The last vlog from Australia! But don't fret, we will be back next year! We really hope you have all enjoyed the series.
I’m a Qantas club member and travelled overseas 5-6 times a year for 17 years.. I think I know every staff member there!! The food quality went up and down over the years, the breakfast used to be the best though!! That’s very cool that you got in it certainly makes the wait more comfortable!
After spending a lot of time in the different airports in the 3 weeks in Aus, this was much needed and appreciated!
Have not really travelled outside of Australia. But I bloody enjoyed watching the eating drinking 🍸 and relaxing before your journey home. To Who ever gifted you both this, Thanks 😊 💕
It was a lovely lady called Keran from Melbourne. Being able to relax before the flight makes the experience so much better

I think my most memorable business class lounge experience was in Istanbul. I had a 12 hour stopover on my way to Azerbaijan. I had planned to leave the airport and go sightseeing for the day, but the weather had other ideas. A massive thunderstorm hit just before we landed. There was already flash flooding outside, and the revised forecast was for heavy rain all day.
I decided I would be better off in the lounge. I plugged in my laptop and spent the day writing a report. That wasn’t fun, but the free food and drink was. There was all sorts of amazing Turkish dishes I’d never tried before, and I had to pace myself and not be too greedy.
I was lucky enough to get upgraded to business class once on Japan Airlines, from Tokyo to London. Wonderful! Really spacious, comfy seats, better food, better service. Only happened the once, but I made the most of it.
I was trying to be extra nice to the flight attendants to get an upgrade...but it didnt work
When I got to go into the same business class lounge when I went to the UK last year (August 2022) then the London lounge on my flights home.
Best moment for me is the first time ever taking off on a jumbo jet, what a thrill.

Mmmmm - the Quantas Lounge … great memories.
With my work travel spent lots of time in the Qantas lounge… the best one is in Singapore, they have great private showers/bathroom.

You wait until the first class lounge! Mixing with sport and other stars. I used to travel sp much for work I earned a Qantas platinum membership for a few years. An example of the first class international lounge- I left a scarf there prior to my New Zealand flight. The staff found it, somehow worked out who I was, found my plane, stopped it taking off, and literally RAN it to me! Wow. Felt a bit embarrassed as it was an old one lol and all the passengers were staring trying go work out who exactly I was! I loved watching you two in there. I must say the food has improved alot. Used to be fairly repetitive and no effort but I guess now the competition for less business is on.
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊 if you ever fly back home Melbourne or Sydney I’ll get you in the first class lounge. It’s really next level.
I can't even imagine what next level is. Never been to any of these lounges.

Best experience at an airport was 2019 heading to South Africa for my birthday. I always sit in the same section of the first class lounge so my favourite staff member was there. She brought me my favourite champagne and I had my brunch then she kept my table for me when I went for my massage. When I got back fresh glass of champagne waiting and a plate of birthday treats with a happy birthday message written in chocolate. Perfect start to what was an incredible holiday.
Rob and Charlie I hope your channels continues to grow to the extent that you can fly premium economy or better yet business on your next trip to Australia. Anyway keep accumulating status credits and one world points so you can at least try for a points upgrade next time.

Yes we have looked into it. Basically we need to fly with the qantas partners right. Ive semi looked into airmiles credit cards but im a bit confused.

You can upgrade to extra leg room for a couple hundred dollars sometimes, worth doing if you like more leg room, Or try premium economy upgrade
Or business class at the gate, good deals usually
I would just grabbed some tea and toast. Having a full gut on a plane could really not end well lol.

That looks so good and that red velvet cake OMG yum.! I would love to be able to fly business or first class on a long flight even though I was upgraded on British Airways flight from Singapore to Sydney back in 1988 we got to sit upstairs on a 747 sadly I don't remember any beautiful MOIST red velvet cake 😁🍰
LOL, Well Rob, you can thank Charlie for 'helping' you NOT eat too much of the Red Velvet cake...or did you get you two mouthfuls back from her? I'm looking forward to watching you next year and the upcoming trip down under in 2023. Hopefully you'll pop into Sydney on your way to elsewhere and we can catch up. And some may best airport experience but I didn't think so! Was on the same plane as Guy Pearce. OMG he stank so much of BO. Best experience was seeing John from Play School!! Rob, you'll have to google that one! And Dr Harry in his heyday (a TV vet). He was in business class and still wouldn't take his hat off!
I used to travel with Ansett airlines but unfortunately they went bankrupt in the late 90s. Their service was outstanding I think it was even better than Qantas which is why I always travelled with them. They often would upgrade you if you were a regular traveller and they would randomly choose people to upgrade when they had space. The thing that I thought that was great about Ansett was it they would randomly choose people to go to the business lounge so they can experience it for themselves. I think that was probably their way of promoting the business lounge. The Ansett business lounge was on par with the Qantas lounge and dare I say ever so slightly better I think anyway.
havnt had a shandy since i was a kid , that was the only way my dad would let us drink beer lol .
I judged him when I seen he was not having the beer as it was meant to be drank.
haha im a cider drinker, and because they didnt have any, or any spirits I wanted, a shandy make a lager or bitter drinkable.

The major trap with the free food and drink at the lounge is that when you fly, you are sitting still for many hours and the airline continue to feed you throughout the flight. It can get a bit uncomfortable!
I made the most of the fully enclosed toilets! :D
business class i think thats what i want of i am traveling on a seventeen hour flight

Story time:
My son was competing in south China for an international comp meaning we had to change flights in Shanghai. Our flight to Shanghai was delayed for over an hour meaning we missed the second flight.
When we got off in Shanghai we were met with uniformed people with our names on papers so we said it was us. They didn’t speak English and we were getting a little worried. They got about 8 of us and they waved to follow. We were rushed through passports and pointed to a bus. We loaded up, still no one spoke English. He drove us around to the ridges hotel and dumped us out front. We went up to the desk and they wanted our flight papers and passport. She called over the manager. After heated discussion in Chinese he said we missed flight we stay here till tomorrow. We were taken up to two rooms. We could have shared but anyway, what the hell. I went into the classiest hotel room I’d ever seen. These rooms were the top class rooms in the hotel. A family of four could have been in the bathroom all at once. Just wow. My son had a similar room.
Being shanghaied in Shanghai isn’t too bad.

Really a Shandy for breakfast, and the alcohol was free, consider yourself judged, Chicken and Champagne should have been the go.
