I'm a Malaysian working in Sgpore for the past 4 years & Ramly burger is the first food that I bought after the border reopening & I almost cried eating it by the roadside.. Nothing beats homeland food 😭

One of the best vlogs. Infact the best featuring MALAYSIAN FOOD. Keep it up! Ex Malaysian from Australia.
Secret tip to find a good Ramly burger joint. There are many vendors selling Ramly burgers and each one will have their own style or custom recipes. A long line is a good indicator but what I do is I let him prepare other people’s burger first and see how he prepares it. You can notice an expert burger chef if you watched a few. Those who slices the patty in the middle and put extra ingredients in the patty gets a yes vote from me. Also don’t be afraid to customize your burger a bit like less chili sauce or mayo etc especially if he can understand you.
Ramly burger joints normally also makes hot dogs as well and they are equally good.

Unfortunately,not many do it nowadays😢 most of the vendor just simply fry the patties, for me that is a Ramly without soul

Fun fact : eventho every single stall u came across used the same patty. But they all taste different because each stalls put different condiments/sauce and cooking style. So what will taste the same will only be the patty and veges.

Fresh and steaming hot putu piring, yummy! 😋 Definitely 1 of my favorite malay traditional kuihs. The secrets for the best experience are: it has to be fresh and still very warm, then it's soft smooth and moist, once too cold the white base, rice flour, would feel very dry and coarse. It also needs to use the malay traditional palm sugars (gula melaka or gula anau) as its filling, then it coats your tongue with a pleasant sweet creamy texture. Some sellers use the regular brown sugar, I won't eat that even for free. The 3rd is to make sure the seller does not use coconut flesh that's too aged, which is very good for getting its milk but feels too dry to be a grated topping. But the 4th secret for me, which lots of people don't know about, is to have a table or a top, where I can safely and securely place the plate/container of putu piring on, and gently press/grind on the grated coconut against the plate until a bit of the milk oozes out, only then I mix it with a scoop of the putu and gobble them, the whole thing feels very creamy, yummm!! 😋

Benjo or Banjo is technically an egg "patty"!! So tips on how to order ramly burges, normally you pick what meat (chicken, egg, maybe fish and etc), then "special" is you wanting the patty to be wrapped around an egg. Then cheese is add on cheese to the burger.
So if you want a beef burger wrapped around the egg + cheese; you'll order "beef special cheese" or in Malay "daging special cheese".

Aahh nice to nice Jln Alor once again. I visited KL 6 months ago and had good memories in that street. Eating and smoking shisha and after that going to the nearby street with all the bars to go for some drinks and going back to smoke another shisha at 2 am in the morning :)

Back in the days Macdonald's use to serve egg burger which is called benjo that's how the words came from right untill now all the burger vendors on the streets in Malaysia using the terms Benjo for their egg burger ,if you are a student or don't have money because it's the end of the month, Egg benjo is very suitable for condition because it cheaper & faster to make

Great segment. You can request Ketchup (Tomato Sauce) instead of standard Chili Sauce. I usually stand there and make sure they done it correctly. Sometimes for them it gets confusing with orders coming in from other customers.
1 orange is not cheap because we import oranges and apples. So if he used 3, plus the cost of 1 empty container, i estimate he earns 3 to 4 ringgit per drink. Fruit juice is usually pricey here.

Ramly Burger is actually the manufacturer of the burger patty, they hv frankurters, meat nuggets etc.. They sell almost everything to the Burger stalls to make the whole package/experience.
If a burger stall uses those wraps, they most probably use Ramly burger patties, there are other brands.. but not as well marketed, or tasting.

I unfortunately can’t help you here, I’ve never gotten food poisoning from any street food so far and I’ve been eating it over a year and a half now (even all through India haha) so I guess I have a strong stomach.
