Scroll through your death cam every single time you die (unless you already have map awareness) to get a sense for where everyone is. Fly toward fights to get clean up kills off spawn, and stay away from other people.
It’s not necessarily the best strategy and it’s also much easier said than done... but it works. FFA just plays different. Map awareness is so important for any game type but I’d argue that it’s especially crucial for that game type.
