Ace, yeah that is a long time definitely. But I’ve been watching history videos about Japan and I’ve learned a lot about a lot. So it doesn’t really surprise me that it is that old. And on another note, I made a random clay turtle when it rained in the forest. So I’m sure people have been doing that since it’s been raining, if that makes sense.
58:32 They call them anagama in Japan and it's absolutely necessary for the production of traditional Japanese pottery. There was one constructed in SE Michigan by an enthusiast there, but I fear the skills are being lost. Thankfully Japan takes it cultural heritage seriously and spends a lot of money on traditional artisans and the preservation of their craft. The extremely high temperatures allow for incredible effects produced by nature that just can't be replicated otherwise. I'm totally obsessed with them. When you see something that you fall in love with, you know.
Wow! This is such a wonderful video. I love that you included footage from a real workshop. Your educational ASMR is easily the highest quality and most professional out there. And as always the visual ASMR is also perfect; so slow and relaxed. 😊 I'm so interested in the history of ceramics - this will be on repeat for the next few nights. For anyone considering supporting this channel on Patreon, it's well worth it. I've supported a few creators over the years and TFW is consistently the best I've supported.
